  • Trieste is a beautiful little city along the Istrian peninsula right up next to Slovenia and Croatia. We loved it for its amazing architecture, of which our favorite was probably the Miramare Castle which sat on the coastline and had a lovely garden area. There’s a ferry you can take to get to it, and we would definitely recommend it because it allows you to get an incredible view of the castle and its coastline from the water.
In Trieste, we also marveled at how intertwined the city is with old ruins from the Roman empire. This really is an amazing city to visit if you’re looking to see some of Italy’s awesome architecture while not getting overrun with crowds!

Italy... Italy... roman... Trieste was Austria from 1382 to 1918, was Deutsch Reich from 1943 to 1945 and a free city from 1945 to 1954... that shaped our town!

Highly convinced you can’t pick a bad spot in Italy! The grounds around the castle are so beautiful. That public park looks really nice too.
And omg that theater. Absolutely love how you stumble upon old stuff like that in European cities. Also, love your sunglasses Sabrina! - Rachel

Yeah I’m starting to think that too!! We considered not going to the castle since it was so out of the way but I’m so glad that we did! And thank you 🥰

I had so much fun watching your video/reliving my trip to Trieste. We went there on one of our James Joyce tours, and we didn't want to leave. I tell everyone about Trieste when they go to Italy. Lots of my friends were unfamiliar with it, but as soon as they discover it, they see why everyone loves that city.

@@MarshallandSabrina So I was a bit jealous watching this video as I want to go back and see Trieste. Then I got even more jealous watching your Tbilisi videos as I haven't been there and have always wanted to visit Georgia. It's on my to-do list. Safe travels!

You should have given some history around Miramar. I haven’t gone in - was just there. Will get there. It was owned by Maximilian - Hapsburg - brother of the emperor. He was number 2 so they found him an empire. Mexico. Didn’t work out well for him. The Mexicans executed him. His wife, went nuts and was sent back to Belgium I believe. 10:51
