- One day in Trieste, Italy (what to visit)
The Province of Trieste is situated towards the end of a narrow strip of land in southeast Friuli Venezia Giulia, between the Adriatic Sea and Italy's border with Slovenia. This is an extraordinary destination for its historic treasures, artworks and middle-European character. Off Trieste's coast is its broad Gulf, with numerous tiny bays, small harbours and breathtaking reefs; of course, Miramare Castle is accompanied by the splendid blue of the sea. The area of Trieste is characterized by the steep karstic landscape continually revealing different, unique and charming features. Close to the coast is a rocky moor with Mediterranean vegetation, where the Bora wind blows, while inland are hills with hollows and scrubs. Several protected areas in the region include the Val Rosandra Nature Reserve, the Marine Reserve of Miramare, and the Falesie di Duino Nature Reserve. The Marine Reserve of Miramare is located in a coastal sea landscape characterized by sharp rocks and diverse underwater flora and fauna. The Falesie di Duino Nature Reserve is known for its white cliffs that overhang the sea. The charm of the area resides not only in its natural traits but also in the elegant city of Trieste, where the Habsburg influence is noticeable; the inland small towns with their longstanding traditions; and other quaint touristic draws on the coast - countless gems set within this tiny strip of land.

My grandpa was born in Trieste and moved to Australia last year I got to go to Italy and meet my extended family in Trieste and it was amazing I’m going back this year
I was born in Trieste , but lived most of my life in the USA . I am very proud of the beauty of Trieste! I call it a gem of a secret. Tourism is not as big as other cities in Italy making it more fun and exciting! so many places to go and see from Castel de Mira Mar to the viale to Opicina . Its a beautiful city in a beautiful part of the world !
Thank you for watching and for your lovely comment! Best regards!
the great italy ,no place compares to it
what a nice italian sky....i miss italy....dopo 35 anni all'estero.
Italy is my favorite.. I've only been to Florence, Rome, and amalfi coast but this might be on my bucket list when I return next year.
Passports and Grub : Where Travel & Food Intertwine yesss it is amazing
Lorenzo from Trieste.
There is a little mystake: here there where a very little amount of people who speak german. There where a lot who speak slovenian.
A curiosity: the aquarium has in the same structure the central fishmarket (now art center called enchants saloon) and tre entire structure is also called "Santa Maria del Guato" for his towerbell without a bell
Correct, but those do not speak slovenian because of "influence from near Slovenia" but because Slovene are natives in Trieste and surroundings (in all the region in fact)!
Thank you. I have just one thing to say, we don't speak German anymore, also because the Italian was the most spoken language also during the austrian empire
There are two languages, Italian and Slovenian.
I have been there for a month. The city is beautiful, the people there are very nice.
Very nice? Haha
I was born in Trieste, but grew up in Australia. I still have family there and went for a holiday a few years ago. I just loved it. It is a very elegant city with lovely architecture, but the lifestyle is very bon vivant. Triestini are happy-go-lucky people and love life and enjoy fun and friendship. I loved your video but was surprised you did not include Il Faro (lighthouse) or MiraMare Castle - most beautiful castle on the point. Truly worth a video all its own.
@@underscore2824 if you don't give any explanation about your "hatred" and dislike towards a WONDERFUL city like Trieste, well, honestly your sentence doesn't make any kind of sense: yours is merely an empty statement without motivations.
Beautiful Trieste 💖
Great video - exemplary of Trieste, just spending 3 days here and will return!!! LOVE TRIESTE, one of our favorite cities in our 5 trips to Italia! Ciao for now!
Lisa Maglione, thank you for watching! Ciao! :)
La città più bella d'Italia

Mom was born there
Spent all my summers in Trieste
Beautiful place
Beautiful people!
I am currently Producing an Art Vlog Series about My Journey, I have the first 4 episodes up on Rome and next Chapter coming is beautiful Trieste. =)
So much great information here! I especially liked the Teatro Romano, I love hearing about the ancient history of a place.
Nata e cresciuta a Trieste. Cosa dire...
Thanks for the video, my family is from here and I’m planning to visit/discover my heritage a bit, so this was beyond helpful!
Thanks for making a video about this lovely Slovenian city of Trst🇸🇮
Ciao Tito....

Great footage. lots of good information. Trieste looks amazing and with such a rich culture.
I passed through Trieste last year on my tour around Europe, unfortunately we didn't stay long, looks incredible
I love that town.
Stunning views...
Breathtaking landscapes ( seaside, beaches, hills, waterfalls, cliffs and much much more )
My grandmother came to Brazil by the port of Trieste. I have been there to see it and the Adriatic that brought her. 😍
was looking for this as I'm going to be 1 day in Trieste on my way to Slovenia. Very helpful thanks.

A Itália é a jóia da Europa, não, é a jóia do mundo!
Its my city really very beautiful i love my city trieste i miss my city
Congratulations for the video.
This video shows very well what is possible to visit in Trieste in only one day.
The aquarium is not really beautiful but I would add, between the Roman theater and the hill of San Giusto, the part of old city with the roman ruins of Cucherna tower and Riccardo's arch.
If you want to stay more days I recommend:
- walk behind seafront. Piazza Unità, piazza Cavana, piazza Hortis, via Torino, piazza Venezia and Revoltella museum
- walk
along Via San Nicolò, piazza Repubblica, viale XX Settembre, visit the Synagogue and drink coffe (Trieste is the capital of coffe) in historical "antico caffè San Marco"
- take the Opicina tram in piazza Oberdan and walk on the Napoleonic road to the sanctuary of Monte Grisa (an eco-monster where you can enjoy a breathtaking view)
just outside the city center
:
- Miramar castle and Vittoria lighthouse
- the foiba of Basovizza and the underlying natural reserve of the Val Rosandra
- the Gigante cave (the tourist cave with the largest natural room in the world)
- the risiera di san Sabba
and more and more
Why didn't you mention that James Joyce lived there?
I love the rustic beauty of this place. The architecture is simply beautiful. I definitely wanna go there someday!
I hope you will do it
The path along the walls would be my favorite thing not to miss. I love a good view
Wow.. wonderful video... Nice place to visit....👍😀

It miss a lot of things but Trieste is a beautiful city
I visited this city 2 years ago while transit from Ljubljana. Beautiful and amazing city
When I was a kid I went out with an Italian called Laura Rhodio. She studied in Trieste and I went there to see her. All the Italians I met treated me like a king and brought me out everywhere. I will never forget it. Gratzie! :)
The most beautiful city in Italy
go to Naples then ---- BEAUTY WE TALK ABOUT NO TRASH
@@underscore2824 well... not tourist friendly maybe (but we must undenstand what you mean by "tourist friendly), for sure not expensive, compared with many others.
@@underscore2824 to vist Trieste you cannot just walk through the streets. You must watch every detail, every little part and breath the armosphere. The most of you think "Austria" but there are so many different culture in it! There are plenty of churchs of so many religions for example, and so mane architectonical styles. Neoclassic is just one of them, but there's romanic and gothic and so many others! Hungary you said, and it's true: in some part is like Budapest of course (again, Austria)... but I will remind you that the main liric theatre (il Verdi) is like La Scala in Milano: the architect Pietro Nobile build the Verdi in Trieste and after La Scala.
A correction it is a Slovenian city
@@crnikonj9318 * No, slovenian people are the minority, don'y you know?
Trieste looks like a lovely place to visit!
It's a really beautiful city
Seriously though. I've been to Italy a few times but have never been able to venture to Trieste! I'd love to visit if/when I return to Italy, for sure! The buildings are so incredibly elegant, and I'd love to learn more about its history!
i was born in trieste in 1950 now in australia what a beautifull city.
Trieste a beautiful city with an interesting history and quieter with less tourist than most Italian cities. A really nice place, well worth a visit. I know I have been there !
I'm in Trieste right now. I love the gardens around the Miramare.
....the Miramare CASTLE.
View from train while entering Trieste was beautiful... I was coming from Venice... Had spend couple of hrs around Trieste stn before heading to Ljubljana... Cute little town and people here I found better than what were in Rome... Helpful and gentle...

Several years from now, I'll continue my education here!
I have never even hear of that city really... But it looks awesome!
That's because it's not that big or famous as other big Italian cities
What is the point in pointing out you have never HEARD of it? Enlighten us all please.
Trieste che tristezza oltre la piazza dell'unità El bar degli specchi E il porto non c'è più nulla

That white text at the bottom is so difficult to read and follow quickly. I wish a verbal narrator would be saying what the the text says.
We drove thru Trieste on our way to Slovenia. It’s in a beautiful location and has an interesting history, We planned to spend some time there but didn’t see any parking available in the center. And the center looked kind of dirty and rundown, including the Grand Canal. Not very welcoming for tourists.
💝💝💝💝💝
The script is too small and the white pring too difficult to read....it also flashes past too quickly to read everything. This is my mother's hometown and my home till age 7, so I would have liked 2B a le 2 read what you said a lot it....maybe ed you could narrate it as well?...anyway, it's always a treat 2C my beautiful Trieste and know that others appreciate its beauty a d ri h heritage as well. Thank you 4 such a nice tribute 2 my City.😊

"It's an Italian city that speaks Italian, but it was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire for hundreds of years so it also speaks German." What about Slovenians and Slovene language?
