Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. Haven’t filmed at Grantham railway station on the East Coast Mainline for over a year, so I thought best head down there to capture some high-speed action and there was a lot of interesting traffic within 80 minutes despite the poor weather. Intercity expresses, two freights and three IEP units (one testing running between York and Peterborough, another between Doncaster Carr IEP & London King’s Cross and the third heading down to Eastleigh Trsmd).
Trains include: LNER HSTs & 225 sets with DB Cargo 90029 on hire, Grand Central & Hull Trains 180’s, East Midlands Trains 153’s, 156 & 158’s GBRF 66708, Colas Rail 70802 and Hitachi IEP 800’s & 802201

Nice I saw a class 800 GWR a few months ago and got it on footage at night+I see Grantham as my local stations and see a lot of the in liveried IEP trains

What was happening with the green Azuma? Is it a GWR unit on loan or something?
It was a GWR unit heading south to Eastleigh.
Why do some of the IEP have yellow ends and some don't. I do like those 180`s
kiwitrains The rules were changed before the Transpennine and Hull Trains Class 802 liveries were finalised.

14:44one train says LNER one says virgin that’s odd or aren’t all trains lner yet?
All trains are now LNER but this video was filmed when the transfer was taking place, LNER could not repaint all the trains in 1 go so that is why some were still in virgin livery when the video was shot
Is the 800 on a test run? Or in service
no still in test mode on this line.hence no livery on this train but the new LNER livery is smart...i think it is anyhow
Thats a lot for just 80 minutes. I remember Grantham pre electrification and the first 225s. Not much else has changed since then though... except the up and down sidings getting more use than they did in the early 80's

The class 800s are flimsy and cheap looking. There is nothing like a nice solid 225. We should be building an Inter City 175 and an Inter City 275 in Great Britain.
