I’m 60 years old and like you, I’m ol skool. I have limited mobility from a stroke, and I use my good hand to carefully and gently pull my short hair up. Thank you very much for your video. Instructions were concise and easy to understand.
I really enjoyed your tutorial. Your finished look was very impressive. If you hadn't mentioned your age, I would have placed you in your early 30's. You look GREAT! 😍
This turned out so cool, just learned what this is called though I have seen this look before. Its pretty fitting and I may try this on a client. Keep up the good work! Like the voice over and your commentary. Glad I found you😊
@@tinfoilhatter I use to wear the kid and play look , however, everyone (guys in my area) was too. So I took mine to the next level. I just saw this comment after two months done passed. I don't take long to reply but glad I saw it. Better late than never I guess. Thanks for saying something to me.
@@onnislee1 cool, haha, that's great: yeah i'm still findin' comments all over the place, from years ago, that needed replies, but it seems we're workin' with a slight delay sometimes, haha
Awesome video! I recently did a "big chop", thought of this hairstyle and looked up videos. This is an excellent tutorial, one of the best I've seen, and ill definitely give this a try. Love your energy. Abundant Blessings to you✨️
I thought I did a great job explaining to the best of my knowledge, however after I watched it I felt I could have done better but you said it was one of the best so I feel great after seeing your comment. You'll do fine it's so easy.
Yes! I mean that too. You were very clear with the instructions, straight to the point, you explained why/why not you use certain methods and products. I can tell teaching is a gift thats natural to you. After watching this video, I actually came across the one you made for this style on kinky hair, and I'm natural and kinky, so it answered the question that was already on my mind about how it would turn out on my textured hair. Good to know the style is versatile. So yes! You have a natural ability for teaching and you're authentic, we need more of that in this media space, so please, make more videos! I was also checking out your books and will be purchasing. Also, your masks are super dope, is there a place to purchase those?
@@natashajohnson2258 actually you know the books are on Amazon but the mask I made for myself due to me being a fashionista. I like standing out, so I design my own clothing. Remember this that the natural pineapple waves don't last as long as a process wave. Process last at least 3 to 4 weeks and natural last a week or two.
I recently cut my hair short and I love wearing Bantu knots. I never heard of this hairstyle. I will most definitely be trying this very soon. My name is Oni.
Nice to meet you. There's other unique ways I do my short hair and thinking about doing another look that takes less than 5 minutes to style and 15 minutes to dry with a blow dryer but I wrap my head and sleep dry it and its a better look. Look out for that video coming soon.
My sister says the same thing. People who have tried it tells me it was pretty easy and it probably is because if their hair is black they use a pink net so they can see their hair clearly. And that's important for a first timer, make sure the net is not the color of your hair.
Yes you can do it with long hair. I would use foam or setting lotion and would scrunch it and lift it up in the top and have the back hanging down. There are so many styles with long hair that could be done and I wish I would have put the pictures inside the video. I'm thinking about doing another pineapple wave video with my natural hair and I probably would add the pictures in that video.
Hi Onnis. My hair is curly on top and straight on the sides and back. I am of mixed heritage. How can I relax the curl on top so it looks the same as the sidesand back? I am so glad you told your age. I am 65.
Is your hair soft curly on top like mixed people or Puerto Rican hair or is it hard curly on top as in afro nappy? You want the hair to be soft and/or straight so that when you put the styling gel on it, it would lay down so that when you lift and form the curl, you would get a better result. If the hair is afro hard; after shampooing the hair you would leave the condition on for about 10 minutes and get the hair soft. Then when you rinse it out, immediately start the pineapple way process by slicking it down with the gel. Make sure the gel is the black gel and not the pink, yellow or clear gel because it doesn't hold the hair together as well as the black gel. I'm thinking about doing another video soon with my afro hair without any process in it to see what the results would look like. I have nappy afro hair, however I put a comb through process in it to soften it up for the video that I did. If you have anymore questions just let me know and I'll be glad to assist you.
At a beauty supply store. Just ask for a triangle net. And if you can't find them at Sally's Beauty Supply store then try the beauty supply stores where the Indians work such as bargain buys, white diamonds, etc.

Thanks . Im gonna try this on my daughter
You'll do a great job, it's that easy.
You can use a regular net I turned out really well it don't matter
Yes you can. I use any net but for beginners I suggest using the triangle net for the best results.
Love this! I’ve seen it but never knew what it was called. Can this really be done on long hair? I might try it🤔

Do I need to first relax before gel
For a better and longer lasting look yes. If you don't want straight hair then put a comb through on it.

Where do you buy hair net from
Chinese hair stores, Sally's, beauty supply stores, and such like places.
Where u get the hair net
Go to any hair supply store and maybe even sallys. Don't think the dollar stores or maybe you can I'll have to check.
The part has to be clean
For a clean part, don't pull up a row of waves close to the part, that makes the part visible otherwise, you won't see it.
Where did you find the net
At a beauty supply store. Just ask for a triangle net. And if you can't find them at Sally's Beauty Supply store then try the beauty supply stores where the Indians work such as bargain buys, white diamonds, etc.
