The point of Telfar is the opposite of luxury - their slogan is “it’s not for you, it’s for everyone.” As many others have said, the point is accessibility, not luxury.
LOL what kind of take is this? “You’re better off buying a Birkin than a Telfar” …you’re comparing a bag that typically starts at $8-$10k to a bag that ranges from like $200-$400 max 💀🤣😭
there's nothing wrong about it not being "luxury" material - but leather isn't luxury. you can find exceptionally crafted leather bags by italian artisans that are the same price as telfar bags. it just doesn't make sense. that price point for a bag that's literally plastic is insane imo.
The same thought crossed my mind! But if I remember correctly in the Telfar video he recommends it to those who want a bag that celebrities use but is cheaper compared to other luxury brands. As for the Chanel he compares the lamb skin to Caviar leather then leaves it up to the viewer to decide which we prefer.
At the end of the day, TELFAR is not for everyone. You buy Telfar not only for the bag but for the ethos of the brand. If you’re buying Telfar just because you saw a celebrity wear it than you should definitely choose something else.
I’d stay away from any Fendi Mama bag. Both of mine are from the Fendi store in Rome, Italy and the leather strap on both of them has come apart, even though I don’t carry them very often. I also avoid Hermes because I find the brand to be financially exploitive of its own workforce. Learning the salary of a leather artisan who makes iconic ridiculously overpriced bags for Hermes to sell for $20K and up only makes €1,200 per month or about $1400 USD really repulsed me. That’s just disgusting and I will never choose to spend my own hard-earned money with companies who financially abuse or exploit their own employees. Hell to the no!
As a former LV employee DO NOT buy the Neverfull or Speedy bags! They are not worth the money, lose their shape and the design is very poor for the intended use. I’d you do purchase LV I’d recommend the On the Go in place of the Neverfull and the Alma in place of the Speedy. xx
Im curious as to why the lady dior depreciates so fast so quickly. It's lovely material, very hard to fake exactly, structured, nicely put together... it should not lose value so much
Vintage Chanel classic flap in lambskin is amazingly durable. Today's lambskin is delicate, so go with the vintage instead, the resale value is also amazing.
I have the classic double flap and the lamb skin‘s magic. Just rub the area with your hand a few times and ‘ta da’ 🙌🏻 the unfortunate mark fades or disappears completely 😅
Admitting that Telfar bags aren’t high quality material doesn’t take away from the brand. At this point, Chanel isn’t even that great in regards to quality material lol.
I don’t agree with the Lady Dior ( as long as you aren’t buying to resell), neither do I agree with the lambskin classic flap. Mine is perfect and isn’t scratched at all.
Totally. I agree about both those bags too. I have both as well and they’re in perfect condition. The big problem is these days people are only buying them to resell. It’s sad really
@@luxecollectiveI think it’s all subjective. I personally think anything Louis Vuitton with untreated leather is hard to resell as it patinas quickly and looks old. Anything too trendy such as your suggestions of the Jacquemus minis or Shearling material. My main no no is if the bags don’t fit essential items like my phone.
I'm not mad at this list. he's very accurate and I believe his statement. I know bc I own these bags myself except for the telfar bag. 😭 and I'm glad I didn't get the Telfair bag. they don't look high quality.
Telfar bags don’t look cheap, you just know how much it costs and assume it’s cheap. Other brands make bags with cheaper material and inconvenient designs and people are still obsessing over them because they think $$$$$ means quality.
In general I try to remember that people have very diverse tastes. Sometimes they see something and they just want it. I would try not to discourage anyone from buying something that they really want unless there's a serious issue.
Thanks for all of your suggestions Janae! I love the Goyard pieces though would agree the thin straps can be a problem... I just don't put heavy things in 😁
@@bebop2523 It doesn't matter to me about the cost- poor quality is poor quality. I have Coach and Polene bags around the cost of a Telfar and they are made exceptionally well.
You are almost always on point, but I totally disagree with your first two choices. 1) Lady Dior: if you care about the resale of a bag, then you shouldn’t be buying luxury bags period. They’re not investments-with money if you can’t afford to lose it, then you can’t afford to spend it. Beyond that, the Lady Dior is iconic and it is a stunning piece with magnificent craftsmanship. If you enjoy exceptional pieces, the Lady Dior is wonderful for this. They do Pearl bags way better than Chanel for example. 2) lamb skin is not as delicate as you make it seem. Does it get scratched immediately? Yes, but it looks way better than caviar as it ages in my opinion. Caviar was my go to in my teens/early twenties as I was afraid of damaging the lambskin, but now I only buy caviar in white. I much prefer the luxurious look of the matte lamb to the shiny caviar, especially in a classic flap. Better yet, Lesage tweed. It is finished by hand, never repeated and very limited production. However, I used a lambskin maxi as my diaper bag and it still looks fabulous a decade later, so if you love the lambskin, get the bag, you won’t regret it.
My bag expenses do not exceed over $2,300 . This is the most I’ll spend of any bag . I’m in Japan loving the pre-loved market. I disagree with Telfar. I would not compare to the other handbags as a big Luxury brand, and it’s reasonable for those , who cannot afford those handbags, or who can and wants to support the Brand. I have two, one just arrived yesterday from the Rainbow release. A large Bronze I plan to use for traveling, beach bag, picnic etc. You can’t use the following listed multiple ways, due to there sz, so Telfar is an excellent choice.
