And here's the other video I was needing for my Cobalt issue. Thanks again! Will have to do this once I get up the gumption to take all this apart -- your and Levi's demonstration here will make that a snap!
Thanks guys, extremely helpful. I have reset it twice now, however, our little pin thingie is still in the slot so I never replaced it with anything longer and it just happened again. QUESTION: 1) am I able to just pull it out and replace it? Isn't it attached to anything? 2) Will a longer "allen wrench" move around as well, or do I have to somehow fasten it in there? I appreciate your site so much. We like our little Cobalt and son's wants to want to keep it.
I ran mind for a few years like this and didn't have any issues. I wanted to keep my Cobalt but my family talked me into selling it for a 2012 MKZ, now you will see video repairs for it moving forward but yes, the allen wrench just lays there and isn't connected anywhere and works just fine
our problem is intermittent (already had the recall performed) so I'm guessing the pin is still in place. or does putting in a longer rod solve the issue?
I am not a dealer but I would guess if the performed recall didn't correct it, then my hunch is, the larger pin will fix it. This would only be a guess on my part
@@DIYinspiredLewisBrantner I m played with it I still can't get the starter to engage. Codes say manufacturer control and failure to communicate with PCM
Does this still work even if my car hasn’t been driven in a while ? I’m in the process of doing some repairs on the vehicle but I turn my battery on here and there & the key will get stuck.
@@bloodybones63 that worked for me, it's now been about a year since I completed this fix and I have not had an issue and I drive my car nearly every day. I would say, it was successful for me.
The problem is NOT only when it's dead for this vehicle. It hesitates or doesn't come out on me all the time running in and out of somewhere. When it's dead it damn well won't come out. :(

Wonderful! Glad this video was helpful!
I used a ziptie curled up to hold that in place for the longest time until it fell out. I will definitely try this!! Great video!!
Glad we were able to give you another option. I thought about the zip tie but wasn't sure how to make it work properly. Thanks for the comments
Thanks SO very much and your son is just gorgeous :)
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thank you so much it really helped!!!
Thanks you guys, I will be fixing mine tomorrow, awesome video.

thanks for watching and sharing your moments.....
Great info... even better that you are doing the work with your son.
@@u4loota thanks for sharing
Make sure too check your ignition fuse in fuse box before you do all of this
Would that keep it from turning over
@ralphmckinley1206 yes, if you can't get your shifter into neutral or park..... it will not start
@@DIYinspiredLewisBrantner I m played with it I still can't get the starter to engage. Codes say manufacturer control and failure to communicate with PCM
@@ralphmckinley1206 sounds to me it's something else
That part needs to be replaced to be fixed properly. Had same issue.
I totally agree! in my case, I decided to fix mine the way explained in the video but I do agree with you, the proper way is replace that part
Good video
What about an automatic Hyundai i30
I am not familiar with the Hyundai but I would think there would be something there similar

Yes
This is a hardware problem
Let me know how you make out
okay so if i put the same pin back in that spot it will just fall out again orrrr what???
I didn't put mine back in but my guess is, it would fall out again. Great observation!
Not working for me I'm pushing it and it's not budging
Did you remove the center console? After removing, check below the shifter
You have a button under steering wheel that would have took out the key no problem
correct - here is that video

Thanks for your comments and I hope this video was helpful!
There's a whole release button under the steering wheel 🤣 it only happens when it's dead this video is completely pointless.
You are correct, there is a button there but this video isn't showing that.It is sharing the fix. Thanks for watching
@@DIYinspiredLewisBrantner So, you're saying the fix is stick an allen wrench in the hole?

Ignorant comments are what's pointless. He MADE A PRIOR VIDEO about AHOLE.
