It's ok to pay for creativity and craftmanship. I don't mind paying 600 bucks for a bag or 300 for wool pants made in Italy (by italians, not cheap imported chinese labourers), but what LV, Gucci etc. are doing is just ridiculous.

I had a client (I used to be a hairstylist) who was the manager at Saks Off Fifth, and she told me this exact same thing, and the funniest part of it that many "old money" people (which include names we have def. heard of) would shop there instead of the regular store.
Saks Off Fifth, Off was in the wrong place in case someone goes to search the company. And I’m not surprised by your comment. Truly wealthy people aren’t going to throw their money away. They are smart shoppers.

It's fairly easy to discern which items are "made for outlet." If there are lots of them on display, chances are good that's what you're seeing. If there are one or two, or the SA has to go into a drawer or in the back, ask if it's a boutique item. It also "pays" to be familiar with boutique stock and seasonal items, those can be a good buy at an outlet.
The problem is that clients will assume this is the regular quality of the brand, and the name of the brand is hurt. On the other hand, most customers that shop at outlets will never shop at a regular boutique, where prices are truly insane and ridiculous.
It's much better and more ethical to buy outlet than a superfake, though. If the lower price is all your budget allows. So I'm Team Outlet as a concept.

As an LV CA, I can say most of the bags we sell are crap. We shove them into the drawers under the counter, and the bags get squished, warped, and are barely sellable. Clasps come from the workshops crooked and the stitching is subpar.
This is only somewhat true, based on what I know and was told directly by SAs. Of the high end designer brands, only Prada Outlets produces pieces specifically for the outlet which is why this video focuses on Prada entirely. YSL, Gucci, and other outlets like Chloe, Loewe, Bottega and Givenchy only sell past season products/overstock; they do not sell made for outlet. Contemporary brands like MK, Coach, Tory Burch, and Kate Spade this is absolutely true where their items are all made for outlet. Follow his tips on asking the SAs about the products and do some research on what you're buying but this video borderline fear mongering. I shop at outlets a lot and found some amazing deals!
I was interested in a Gucci bag and asked if it was made for outlets and the SA said no. However, she pointed towards an area and said "there are the items made specifically for outlets". It looks like those have a G in a circle on the inside tag.

gucci does have products specifically made for the outlets, they even have a C close to the gucci inner stamping and different shape of clasps. pay attention to the colors, usually neturals don't hit the outlets.
Man, you said what have said before to some of my friends: nowadays people buy brands names instead of quality, they prefer to brag about how much money they waste thinking that buying a very expensive thing is a smart move, there are so many replicas that are way better and less pricey than originals. People are psychologicly being manipulated to believe that a logo or big brand name on a item equals being rich. Sad though

This video is rather misleading as it implies that the boutique item quality is good, while we’re inundated with shocking stories about shoddy manufacturing, tarnishing hardware, and endless other problems, while prices keep being inflated in a drive for “exclusivity” and increased profits. Whoever buys designer items should be aware they’re buying into a “club”, not necessarily a quality product, and most certainly not luxury. Luxury is rarefied and exclusive, yet I see more (genuine) LV bags out there than I’ve dad hot suppers.
The point of video is not to help us understand “luxury”. It’s to understand the practices of billion dollar fashion houses. If u want u can remove the label luxury
Ask yr local shoe/handbag repair store about the quality of LV & other luxury brands. Our local people thought that many of the more recent luxury bags - that were brought in to fix - were fake! U will be told how the quality is no where near what it was yrs ago. And, how can it be, if luxury stores need to crank out many many more items that were sold in the past. As this guy said, if u like something in an outlet store, sure, buy it & also spend in the luxury store, but understand that both items may not last as long as u might think. Luxury fast fashion!
yeah, i agree that the boutique item is likely better than the outlet item, but it's not in the magnitude of order better than what the boutique price reflects.
@@jicalzad more expensive is pretty much never 1 to 1 reflected in better quality. In tech it's pretty widely known that when you go above average good quality you will pretty much have to double the price to get 10% better quality. And in fashion you're also paying for the runway shows, stores in the most prime locations of major cities, way more employees than regular stores. Ad campaigns celebrity designers and whatnot. If people don't care to pay for all this, I understand. But let's not pretend they just pocket all of that high price. But on the other hand this also means that you can get high items way cheaper if you just buy from smaller brands who don't spend 80% of their budget on other stuff than the actual clothes / accessories.
I was once told by a Coach SA that you could tell an Outlet item by the code on the inside, it started with a different letter to differentiate it from Boutique items.
A few other ways you can tell with Coach: boutique pieces are more likely to have detachable straps and feet, the signature print on outlet pieces has dark c’s with lighter backgrounds while the boutique pieces have lights c’s with darker backgrounds, the outlet logo on bags is typically the whole word written out whereas the boutique often uses just a C
@@roxypaquette9501 i do enjoy buying some outlet products, knowing perfectly well they are outlet products. There is no hide ,i actually i think the brands are not trying to full anyone. The logo for the outlet products its totally different. Sure the quality of the outlet is lower than the retail brand but still pretty good. I bought a pair of nice flat sandals at the tory burch outlet for my trip to paris and Israel they were really comfortable and still in pretty good shape. I loved those sandals for $200. I tried so many others in a regular mall and found norhing. Those sandals were the ones for me. I knew perfectly well they were made for outlet but still loved them. Not everything made for outlet is that awful.
LOL I have so much Coach outlet and people think I spent a fortune. It's durable though! One of my bags got runover by a truck at work and was still usable!
There are a few brands that don’t make for outlet (called MFO) in the industry. Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta outlets only sell past season or overstock. Prada makes for outlet most of the stuff but you can find a few things there that come from the boutique. It’s usually pretty obvious when you see them side by side.
Interesting video. When I was first reintroduced into luxury bags as and adult, I went to a Prada outlet and purchased a classic saffiano leather tote piece. I didn’t realize at the time it was made for the outlet, until I started trying to find this model online. That being said I still love the bag, and aside from wear on the straps it’s held up very well. I was told if I ever had an issue my file is listed at ANY Prada store in the US. I went to a Prada boutique the same year to purchase something, and sure enough my file from the outlet was listed. I agree that it’s a great way to start your journey into luxury goods, BUT do your research. I wish I had this video to reference before I went to the outlets. Great video.
This is why, despite working in an Outlet, I refuse to spend too much on stuff from the Outlet. Unless something is 70% off and the other assistants can attest to their quality. At the last sales I got a really nice Calvin Klein leather pouch for less than 20€. Went back after, looking for a belt, and it costed way too much for something that very clearly wasn't leather.
@guntarmorse I mainly buy preloved for the reason of the decline in quality which is serious. I just cannot justify buying the latest fads when the quality of boutique stores is so rubbish. So I have lesser known brands like Morabito Paris, Etro Italy, but the quality is out of this world and I buy them for a song. I paid a bit more for a Tom Ford era Jackie hobo bag, a Bally lizard skin large bag and getting this high quality and enjoying the item for the work skills in it, that's what makes me happy. I don't like propping up conglomerates. Outlets invariably are a waste of money I can't stand them. Sometimes you find a good one but now they have such tight control over inventory the days of serious bargains are over. JIMO.

The TJ Maxx in my area sells Gucci, Louis, Versace, Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel, and many other designer brands. Most are the same quality as the boutiques. Some aren’t. Just a few seasons older.

Thank you for this video. I have bags from Coach, some bought at the boutiques and some from the Outlet. I must say I am pretty happy with all of them, except one from the Outlet that had very visible imperfections and I had to return. As for the packaging, the ones from the boutique came in a beautiful box with a bowl, a high quality dust bag and a card.
Another knack is to buy smaller brands that can’t afford to produce twice nor have the markups to stratify price tiers for various quality grades. If they satisfy you in place of the loudest ones. Like Mario Valentino (as opposed to Valentino Garavani) mostly appearing but in outlet stores in the first place, or John Richmond produced since 2017 by Arav Srl in six different countries only two of which are first-world albeit with prices already detached from reality and meant to be struck, however affording fits and designs arguably superior to grippier brands. Then you have a consistent feeling by which proportion you get ripped off-and in this respect, too, a rationally more defensible price/quality ratio. The brand itself is somewhat cooler for the flex if it does not stoop to intentionally procuring disparate qualities.
Mario Valentino does exist, is not fake, that brand was quite popular in Italy back in 1980 1990 with plenty ads on Italian Vogue he did mainly leather.
One celebrity stylist admitted that many celebrities wear *amzclothes* . This is nothing new or strange. And many times we see celebrities posing in magazines, and the photos for promotions and advertisements are given by brands or borrowed by themselves.

I don't think I'll buy any higher end handbags even from the outlet for now as I don't have any special occasion to carry them to, and don't want to leave friends and coworkers wondering "where she got that money from". I have two pre-loved *gtdupe* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.
This is true! I worked for an iconic shoe brand, which now does have an outlet. Mind you, the shoes made for the outlet ARE a lot lower quality and we can tell. eg. no cushion, the inside is unlined, the leathers are in pieces, instead of being cut from a single piece of leather. The ones who are much more obviously outlet-made are the bags! They looked like bags you could get from Tory Burch or Kate Spade with that brands name slapped on top of it. We who worked there know exactly which stuff came from the boutique and we usually bought those up for ourselves. However, the packaging for this brand are exactly the same for boutique and outlet. Though I know some brands like Coach and Kate Spade use very different packaging.
This video makes me wonder what's the difference between made for outlet version VS a deep fake version....the deep fake version may be made with even better quality raw material than these outlet version... For a lower price too I think
I still love my LV reverse monogram HIDUPZ clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
I bought a Prada 'outlet' bag from Bicester a few months ago - there were a few 'genuine' boutique bags in there but they looked a little knocked up (ex-display I presume) and were more expensive. The one I took suited my needs to a T, is soft leather and was affordable. Not sure I'd shop there again though.
Its not "wrong," but what they should do is have the item clearly marked as "retail" or "outlet." But now many people know this. If they dont, most are buying it anyway!! So at the end of the they will still get our money. Why is transparancy such taboo?!?!

The truth is the quality of items that go to luxury boutiques are nottttt good either so.. go for the outlet items. In recent years especially, quality issues abound with luxury brands.
I have never seen half price designer items here in the U.K.especially Bicester Village. It’s always 20 or 30 % and I have not seen low quality but if you want to know they tell you anyway
Only been to La Rozas outside Madrid, they had tons of sale stuff. But their prices aren't that great anyway.. Mostly just 20-30% off.. You can find way better deals in regular end of season sales.

The consumer savvy program Marketplace in Canada discovered that a lot of products at outlet malls are actually lower quality. They bought items and displayed the differences and how those products are tagged.
This is only true for certain shops but many shops in outlet stores especially Kurt Geiger sell the exact same stock as the stuff on their website at outlet stores.
The resale value goes down on the boutique shop items too because people don't always understand that what they've seen for a cheap price is actually a mfr. outlet knock off. Coach, Michael Kors and Kate Spade do the same thing, but at a lower price point. Brahmin and Dooney sell the same bags in the outlet that was in their boutique, but its older styles. Coach has a section at the outlet that are retail bags. Coach online has a "Coach Reserve" section for those items. I've never been into Prada or Gucci.

The models in the outlet are different models than the ones in the main street stores. The same stuff you find on the websites. That being said the quality is still better than from lower brands, also you can find products from the main street stores. Most of the time you can tell the difference and when it comes to jeans and t-shirts it really doesn't matter that much.
I disagree. I've got some Calvin Klein jeans and they're incredibly thick and well made. But they're vintage and I got them for a song. But the outlet jeans...thin and rubbish quality, the weave isn't tight enough it just won't hold its shape, goes all saggy and wears out rapidly. I'd rather get the original even if they cost more. But I have enough stuff and only buy occasionally if my items are wearing out. I'm not much of a consumer really...even though I enjoy good design, it's not enough of an attraction to accept becoming poor to try and impress someone.

I know what you're saying, I too have a pair bought from an website and they are original, but they are not the best quality, I have a problem with holding shape, but the color is great. Only good brand jeans have nice blues. The best jeans price wise, to me, are Jack&Jones, but I think they only do guy jeans.

This totally makes sense for past few years I have been purchasing Stuff fro m Outlets and even online at cheap prices but the Quality of the products like bag and Shoes tarnish and wearoff , I always thought why they make cheap quality stuff at such reputed Brands but now it makes Total sense. Years ago, I wanna say 2008, coach used to sell their boutique stuff in their outlet shop here. Luckily then, I was really into that brand and noticed it right away. I feel like it’s become more of an outlet brand in recent years, unfortunately because we have many tourists that frequent the shop. I stopped going to outlet shops when I noticed the quality was drastically different. I went to the Tory Burch shop thinking I was getting the York tote but the strap broke in less than 2 months. I stay away from brands with that have the outlet shops now and invest in quality. There are some good brands at Saks off fifth that have sales here and there, too
When the Outlet Game started I bought myself some bags which looked so amazing. Nowadays the bags in the outlets have so low quality. It isn’t worth to spend anything on them.
In the past my wife worked for a couple of years for the textile industry. Luxury clothes often are a total rip off. The very same pieces coming from the very same factories, see their selling prices multiplied according to the name on the label added afterwards. The price of snobbery. When buying clothes we do pay attention to the quality of the making, but we never pay extra money for the brand.
I thought this is common knowledge? Regular or outlet stores - it's no longer about the quality. Outlet items are on par with fast fashion, but once in a while you can find "decent" quality for the price. But I would never buy outlet items full price - but usually 50-70% is worth it depending on the item. At the end of the day, if one care about quality then they should ditch luxury "brands" altogether and look for material compositions, its sources, stitching and how well construct the item is. "Brand" used to mean something, but not anymore.
The Coach, MK, Tory Burch are obvious. But what about the other brands? I saw a Prada backpack like the one you showed on the left (retail with saffiano leather and a pouch) at the outlet, so was that made for outlet too? I do know the Gucci Guccissima print is made for outlet but when I went to Fendi, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, they literally have the same bags as the ones in the boutique so which ones are made for outlet? They have the Peekaboo, the LouLou, College, and the City Moto bags there. I see the intention of the video but there's not enough info on how consumers can see on their own. Are there marks on the label that say it's for outlet. Is there a cheat sheet or something?
Sadly there isnt a 'cheat sheet' but if you go into the boutique and compare with the outlet version, along with asking the store assistants, you should start to get a better idea!

I find it unethical to sell low-quality pieces at outlets, especially for the average consumer who thought they just got a bargain. or item that was discounted prices from the boutique. although it is true for some items, not everything. wherein it's actually a completely different item made for outlets. for luxury savvy like us, we would avoid it. however, it is way better than buying replicas, knock off, or fakes. at least you get the real deal than a replica. if you're a person who really likes an item just for the brand name, I would say go for the outlets. for quality purposes, take an example the prada backpack, the quality is really big bro. even the design is a bit distorted. hence go for the boutique

I got loads of Ralph Laurent polos from an outlet. Yes, they were not perfect but it was 1/3 the price. Whenever you buy something, check the quality, not the brand. While those Ralph Laurent polo didn’t last forever, I still have all of my outlet polos from Brooks Brothers and my Coach bag.
In Germany we would „if you buy cheap - you buy twice“ I think this kinda applies here too - if you find a similar Prada bag for 1000€ and the „reel one“ would be 1800€ - you would have waisted 1000€ for the reel deal
Thank you for talking about the return policy. I recently bought a felicie on the website and when it showed up at my door it was BEAT TO H*LL. Someone clearly used and abused it before returning. It had a huge crease down the side, the corners were bulging from being over stuffed, and the glazing was chipping *esluxy*
Having said about “Outlet” stock (which I have experienced, but was aware was specifically made for discounted sale), I have looked at Prada leather bags in Selfridges Oxford Street store and the quality was awful! Very poor stitching and finishing and what looked like PU lining for £2K. The fact that the bag was tethered to a security cable was hysterical, as I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to steal something that looked like it came from a backstreet market stall! Never been near Prada again.
I knew that 15 years ago when I used to work at the outlets, I never shop outlets . They also make a separate collection for wholesalers like Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and Saks …

My brother and sister in law told me that in new york macys the first two floors are all high end. In miami not especally Aventura. In aventura mall for high end you have nordstrom and Bloomingdales and all their boutiques. Aventura mall has become the new ball harbour.

This is true. I bought some things at polo. And the quality of some of the sweaters I bought. They were still $200 each but after wearing once or twice they had these lint balls. No where near as durable. I now just pay the regular price and go on
I already knew about this but I watched anyway just in case there was anything I wasn’t aware. I thought most people knew about outlet vs retail since the price and quality reflects it. Luxury items are nice but once the initial joy of the purchase wears off it’s just like anything else you buy.
I am very happy with *rrcopys* 's bag, arrived on time and exceeded my expectations! Need a stylish little backpack to go to theme parks with my kids. I'm not a backpack person and usually carry a purse with me, but I wanted something that was easier to carry and less carried over the shoulder. I bought the smaller size, but it holds 2 water bottles, snacks, a couple of light sweaters, and a bunch of other small things. I like that the opening is in the back, great for travel.

They are all top notch quality 1:1, materials are imported from the same as the original leather. She tries to keep it a minimal business in CA.
Hi ! Was there a time when LV Mono Vernis Perle Read PM Monogram.does not have a date code? My aunt and I were trying to authenticate an old Vernis white bag. The bag size, the monogram design is on point. even the stitches ,the color of the thread, the color of the inner lining. the lock,the hardware,the stamp,the zipper even the LV near the handle does not overlap.The only thing we noticed is that there was no date code. Accdg to my aunt that bag was given t her by her aunt in 2009 .But that *niceshopx* was gifted to her aunt in 1998. There is only a slight discoloration but it looks fantastic.
Of course this happens with detergent, perfumes, bags they tend to cost so much but so much less than what they sell it for really they are masters of marketing
There was a documentary recently where they interviewed very wealthy women. These women are talking about how they no longer buy authentic wallets, but instead choose to buy really good wallets *gtdupe* designer bags they love. They then invest the money they save in other things such as real estate, stocks, etc.
I stay away from the Outlet stores because of that reason... Outlet store " quality " not High end quality.. We recently took a trip to Paris and my friend had plan to go to the Chanel Flagship store to buy a purse. The treatment there was amazing, private area to view her purse, food & drink were offered to us, a tour of the Chanel staircase.. something you don't get at an outlet store.. But of course she spent 10k on that purse.
I've known about this for over 20 years. Not news to me. I go for mid-range items without a conspicuous logo. They are standing the test of time easily. I don't care much for fast fashion or spending crazy amounts of money. About twenty years ago, I was in a luxury department store and the $1,700 Prada pants split as I put them on. Why? Because low quality thread was used in construction. I sew most of my own clothes. Compared to fast fashion prices, I don't save money. Compared to the higher end mid range, I save quite a bit. Compared to luxury ready to wear, I save even more! My clothes are sewn with mostly haute sewing techniques. A button up shirt made by me will last at least ten years of regular wear and laundering. Absolutely true. But would you believe that Prada store at Bellagio in Las Vegas, US, was selling their subpar merch as the real deal, at designer, non-sale prices. That was over a decade ago while I went there for a marketing conference, and I swear, I could not believe the shoddy quality Prada was selling. It turned me off to the brand for life. I think they thought that Las Vegas drunken crowd wouldn’t know differently and why not push outlet product at high end price. Disgusting.
Okay yeah that’s 100% shady and terrible ethics towards costumers. there is nothing wrong on buying outlet products knowing what you are getting.I’ve bought Tory Burch outlet sandals knowing they were an outlet product and still felt great the same with a few outlet handbags from Kate Spade but bought them at an outlet store in an outlet mall. So I totally knew what I was getting into. Not surprises not scam. Actually my sandals survived perfectly well my trip to Paris and felt very good in them So good job there for an outlet product. years ago, i bought a Prada bag at Neimans Last Call. A nylon with leather trim. Carried it carefully about 6 or 7 times. Stored it in its sleeper bag. The 8th time I went to carry it, the leather bottom was split across its bottom. Will never buy even a Prada dupe. Not EVER. Whatever I bought, Prada is GARBAGE to me now.
Somewhere is real, somewhere is a replica, you honestly can't tell the difference. This is a woman who has enough money to buy anything she wants. I did see her buy a Mercedes and a Jaguar with cash because she didn't like the interest. She taught me how to mix and match, especially trendy bags and clothes, without spending $2,000 on something that will be out of style next year *amzclothes*

Look, honestly - we're getting scammed to an even greater degree when we buy luxury goods in the regular store. (Speaking as someone who owns luxury goods.) There's no way any nylon, canvas or leather is worth what they're charging us. We're paying for the name, for the cachet and, to a lesser degree, for the marketing.

It's ok to pay for creativity and craftmanship. I don't mind paying 600 bucks for a bag or 300 for wool pants made in Italy (by italians, not cheap imported chinese labourers), but what LV, Gucci etc. are doing is just ridiculous.

I had a client (I used to be a hairstylist) who was the manager at Saks Off Fifth, and she told me this exact same thing, and the funniest part of it that many "old money" people (which include names we have def. heard of) would shop there instead of the regular store.

Simple: Just ask! By law, they have to tell you if an item is made for outlets or from the boutiques!
Call it a huge discount and write down the price of the actual product and claim to reducing it,EX the price of £4300 to £2100 ,is already misleading ppl

It's fairly easy to discern which items are "made for outlet." If there are lots of them on display, chances are good that's what you're seeing. If there are one or two, or the SA has to go into a drawer or in the back, ask if it's a boutique item. It also "pays" to be familiar with boutique stock and seasonal items, those can be a good buy at an outlet.
The problem is that clients will assume this is the regular quality of the brand, and the name of the brand is hurt. On the other hand, most customers that shop at outlets will never shop at a regular boutique, where prices are truly insane and ridiculous.
It's much better and more ethical to buy outlet than a superfake, though. If the lower price is all your budget allows. So I'm Team Outlet as a concept.

As an LV CA, I can say most of the bags we sell are crap. We shove them into the drawers under the counter, and the bags get squished, warped, and are barely sellable. Clasps come from the workshops crooked and the stitching is subpar.

This is only somewhat true, based on what I know and was told directly by SAs. Of the high end designer brands, only Prada Outlets produces pieces specifically for the outlet which is why this video focuses on Prada entirely. YSL, Gucci, and other outlets like Chloe, Loewe, Bottega and Givenchy only sell past season products/overstock; they do not sell made for outlet. Contemporary brands like MK, Coach, Tory Burch, and Kate Spade this is absolutely true where their items are all made for outlet. Follow his tips on asking the SAs about the products and do some research on what you're buying but this video borderline fear mongering. I shop at outlets a lot and found some amazing deals!
I was interested in a Gucci bag and asked if it was made for outlets and the SA said no. However, she pointed towards an area and said "there are the items made specifically for outlets". It looks like those have a G in a circle on the inside tag.

gucci does have products specifically made for the outlets, they even have a C close to the gucci inner stamping and different shape of clasps.

Man, you said what have said before to some of my friends: nowadays people buy brands names instead of quality, they prefer to brag about how much money they waste thinking that buying a very expensive thing is a smart move, there are so many replicas that are way better and less pricey than originals. People are psychologicly being manipulated to believe that a logo or big brand name on a item equals being rich. Sad though

This video is rather misleading as it implies that the boutique item quality is good, while we’re inundated with shocking stories about shoddy manufacturing, tarnishing hardware, and endless other problems, while prices keep being inflated in a drive for “exclusivity” and increased profits. Whoever buys designer items should be aware they’re buying into a “club”, not necessarily a quality product, and most certainly not luxury. Luxury is rarefied and exclusive, yet I see more (genuine) LV bags out there than I’ve dad hot suppers.
Luxury is something that goes beyond what is actually needed.
So in a sense, any bag above some $1 cotton tote is luxury.
The point of video is not to help us understand “luxury”. It’s to understand the practices of billion dollar fashion houses.

Ask yr local shoe/handbag repair store about the quality of LV & other luxury brands. Our local people thought that many of the more recent luxury bags - that were brought in to fix - were fake! U will be told how the quality is no where near what it was yrs ago. And, how can it be, if luxury stores need to crank out many many more items that were sold in the past. As this guy said, if u like something in an outlet store, sure, buy it & also spend in the luxury store, but understand that both items may not last as long as u might think. Luxury fast fashion!
yeah, i agree that the boutique item is likely better than the outlet item, but it's not in the magnitude of order better than what the boutique price reflects.

In tech it's pretty widely known that when you go above average good quality you will pretty much have to double the price to get 10% better quality.
And in fashion you're also paying for the runway shows, stores in the most prime locations of major cities, way more employees than regular stores. Ad campaigns celebrity designers and whatnot.
If people don't care to pay for all this, I understand. But let's not pretend they just pocket all of that high price.
But on the other hand this also means that you can get high items way cheaper if you just buy from smaller brands who don't spend 80% of their budget on other stuff than the actual clothes / accessories.
I was once told by a Coach SA that you could tell an Outlet item by the code on the inside, it started with a different letter to differentiate it from Boutique items.
A few other ways you can tell with Coach: boutique pieces are more likely to have detachable straps and feet, the signature print on outlet pieces has dark c’s with lighter backgrounds while the boutique pieces have lights c’s with darker backgrounds, the outlet logo on bags is typically the whole word written out whereas the boutique often uses just a C
But it doesn’t mean it was intentionally made for outlets.

I bought a pair of nice flat sandals at the tory burch outlet for my trip to paris and Israel they were really comfortable and still in pretty good shape.
I loved those sandals for $200. I tried so many others in a regular mall and found norhing. Those sandals were the ones for me.

There are a few brands that don’t make for outlet (called MFO) in the industry. Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta outlets only sell past season or overstock. Prada makes for outlet most of the stuff but you can find a few things there that come from the boutique. It’s usually pretty obvious when you see them side by side.
Ferragamo boutique quality isn't that great. I got a bag from Saks 6 months ago and it's already peeling after a few uses. Bottega is superb!

Interesting video. When I was first reintroduced into luxury bags as and adult, I went to a Prada outlet and purchased a classic saffiano leather tote piece. I didn’t realize at the time it was made for the outlet, until I started trying to find this model online. That being said I still love the bag, and aside from wear on the straps it’s held up very well. I was told if I ever had an issue my file is listed at ANY Prada store in the US. I went to a Prada boutique the same year to purchase something, and sure enough my file from the outlet was listed. I agree that it’s a great way to start your journey into luxury goods, BUT do your research. I wish I had this video to reference before I went to the outlets. Great video.

At the last sales I got a really nice Calvin Klein leather pouch for less than 20€. Went back after, looking for a belt, and it costed way too much for something that very clearly wasn't leather.

So I have lesser known brands like Morabito Paris, Etro Italy, but the quality is out of this world and I buy them for a song. I paid a bit more for a Tom Ford era Jackie hobo bag, a Bally lizard skin large bag and getting this high quality and enjoying the item for the work skills in it, that's what makes me happy. I don't like propping up conglomerates. Outlets invariably are a waste of money I can't stand them. Sometimes you find a good one but now they have such tight control over inventory the days of serious bargains are over. JIMO.

The TJ Maxx in my area sells Gucci, Louis, Versace, Dior, Balenciaga, Chanel, and many other designer brands. Most are the same quality as the boutiques. Some aren’t. Just a few seasons older.

Thank you for this video. I have bags from Coach, some bought at the boutiques and some from the Outlet. I must say I am pretty happy with all of them, except one from the Outlet that had very visible imperfections and I had to return. As for the packaging, the ones from the boutique came in a beautiful box with a bowl, a high quality dust bag and a card.
Another knack is to buy smaller brands that can’t afford to produce twice nor have the markups to stratify price tiers for various quality grades. If they satisfy you in place of the loudest ones. Like Mario Valentino (as opposed to Valentino Garavani) mostly appearing but in outlet stores in the first place, or John Richmond produced since 2017 by Arav Srl in six different countries only two of which are first-world albeit with prices already detached from reality and meant to be struck, however affording fits and designs arguably superior to grippier brands. Then you have a consistent feeling by which proportion you get ripped off-and in this respect, too, a rationally more defensible price/quality ratio. The brand itself is somewhat cooler for the flex if it does not stoop to intentionally procuring disparate qualities.
THIS is a top tip, I totally agree. but you need confidence in your own style and need to not care about fitting in with others mainstream choices.
Mario Valentino does exist, is not fake, that brand was quite popular in Italy back in 1980 1990 with plenty ads on Italian Vogue he did mainly leather.
One celebrity stylist admitted that many celebrities wear *amzclothes* . This is nothing new or strange. And many times we see celebrities posing in magazines, and the photos for promotions and advertisements are given by brands or borrowed by themselves.

Being in a fresh graduate who literally don't have much to spend, I currently stick to coach both retail and outlet. I don't think I'll buy any higher end handbags even from the outlet for now as I don't have any special occasion to carry them to, and don't want to leave friends and coworkers wondering "where she got that money from". I'll get them one day when I'm a fancy woman.
Perhaps true for some brands, but at the Burberry outlet store in La Vallée Village in Paris they sold former collections from the stores.

Prada has nylon backpacks at the outlet with the same hardware, saffiano leather, and same nylon as the main boutique.
I have two pre-loved *gtdupe* that people left the stickers on, and when you remove them, the hardware looks different than the hardware right next to it that the sticker didn’t touch. It’s not because the other has scratches, the sticky stuff affected the finish.

This is true! I worked for an iconic shoe brand, which now does have an outlet. Mind you, the shoes made for the outlet ARE a lot lower quality and we can tell. eg. no cushion, the inside is unlined, the leathers are in pieces, instead of being cut from a single piece of leather. The ones who are much more obviously outlet-made are the bags! They looked like bags you could get from Tory Burch or Kate Spade with that brands name slapped on top of it.
We who worked there know exactly which stuff came from the boutique and we usually bought those up for ourselves. However, the packaging for this brand are exactly the same for boutique and outlet. Though I know some brands like Coach and Kate Spade use very different packaging.
dior, bottega, isabel marant, gucci have past season items. gucci certainly has made for outlet items tho that you have to be careful about.

I still love my LV reverse monogram HIDUPZ clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

I bought a Prada 'outlet' bag from Bicester a few months ago - there were a few 'genuine' boutique bags in there but they looked a little knocked up (ex-display I presume) and were more expensive. The one I took suited my needs to a T, is soft leather and was affordable. Not sure I'd shop there again though.

The truth is the quality of items that go to luxury boutiques are nottttt good either so.. go for the outlet items. In recent years especially, quality issues abound with luxury brands.
I have never seen half price designer items here in the U.K.especially Bicester Village. It’s always 20 or 30 % and I have not seen low quality but if you want to know they tell you anyway
Only been to La Rozas outside Madrid, they had tons of sale stuff. But their prices aren't that great anyway.. Mostly just 20-30% off..

The consumer savvy program Marketplace in Canada discovered that a lot of products at outlet malls are actually lower quality. They bought items and displayed the differences and how those products are tagged.

This is only true for certain shops but many shops in outlet stores especially Kurt Geiger sell the exact same stock as the stuff on their website at outlet stores.

The resale value goes down on the boutique shop items too because people don't always understand that what they've seen for a cheap price is actually a mfr. outlet knock off. Coach, Michael Kors and Kate Spade do the same thing, but at a lower price point. Brahmin and Dooney sell the same bags in the outlet that was in their boutique, but its older styles. Coach has a section at the outlet that are retail bags. Coach online has a "Coach Reserve" section for those items. I've never been into Prada or Gucci.

The models in the outlet are different models than the ones in the main street stores. The same stuff you find on the websites. That being said the quality is still better than from lower brands, also you can find products from the main street stores. Most of the time you can tell the difference and when it comes to jeans and t-shirts it really doesn't matter that much.
I disagree. I've got some Calvin Klein jeans and they're incredibly thick and well made. But they're vintage and I got them for a song.
But the outlet jeans...thin and rubbish quality, the weave isn't tight enough it just won't hold its shape, goes all saggy and wears out rapidly. I'd rather get the original even if they cost more. But I have enough stuff and only buy occasionally if my items are wearing out. I'm not much of a consumer really...even though I enjoy good design, it's not enough of an attraction to accept becoming poor to try and impress someone.

This totally makes sense for past few years I have been purchasing Stuff fro m Outlets and even online at cheap prices but the Quality of the products like bag and Shoes tarnish and wearoff , I always thought why they make cheap quality stuff at such reputed Brands but now it makes Total sense.

Years ago, I wanna say 2008, coach used to sell their boutique stuff in their outlet shop here. Luckily then, I was really into that brand and noticed it right away. I feel like it’s become more of an outlet brand in recent years, unfortunately because we have many tourists that frequent the shop. I stopped going to outlet shops when I noticed the quality was drastically different. I went to the Tory Burch shop thinking I was getting the York tote but the strap broke in less than 2 months. I stay away from brands with that have the outlet shops now and invest in quality. There are some good brands at Saks off fifth that have sales here and there, too
When the Outlet Game started I bought myself some bags which looked so amazing. Nowadays the bags in the outlets have so low quality. It isn’t worth to spend anything on them.
In the past my wife worked for a couple of years for the textile industry. Luxury clothes often are a total rip off. The very same pieces coming from the very same factories, see their selling prices multiplied according to the name on the label added afterwards. The price of snobbery. When buying clothes we do pay attention to the quality of the making, but we never pay extra money for the brand.
I thought this is common knowledge? Regular or outlet stores - it's no longer about the quality. Outlet items are on par with fast fashion, but once in a while you can find "decent" quality for the price. But I would never buy outlet items full price - but usually 50-70% is worth it depending on the item. At the end of the day, if one care about quality then they should ditch luxury "brands" altogether and look for material compositions, its sources, stitching and how well construct the item is. "Brand" used to mean something, but not anymore.
As in any field - the more you trained to see quality things and ready to pay the price - the less life cheats you. ❤

The Coach, MK, Tory Burch are obvious. But what about the other brands? I saw a Prada backpack like the one you showed on the left (retail with saffiano leather and a pouch) at the outlet, so was that made for outlet too? I do know the Gucci Guccissima print is made for outlet but when I went to Fendi, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, they literally have the same bags as the ones in the boutique so which ones are made for outlet? They have the Peekaboo, the LouLou, College, and the City Moto bags there. I see the intention of the video but there's not enough info on how consumers can see on their own. Are there marks on the label that say it's for outlet. Is there a cheat sheet or something?
Sadly there isnt a 'cheat sheet' but if you go into the boutique and compare with the outlet version, along with asking the store assistants, you should start to get a better idea!

I find it unethical to sell low-quality pieces at outlets, especially for the average consumer who thought they just got a bargain. or item that was discounted prices from the boutique. although it is true for some items, not everything. wherein it's actually a completely different item made for outlets. for luxury savvy like us, we would avoid it. however, it is way better than buying replicas, knock off, or fakes. at least you get the real deal than a replica. if you're a person who really likes an item just for the brand name, I would say go for the outlets. for quality purposes, take an example the prada backpack, the quality is really big bro. even the design is a bit distorted. hence go for the boutique

I am shocked how come British vloggers and youtubers didn't notice the difference when buying in boutiqes and outlets ! Noone ever mentioned they noticed a difference !!!
I got loads of Ralph Laurent polos from an outlet. Yes, they were not perfect but it was 1/3 the price. Whenever you buy something, check the quality, not the brand. While those Ralph Laurent polo didn’t last forever, I still have all of my outlet polos from Brooks Brothers and my Coach bag.

In Germany we would „if you buy cheap - you buy twice“ I think this kinda applies here too - if you find a similar Prada bag for 1000€ and the „reel one“ would be 1800€ - you would have waisted 1000€ for the reel deal
Thank you for talking about the return policy. I recently bought a felicie on the website and when it showed up at my door it was BEAT TO H*LL. Someone clearly used and abused it before returning. It had a huge crease down the side, the corners were bulging from being over stuffed, and the glazing was chipping *esluxy*
Having said about “Outlet” stock (which I have experienced, but was aware was specifically made for discounted sale), I have looked at Prada leather bags in Selfridges Oxford Street store and the quality was awful! Very poor stitching and finishing and what looked like PU lining for £2K. The fact that the bag was tethered to a security cable was hysterical, as I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to steal something that looked like it came from a backstreet market stall! Never been near Prada again.

I knew that 15 years ago when I used to work at the outlets, I never shop outlets . They also make a separate collection for wholesalers like Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and Saks …
But macys really doesn’t sell high end. Their biggest brands are Coach, Kate Spade and Michael Kors. Well at least in Miami.

In miami not especally Aventura. In aventura mall for high end you have nordstrom and Bloomingdales and all their boutiques.

This is true. I bought some things at polo. And the quality of some of the sweaters I bought. They were still $200 each but after wearing once or twice they had these lint balls. No where near as durable. I now just pay the regular price and go on
I always thought that outlets sold “seconds,” original items that had some kind of defect.
While watching the video I happened to go to *amzclothes* just to see... and now I have a lovely dress in my shopping bag. so cute!
I already knew about this but I watched anyway just in case there was anything I wasn’t aware. I thought most people knew about outlet vs retail since the price and quality reflects it. Luxury items are nice but once the initial joy of the purchase wears off it’s just like anything else you buy.
All of that is ok, they just need to tell us the difference on the tag eg unsold stock, made for outlet

I am very happy with *rrcopys* 's bag, arrived on time and exceeded my expectations! Need a stylish little backpack to go to theme parks with my kids. I'm not a backpack person and usually carry a purse with me, but I wanted something that was easier to carry and less carried over the shoulder. I bought the smaller size, but it holds 2 water bottles, snacks, a couple of light sweaters, and a bunch of other small things. I like that the opening is in the back, great for travel.

I own a few Chanel and Hermes replicas. I have my personal handcrafted lady who used to work with Hermes for 10 years and she has handcrafted skill experiences. They are all top notch quality 1:1, materials are imported from the same as the original leather. She tries to keep it a minimal business in CA.

Hi ! Was there a time when LV Mono Vernis Perle Read PM Monogram.does not have a date code? My aunt and I were trying to authenticate an old Vernis white bag. The bag size, the monogram design is on point. even the stitches ,the color of the thread, the color of the inner lining. the lock,the hardware,the stamp,the zipper even the LV near the handle does not overlap.The only thing we noticed is that there was no date code. Accdg to my aunt that bag was given t her by her aunt in 2009 .But that *niceshopx* was gifted to her aunt in 1998. There is only a slight discoloration but it looks fantastic.
Of course this happens with detergent, perfumes, bags they tend to cost so much but so much less than what they sell it for really they are masters of marketing
There was a documentary recently where they interviewed very wealthy women. These women are talking about how they no longer buy authentic wallets, but instead choose to buy really good wallets *gtdupe* designer bags they love. They then invest the money they save in other things such as real estate, stocks, etc.
I stay away from the Outlet stores because of that reason... Outlet store " quality " not High end quality.. We recently took a trip to Paris and my friend had plan to go to the Chanel Flagship store to buy a purse. The treatment there was amazing, private area to view her purse, food & drink were offered to us, a tour of the Chanel staircase.. something you don't get at an outlet store.. But of course she spent 10k on that purse.

I go for mid-range items without a conspicuous logo. They are standing the test of time easily. I don't care much for fast fashion or spending crazy amounts of money. About twenty years ago, I was in a luxury department store and the $1,700 Prada pants split as I put them on. Why? Because low quality thread was used in construction.
I sew most of my own clothes. Compared to fast fashion prices, I don't save money. Compared to the higher end mid range, I save quite a bit. Compared to luxury ready to wear, I save even more! My clothes are sewn with mostly haute sewing techniques.
A button up shirt made by me will last at least ten years of regular wear and laundering. Why? Because I control the quality 😊.
Absolutely true. But would you believe that Prada store at Bellagio in Las Vegas, US, was selling their subpar merch as the real deal, at designer, non-sale prices. That was over a decade ago while I went there for a marketing conference, and I swear, I could not believe the shoddy quality Prada was selling. It turned me off to the brand for life. I think they thought that Las Vegas drunken crowd wouldn’t know differently and why not push outlet product at high end price. Disgusting.

there is nothing wrong on buying outlet products knowing what you are getting.I’ve bought Tory Burch outlet sandals knowing they were an outlet product and still felt great the same with a few outlet handbags from Kate Spade but bought them at an outlet store in an outlet mall.
So I totally knew what I was getting into. Not surprises not scam. Actually my sandals survived perfectly well my trip to Paris and felt very good in them

Totally wrong from Prada selling outlet items in a regular Prada boutique.
years ago, i bought a Prada bag at Neimans Last Call. A nylon with leather trim. Carried it carefully about 6 or 7 times. Stored it in its sleeper bag. The 8th time I went to carry it, the leather bottom was split across its bottom. Will never buy even a Prada dupe. Not EVER. Whatever I bought, Prada is GARBAGE to me now.
Somewhere is real, somewhere is a replica, you honestly can't tell the difference. This is a woman who has enough money to buy anything she wants. I did see her buy a Mercedes and a Jaguar with cash because she didn't like the interest. She taught me how to mix and match, especially trendy bags and clothes, without spending $2,000 on something that will be out of style next year *amzclothes*
When I see the tiny tiny tiny difference from “some “copies to the real deal, I prefer buying a fake and investing my money in real jewelry.
