Jermiester777: I saw the movie in first release in 1978 and was a little disappointed--there were a few flaws. Other than that it was fine. The reason it had so many name stars was to make a reason to see the picture, it was a gamble and it worked.
I'll never forget the first time Reeves appeared as Superman on the screen. He almost brought the theater down with all the excited clapping and cheering!
They were showing main characters from the first 2 movies. To me only, 1&2 is actually 1 long Superman movie. Richard Pryor would've been better either of those.

I have the utmost RESPECT for Christopher Reeves. The man was just 25 years old when he was thrown from the horse. He spent the 2nd half of his life trying to make a difference. HIs wife was only 44 when she died a few years after him, she died of Cancer. God bless them both

My favorite movie as a kid and as a adult it broke my heart to hear about Margot kidder and Christopher reeve they were my child hood heroes. May god bless the whole cast.
A fitting tribute to the many actors and actresses who appeared in the four main _Superman_ films - including those who are still with us today, and R.I.P. to those who have since passed away. Surprisingly there are hardly any obvious plastic surgery disasters in this compilation which is a refreshing change.
When Christopher reeve came out the turn style for first time, he was larger than life. Was the most epic moment of my childhood. Goosebumps. It was actually real life. Say JIm.. WOOOOOOOOO! THAT'S a bad outfit! WOOOOOO! Epic..
'Then and Now' videos can be very sobering. Seeing the actors you watched as a kid who have now sadly left this mortal coil only serves to remind you of the fragility of life.
Best film ever. I remember the audience clapping for the 3D looking credits roll at the beginning with swooosh sound effects. Things were simpler back then.
My dad took me to see this Superman movie back in 78. I am so grateful that he is still here to this day. So sad that so many of these actors and actresses aren't here anymore but it puts a smile on my face to see those who still are. Larry Hagman is one actor who I am upset I missed out on meeting as I had to work the weekend of the 30th anniversary of Dallas. I was at Southfork the weekend before as I was based in Texas at the time and would have gone back the next week but I had a gig in Canada and couldn't go. My ex wasn't born when Dallas was at it's heights so she didn't understand what I was so excited about.
Superman is my favorite.. This 1978 epic classic remains in the hall of fame as a true cinematic treasure in all aspects My dad took me when I was 8 years old. And to me this remains the sweetest most lovable memory of him to date.
Sad to know that many of these actors who acted in this wonderful film are gone, but I'm happy to know that some are still alive, even though the vast majority of this cast has already retired from acting.

Brilliant video! I remember this film so well I was about 18 or 19 I think, I'm 61 now and keep seeing people off TV or Film/Music that I haven't seen for years and it knocks me out to see how they have changed, how old they look, I have a good friend I was in a band with when we were 17 that I still know now and he hasn't changed that much to me as I see him all the time but I saw my first girl friend from that same era online a year or so ago and somebody had stolen this gorgeous young blonde girl and replaced her with someone who was old! I know she would think the same if she saw me, all you guys out there who are between 17 and 35 enjoy every bloody moment! I spent too much time arguing and trying to make money and woke up one day and youth had gone! I still feel 19 I still listen to rock music I still love to live but I know that in 20 years there is a good chance I may be dead and I look at how close 20 years ago was how well I remember it and it scares the crap out of me! Age sucks! ..
Paul Harrison with you, there. This was made one year before I was even born, but I own all Superman films and even have the old series with George Reeves, too. I am with you, though. The first one with Christopher Reeve is the best! The director even said that he didn’t think it would ever get as big as it got, but it just became so popular. The sequels were good, but, like with the 2nd one, I own two. A Ricard Donner one and a Richard Lester one. I think they got Lester because he was, I guess owed two films and he got the two sequels but Richard Donner did such a better job at working with these actors and actresses. Miss Christopher and Margot so much.
You present these videos with respect and appreciation, but also a reminder that life is short. Getting old must be especially hard for those for whom looks were a big part of their fame.
I am reminded of an interview the late Hume Cronyn did in his final years. The interviewer asked questions about his late wife, Jessica Tandy, and all the others he had known like Jack Benny, David Niven, Humphrey Bogart and others. At first Cronyn was alright with the questions but after a while he began to become a little reluctant to respond. The interviewer noticed this and asked if there was a problem. Cronyn said not really but it was a little upsetting for him. He then explained that the questions reminded him of all the people who made his life what it was and how he felt like the last dinosaur, the rest were all dead and gone. You had to see the look on his face to get the full impact of what he was saying. He wasn't far off tears. He was the last and he was so tired and lonely without the company of all those who had made his life what it was and the only things left to him were his memories and the long wait...............
That’s one sad story. Thanks for sharing. Superman is a film that brings back so much memories for me and others. A time when the internet was not yet available and people watch whatever was on tv. So often then not it gave people an opportunity to comment on it when catching up with families and friends etc. Time fly...
Well said. My Dad who has since passed, used to say that when the great ones start to go, it's only a matter of time before it's your turn. I was a teen when he said this, with my whole life ahead of me. I'm only now beginning to realize how profound those words turned out to be in my mid sixties.
I remember long ago an elderly Stan Laurel being interviewed. He said he never watches his wonderful old films. He said it's too much "like looking at a bunch of bloody ghosts".
Such a fantastic cast for a Super hero movie you'll never get a cast like that again Christopher Reeves, Terence Stamp,Marlo Brandon,Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder,Sunnah York the list goes on.
Some how I agree that Christopher Reeve is the true Superman of all Superman actors be in past or present or future. He was born uniquely to play that role as Superman in 70's. His charisma and acting suited him well. Sadly, he passed on with a good memories. RIP Mr Reeves,.
All these actors /actresses who have played superheroes don't even come close to Christopher Reeves playing Superman. He was the living embodiment of the Superman character. Even the actors on set commented that seeing Reeves in his Superman costume on set was a sight to behold what with his tall, impressive physique and striking good looks. I was an avid reader of the DC comics and Reeves managed to pull of Superman's character (and Clark Kent) remarkably well and this is coming from someone who is extremely critical of what Hollywood has done to the DC and Marvel superheroes. The only other actors that got close to the real characters was Tom Hiddleston who played Loki, Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine and Heath Ledger playing Joker. To me, Christopher Reeves was Superman and the best.
@Lance Penguin - That's why I said other actors who got 'close'. Had he been short and stocky he would have been up there with Christopher Reeves. He portrayed the part just like the comic book but, like you say, he's a bit too tall.
I still remember watching this movie at the theater and when superman makes his first appearance... wow! And the theme, perfect, so perfect in fact that Hollywood has used it for every superman movie since. Christopher Reeves will forever be Superman.

He portrayed the part just like the comic book but, like you say, he's a bit too tall.
oddly,he got the part in spite of being considered too skinny.he had to gain 40 lbs. before production began.
Reeve made all other Supermans look bad. Even Cavil.
Missed your vlogs, real shame that so many of the cast are no longer with us, that with the classic music had me nearly in tears.
Too bad we gotta get old...☹️
i know right...... in heaven will never get old. Will have glorious body..
@@anthonyramos3583 AMEN brother!
I agree. I remember when I was 18,and now I'm almost 50 soon.
He was such good actor and best super man.
Thanks for this video
Keep the music, it's still so matching and appropriate.
Always Superman❤❤
Heaven is a rewind button....fingers crossed everybody.
Superman = Christopher Reeve.
This is much better then the ones with the robotic commentary. I will never put down the background music again.
Bittersweet music!
I really enjoy the before and after pics, but truth be told, the only reason I subscribed was because of the music!! Love it
I98ster. I agree.
Do u know what the musics called ?
Life is too short. Hope all of us find a true way to live in this temporary world.
Amen to that word 'temporary'
私の年代のスーパーマンの曲はこれだな🎶懐かしい😃往年の俳優さん女優さんカッコいい 綺麗ですね👏
I still remember watching this movie at the theater and when superman makes his first appearance... wow! And the theme, perfect, so perfect in fact that Hollywood has used it for every superman movie since. Christopher Reeves will forever be Superman.
Reeve. ReeveS was George.
This movie is the template for the MCU.
Gene Hackman is 90 this year. Insane how time flies
