Oh hey that's my box! Glad you enjoyed it so much. A few notes for context:
Good news! The pinball robot actually does work fully (unless it broke in the mail). The small spring-loaded pins in the side (underneath the legs) are the triggers for the bumpers. It's amazing how much detail they managed to get in that thing.
I distinctly remember buying the PowerDasher in a bargain bin at a local mall. I doubt it was even pre-packaged; it was just lying there with a bunch of other toys. Like you, I was just captivated by the vehicle mode.
The weird black drill robot with the yellow head was indeed a chewing gun promotional item, because it smelled like stale chewing gum for my *entire* *childhood*. I'm almost certain I didn't order it; it just came in a package of something else.
I was a *massive* Voltron fan, thus all the various and sundry Voltron toys. I believe I saved up to buy all the lions of the wheeled Voltron but never was able to afford the central one. The light-up Voltron was turned on and off by the tail; I think tucking it in turned on the light. Obviously not working now.
In any event, glad you and the viewers enjoyed it!
Brent or @Dan - do you know the product line/name/any info on the little black camera transformer thing? I have one that’s missing an arm. I think it says Mark MA1 on it or something. Not sure if it was part of a larger product line or what...
Also is the correct name/spelling of that red and yellow guy “Bytron BATL”? I had that as well, but can’t find any trace of that name on the web
By any chance are you 46 years old? lol
Dude this that's awesome!👍🤙
You seem like exactly the sort of person who I was hoping would contribute to the yard sales I used to visit with my grandparents as a kid.
We didn't have a lot of money so I had many of those cheaper toys you got in that box. So many times during this vid I gasped remembering those. Thank you sooo much for this walk back memory lane.
1 byte snack...same here..i loved the 80s and the toys at the time
I’m right there with you, buddy. So excited to see these forgotten little fellas.
Count me in that group! Lol
I hear that... I wondered one day why I bought so many small cheapos instead of Transformers... and it was because I could afford them, especially K·B clearance!
I call it government cheese poor.
But the cheese box made Great garages barns and fortresses for my rummage sale toy collection.
Number 1 toy of all time = imagination.
I don't care. Laugh if you want to but I just felt a tear in my eyes when I saw all those toys!
One of the definition of my childhood! I love you, Dan!
Take it how you want!
I wonder if there's someone out there who is neck deep in Changeables lore. Writing fan fiction, drawing maps of the Changeables universe, building dioramas...
You just described my entire life in 25 words 😕
@@evilubuntu9001 See, people just really don't see what those types of people see. What some of them need to do is narrate the stories in such a way that they can present it for general consumption.
(I know it's about a funny transformers/toy thing, but I've read some really interesting shit from fanfic writers... :-) )
Perfect application of the Willhelm scream. Bravo, Producer Greg! Bravo!!
That was perfect
That's also my notification sound; I actually paused to check my messages.
The line you can’t remember is legion of power by tonka
There it is!
Beat me to it. Loved that range
I had some Legions of Power sets a long time ago. The tiny action figures were really cool. I think they also had some mini-comics in the sets. Could make for a fun Oddities episode.
smithco yeah they did have little comics I think. I remember some of the sets were motorised. The figures were tiny, ironically I don’t have any of the vehicles etc left, but I do still have one or two of the figures
Line revival, Hasbro?
The robot watch was one of most prized toys growing up. Bootleg ones were abundant at any fleeting market of the 80's! 💯
Whoever sent that in thank you! You didn't just gift Dan with them, but you gifted us with flashback memories!!! Very cool!
You're welcome! :-D
Mother-in-law is coming over on my day off. Wife asked me to clean the house. What am I doing? Sitting on the toilet watching Dan play with robots. Life is good.
Oh man I used to have that watch. I have always thought that would be so cool metal and modernized.
Me and my brother had grey ones that came inside our McDonalds happy meals and I was brave enough to wear mines to school 4th grade 1984 or so!!!🤖
I had the chrome-gold watch too.
@Lisa Lisa They were initially from a line called Kronoform
tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/0/0d/Kronoform_timemachines.jpg
I also had the "Robot Time Machine" guy (in chrome silver!!!!!)
ruclips.net/video/2Ql1RzhthWo/видео.html
Hey Lisa, do you remember................
was it the Inviceptor (much more stylish plane) or the Deceptor (much more crude plane)
Was it from the original Kronoform brand?????
www.soundwavesoblivion.com/files/toyphoto/kronoformautokroncountach.jpg
or was it the "actual" Transformers brand??????
www.soundwavesoblivion.com/files/toyphoto/g1autoceptor.jpg
They are basically the same watches; they just had different packaging, showcasing the Transformers logo instead of the Kronoform logo.
tfwiki.net/wiki/Deceptor
The black Topps car with the yellow robot face is from the Switch-A-Robot line of candy containers! If you take the head off, you can place it on the top of the big auger... BOoom! you got a robot!
Wow, that pinball machine converter is adorable. I'll take 10 please.
so many things I had that I forgot all about.
Wowwwww - fell in love with the pinball Converter.
Master motorized Voltron!
My mom got that for me for Christmas when I was like 8 years old. I found it and played with it every day and then put it back in the packaging. By Christmas day, the red lion was already broken!
I remember those watch transformers. I had the red one that popped off the strap. That was my favorite watch when I was a kid back in the 80s. Talk about a hit right to the nostalgia.
Special guest appearance of the 'Wilhelm Scream' near the end. Nice one.
Hi Dan, I still own that Voltron. The switch for the light is his tail.
Man, I had one of those robot watches when I was a kid too. Great stuff!
The Super-Deformed Valkyrie was my favorite.
IIRC it was only released in the US as a pack in with the anniversary DVD box-sets.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio No. This one is the original design, released in Japan in 1983, imported as a CONVERTORS toy several years later, and knocked off extensively. You're thinking of Toynami's Robotech toy, which is designed on the same pattern, but which is a different modern toy.
@@AcroRay Could be. I just remember a chunky little chibi-style robot of similar appearance. Having finally found a picture, yeah, they're pretty different in detail, especially the cockpit/chest.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio Toynami's owner & lead creator, George Sohn, has described that he wanted to make toys like the ones that he grew up with - those 70s & 80s chogokin & Real Type classics. So much of Toynami's work are homages - or at least highly informed-by - pieces like these, to capture that style & feel. :-)
I saw some toys I played with as a kid in that Box Thanks for bringing back some good memories
That one with the Dyno Power motor were pull-back cars. When you change them, you plug the motor in back of the feet so you can run them in robot mode. I had a couple of them that was bought at a local supermarket in the 80s.
It’s like you opened up a piece of my memory I hadn’t used for a long time.
I remember having watch like that growing up. I had more of the knock off toys as well. such memories.
Rock lords used to be sold in the Avon catalog, that's how I got mine!
Oh my god thank you SOOOO much for getting me the name of the "legions of power by tonka" toy line. It was so frustrating sort of remembering the storyline but not the name... I had a ton of these and can't find them, I remember loving them (a couple of them even made it into a later season of Star Trek TNG as props! I distinctly remember it was a square box with two rectangular doors. I was watching the new bluray tng eps and got so excited.). I'm going to have to buy some off ebay now!
Thanks for this name. My cousin had these when I was a little kid, and searching for them now, all I could come up with was StarCom or Robotix. Legions of Power is what to look for. Many thanks!
Starcom was the coolest space toy line of the 80s. I wish I had more of them as a kid.
I also clicked to watch simply because I saw that robot watch in the thumbnail. A favorite toy from my childhood. I had the upscale detachable brand you mentioned but mine was the bottom of the line small and black robot. My friends had the bigger and colorful versions. You were right about the pinball machine robot being sold in lower end 'toy stores.' I believe that my mom got me mine at the neighborhood Vons supermarket.
Omg I had the blue faced rock guy! What a nostalgia gut punch
XABUNGLE!! XABUNGLE!! some old school right there. cool stuff
Wow I got so many of these cheap robot toys when I was young, I still remember the pinball robot. Look, the flippers actually work, they are operated by the two "buttons" that are pushed inside to fit the legs. In the video you can see the flippers raised when you put the legs in the correct position :D
I had that Voltron, and that watch! And the hamburger, and my cousin had that weird green Transformer. So nostalgic!
The blue and red construction set toy was ligions of power. I forgot about McDonald's Changeables. Oh, man memories of Rock Lords, the insect Converter.
Wow, it's been decades since I've seen that robot watch. I'd forgotten all about it.
I remember that big mac. It turns into a Dinosaur. Really cool.
That space toaster looking thing with the gold ring is the hand beam gun from the Mobile Sumo in Turn A Gundam. Probably from a HG. After finishing that gold hand is the Mobile Sumo’s as well!
This box was golden! Thanks for showing
The company that made the knock off bombshell toy is called, "Four Star".
I would love if you made a video going into detail about them, they're history is truly facinating.
Transistor Robots is the name of the line put out by Four Star circa 1985. In addition to some fairly blatant knock-offs, they had some unique molds too. In my area, they were sold through TG&Y.
They were sold by K-mart here on the east coast. Four Star is a guilty pleasure of mine 🥰
I had the silver version of that same Robot Watch. I had mine in 4th grade. I remember it being taken away by my teacher countless times lol
Starcom was a great toy line, I sadly only had that spider fly looking thing you got there, but the concept was really cool.
Legions of Power is the building set you couldn't remember. Sold by Tonka, created by Bandai.
I loved that line! I used it to make space guns like 90% of the time.
man lookin at these was like looking in my own old toybox i had so many of these as well.
OMG i had that rubber Dairugger! Had no idea it was Voltron-related for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeearrrrrrs~~!
Amazing video, my favourite were the little robot pinball machine, cash register and slot machine, looks like they’d look good with some of the GoBots
As far as I know, Starcom was the only toyline specifically developed to promote NASA, which is why all of the hero toys were designed to have utilitarian as well as combat rolls. One of my favorite toylines when it came out. Sadly, most of the parents in the neighborhood thought the figures were too small and would get lost, so my little brother and I were the only kids I knew who had any.
The red and blue "Power Dasher" was originally part of the Diaclone line, and was released in the U.S. in stores under the "Diakron" label with a miniature magnetic-booted figure (there's a slot on the robot's chest that you can slide the figure into), and was later released in the Transformers line as a mail-away exclusive.
A lot of good memories in that box.
i had one red and one blue robot watch when i was a kid. i loved them.
Xabungle toys are Blue Gale Xabungle while the giant red/yellow land ship is Iron Gear. I always loved that Xabungle was controlled with a steering wheel while Iron Gear used a ship's wheel. The red figure just before the Bumblebee appears to be from L-Gaim but I couldn't get a clear enough view to fully identify it.
Thank you! I have an Irongear knock-off and I've been trying to find more about him for years!
I'm a huge transformers and gobots fan and I love select convertors. They were their own legitimate brand. The Japanese company they got their molds from was the same one who gave molds to Hasbro. That's why they have miniature versions of roadbuster whirl and the robotech robots
13:40 That was the version of Lion Voltron I had, and I loved it. I had the full size vehicle version.
That Jeep "worse than a gobot", man I remember those. There was a shit ton of those around at discount stores etc. Thye all transformed in the exact same way, and that pull back motor thing always went missing :P
After the unboxing, the table looks like Junkion!
Cool stuff. I had that last tiny yellow transformer car but a bit larger and as an eraser. Of course, that meant that I had an excuse to have it in my desk at school even though I never would have considered using it to erase anything. He and my penbot were pals.
🥷🏻💪 NICE! Love that SCORPSHELL!!!!
OMG!! You really took me back with this video. I had soo many of those. Thank you!
19:09 !!! The Starcom M-6 Railgunner! My favorite of the ground vehicles!!! Oh man! I used to have one! I need one for my collection! And that's in amazing condition! I'm so jealous!
I have that Pinball Convertor from way back in the day... so cool that it was functional like the slot machine one, which I have also. That Xabungle toy is pretty cool!!
I was 10 or 11 when Starcom came out, I loved it and was shocked when it didn't take off.
All those bug guys are definitely Converters. There was a bug faction, a bird faction and a big cat faction among others. I bought them all at Kay Bee back in the day. A couple of them were down-sized versions of the deluxe Insecticons. That tiny Valkyrie was also a Convertor. I believe they were called Maladroids in that line.
Wow, some great toys in that box....LUCKY!!!😁😁😁
Congratulations 👍
Watching this video made me feel the way that food critic felt at the end of Ratatouille. I kinda want to shed a tear!
I had that Army Jeep as a Kid. It wasn't a Gobot but they had a whole line of these. The trike at the end was also from that line. They also had a Locomotive, Construction vehicles, Trucks aso. That thing you took off had friction. A cool gimmick to let them drive or even drive while standing up in robot mode. No idea what the name was, but in Europe you could get them everywhere really cheap. As a kid I didn't care as long it transformed :D
I came to watch just because of the Watch robot on the thumbnail! I had like 5 of those.
That was a big box of good old memories! Fantastic stuff.
I had that Starcom...whatever it is. Hahaha.
16:00 That's a weapon of the golden Sumo from Turn A gundam
This episode looks like someone raided my old toy box.
Lotta great stuff in there.
What a great trip down memory lane, many of those things I haven't seen since my childhood. Modern takes of some of those old Converters would be awesome, favorite was the watch cause I'm still collecting them.
I'm here drooling over this treasure chest!
Judging by the comments, you're not alone
I had the chrome gold watch too!!! I didn't know anybody else who had that one. Cheers!
I had a few of those ManTech toys- totally loved those. Used to get them at Payless back in the day. Had totally forgotten about those!
Like watching a kid on Xmas! A very big kid.
i bought the pinbot off a kid at a campsite fleamarket when i was 6 and i had it for YEARS the flippers DO actually work
15:29 i forget the name, but i had some of those. They had a pull-back motor that could be swapped into different vehicles, that's the part that pops off with the back wheels attached. They were awesome 👍
I had alot of these growing up especially that slot machine robot wow did u bring back alot of memories thank u sir who remembers or had starriors or the toys that had water fire and wood stickers i also had that robot watch and that motorcycle toy at the end
Jealous of the Micromaster figure, pretty cool
I had the Gold Grasshopper, Blue Stag Beetle and the Black Beetle. They came as a pack together. I also had issues with the Black losing his head, and the little legs snapping off. There was also a Purple Scorpion, but that may have come separately.
Yay, a Cosmos. I always liked that cute little Transformer. :)
20:49 “There are dozens of us! DOZENS!!!”
But don’t worry, you are correct, all the bugs (except the Bombshell) and also the game bots are indeed Convertors 😎 and the tiny black camera. and the chibi valk might be too. Select did put them in the line, but Bandai did a series of egg valks around 2000 as well, so check the markings. 😉
Ah, yes! That little green and blue transformer with the matching jet was the decepticon 'Roughstuff' (since I had him myself - last transformer I ever bought as a kid). Also had Gobot Tank and that grey Rocklord 'Granite'. My brother had 'Boulder'. Very cool toys. Very robust and lovely to look at.
This truly is the LGR of action figures.
What a haul! I had that slot machine robot hehe
That little yellow transforming car was a gumball machine toy called "Car Robot" from 85/86. There were 4 or 5 different toys that came in various colours.
I had that exact watch, man that is a blast from the past! Cheers👍🍻
Always cool seeing the blast from the past in these boxes you get! I loved the StarCom stuff as well and had a decent little collection. Don't feel bad I don't think a lot of people knew there was a cartoon until years later. Fun line. I also remembered the other modular line you showed but wasn't for sure until you found the little driver. Then I was like "I DID have that line" lol.
Love your videos on all these toys and cartoons
Cant tell if we are blessed or spoiled but I had all of those things as a child.
When I was older I had all the starcom toys and loved them.
You know what, I am going to say it. I am jealous that you got all these cool toys. lol
The gold hand and the gun with the gold ring belong to the 1/100 Sumo from Turn A Gundam.
I was a sucker for magnets, so starcom had magnets AND wind up motorization? I loved space cartoons for the most part as well. Sign me up!. I think I had that pinball toy if not one like it.
That Macross/Robotech SD Veritech is fantastic. I'm still looking for a reasonably priced one! Nice haul!!
I loved starcom also. The toys we're alot of fun but it was hard to catch the cartoon. No idea why they weren't more popular.
Oh man, memory lane right here. I had so many of those toys. I had all 3 of those Voltrons, the robot pinball machine, that "Truxx Battle Wagon" bot, the BAT-L bot, that weird bug changer, a couple of those Mantech figures, a few Starcom sets which I loved, and even that chibi Veritech fighter. I had a robot watch as well, but it turned into Voltron. So many great toys and so many memories. The switch for that Voltron with the light in it is the tail, so when you flipped it up, you turned it on. So the bulb must be bad or something. Many of these knock-off transforming robots could be found in stores like TG&Y or at flea markets. They were cheap so they ended up in a lot of kids' toy chests.
Ohh man what a sweet box of goodies
Is it really sad that I have the full set of the McDonald's Changeables, including the McDinos?
nopes
best toys from McDs!
No. Those things are awesome!
Not sad at all. That's actually pretty damn awasome.
You sir, have the best McDonald's toys that were ever produced!
Only a couple of the dino ones were kinda naff. But no, that's awesome! I miss my Big Mac and Pterodactyl hotcakes.
Starcom was just so ahead of its time.
I received the watch guy (in blue) and that camera thing as part of my parents and grandparents quest to quench my undying thirst for transformers.
I remember those transforming watches
