Man wanted for attacking woman on Kelly Drive after asking for lighter: Police

- Philadelphia police said a 29-year-old woman was approached by a man at Kelly Drive and Fountain Green Drive around 5:15 p.m.
Detectives said the man asked for a lighter and then hit her in the face with a piece of wood.
They said the suspect ran away from the scene, and the woman was treated at the hospital.

I’m a friend of the victim and although it wasn’t said here the man is white, shaggy/messy dark hair, a beard, and medium build. He also looked homeless but my friend isn’t sure, he could just be dirty and crazy. I have no clue why they didn’t include it in the video.
Stop “feeling safe.” The world is full of evil. Be vigilant, walk with purpose, and don’t make eye contact with anyone.
Sad to hear but true. You want to keep your eyes open and see danger coming before it happens, but you also don't want to look crazy in the eyes and become a target
I definitely agree with you but in this situation I’m not sure there was anything my friend could have done. She was just sitting on a park bench reading a book because the weather was nice. When the dude came up and suddenly whacked her out of nowhere. They don’t say this in the video either but the board had a nail in it too and it’s what pierced her lip.
I agree, stay vigilant and be careful, but it’s crazy that you can’t even read a book in the park anymore without being worried this might happen to you 😭it’s not even like it was a bad area and it was broad daylight surrounded by people and even children. I guess all of Philly is just dangerous now.

She was just sitting on a bench reading a book when the dude hit her in the face with a board that has a NAIL in it. He didn’t even give her time to fully answer the lighter question, so he could have been angry that she didn’t have one or it could have been a trick to get her to look up from her book. She’s lucky the nail went through her upper lip and not her eye. He could have blinded her!! I really hope they find this guy.
Sure would be easier to find him with a description!! Oh wait.🤔.
And of course they are getting bolder, nothing happens to them even if they are caught!!

What he did there….sounds as though you could find Gangsta Rap song lyrics in there somewhere. Violent action always seems to be the underlying tone. And if she hit him back, she’d be arrested.
