He is the Barry Sanders of bowling, the greatest in many peoples eyes including myself. It’s like poetry in motion, it’s beautiful. The pain is what took his professional career away early.
Great video. He doesn't get his elbow/wrist inside the ball as much as I expected. Nice to see in super slow mo. This is fundamental concept for those wanting to improve their reaction on heavier oil.
great video very nice camera work robert smith great guy i met him like a week ago here in vegas for TOC tourny very friendly very fast small elbow bend all the way working inside the ball and just uncup and snap at the bottom crazy rev rate I hope he wins more fantastic bowler
It's a great demo of the yo-yo release technique. He really loads up that ball on the down swing as it passes his hip then unloads at the tip of his toe.
Everyone has their own style. Watch the pros and don't just note what they do, but -why- they do it. Most styles look different, but have the same fundamentals.
@MuteOrators you do know he uses a drill setup that isnt conventional? I dont know what it's called, but i think he puts his middle finger in up to second knuckle, and ring finger to first knuckle. That's how he generates so much rpm
@SuperTeremus Yeah, im a new bowler so i didnt know much about Sarge Easter, but then i was watching a match with Michael Fagan ( i believe he also uses Sarge Easter?) and the commentors said something about the grip slows down his RPM. Has robert smith gone conventional though? The last few years i've watched on youtube of him bowling he seems to have gone to the conventional finger-tip drilling.
it's funny how almost all the advice i've seen lately says something about keeping the wrist straight, but i clearly see a snapping of the wrist with mr. smith here. interesting to see the difference between words and actions here.
@MrThinroyy In typical shots, Belmo, Osku and Robert have about the same rev rate which is 550-650rpms. Robert can bring it up to 700+ at highest but Belmo once threw a 1200rpm shot. Don't know about Osku though, he seems to prefer more ball speed with lower revs and throw it kinda straight.
different releases for different conditions and needs. This was part of the "Demo" video and Rober himself explains he can throw the same ball in different ways to cover x amount of boards that will cover the different needs by the oil pattern without slowing down the ball or changing starting position. Axis rotation also plays a huge factor in this too. In the end is a all a big equation of vectors once it hits the dry
I know how he revs da ball n by seeing it slow mo wont do any gd if anybody wants 2 learn his style...revs is not a prob but ball speed requires strength n stamina.

Waited for this image; served as a reference very much

It really looks like something anyone could do but believe me it is quite difficult. It requires a strong wrist, great timing and a loose armswing.
This movie just makes me "Wow" everytime I see this.
もう「凄い」としか言い様がないです。
excellent video, thanks for sharing
great release... i wish i can meet RS!

The crazy thing is that he's throwing that ball at 25 miles an hour with 700 RPMs on it. And people say EJ Tackett is the highest rev one-hander.

@jonglifunchow He was using the Mutant Cell.

UltimateWWEPro
The release almost looks like a replicate of ej Tackett’s release
There is a video of Belmo bowling regular like in his games and he has a 600-650 rpm ball. I am sure he can bowl with more revs but why?

He does have more revs, but not like he use to. Bak in the day he had more revs than any 1 hander or 2 hander
He averages in the 600 rpms during tournaments.
3歩目まで膝が伸びていて、4歩目で深く踏み込むのか…。
そうそう四歩目の沈み込みが肝らしいですね〜わかっちゃいるけどタイミングが合わないです(^^;;
私も3歩目で既に膝がくしゃっとなっちゃうんですよねぇ。。。。
great vid but i still dont kno wat he is doing, all the instructionals say one thing and this guy is doin somethin else
he is a unique bowler emulating his style will be next to impossible
@MuteOrators Don't try to bowl like him; try to improve your natural ability.
