The bells, the bells! Among the best I've ever heard, I think (11:25). Most of the RUclips videos I've seen of Ohrid were filmed during the pandemic, so I think this is the first time I've seen something from inside the churches. Ridiculously beautiful, whether inside or outside though!

Yeah how well that church was restored was just insane to us. Walking through there alone with the bells blaring was definitely a unique experience!

I must correct you about one thing - the architecture that you persistently name Ottoman is actually local and most probably invented in Macedonia as a central region of the Balkans and later spreading all over the Byzantine Empire. So it is more related with the pre - Ottoman tradition of the Eastern Mediterranean area than with the Ottoman Empire. Even the Greek historians of Art name this architecture Macedonian. Of course not because the Macedonian Masons were the most prominent builders of this typical style but because of the region Macedonia which is today shared by four countries. And please you don't have to use the term North when you talk about Macedonia. The Macedonians feel as if you are bulling them with this term. Just use the ever lasting and timeless name of my country - Macedonia. When you go to Greece you could emphasize, if you want, that you are referring to the Greek province of Macedonia. Otherwise it's really not necessary to offend the Macedonians with this stupid additional nonsense "North". Simply there is no other country in the world that is named either South or West or East Macedonia. There is only one state in the world that names itself Macedonia. the rest of the region enters into the other neighboring countries of the Republic of Macedonia only as parts - regions of those states like Bulgarian or Greek province of Macedonia.

Otherwise I really am grateful that you promote Macedonia in a very polite and fair way

Wow thank you so much for your thoughtful response! We were unaware of the architecture point you made and confused on the naming of Macedonia given the province in Greece. We really appreciate the clarification and how nice you were about it. We really loved Macedonia by the way 😊

Amazing coverage of another beautiful area! Especially loved all the stonework in the old churches.

It's Macedonian architecture.Macedonian medieval houses. Plaosnik is more then 2000 years old .In 9 th and 10 th cent that was University, probably the first in the world. Now it's under excavation and reconstruction. The churches were turned in to Mosques when some of the Macedonians converted to Islam .Most of them were Lords in service to the Emperor. The reason why they've turned to Islam was unlimited sources of soldiers recruiting from middle east.and northern Africa for the war campaigns at the time . Byzantine is actually Macedonian "Visant "- meaning High ,Highest. Empire. Cuz it was milenial Empire more.then 2000 years at the time 10-11th cent there were many Lords discendents of the Royals. They fought each other who will rule the Empire.Eastern Lords discovered Islam and converted. So they had huge source of jihad fighters. No Mather how many battles they've lost they would recruit new army imedietly.Exhausted enemies would retreat and give up the land.Thats how Macedonian Visant turned in to OttoMan Empire.Otto meaning East, Man short for Great Mother or Mother Holy.By the way MaceDona means Mother Divine, same with MaTea - Mother Saint .

First of all the real Macedonia is in Greece, The real name of this place is Vardaska, but even if we accept with todays terms, it should be called North Makedonia. Something not mentioned.
