More like the greatness of human kind itself. Just think of all the engineering and sophisticated technology required to even put things like this together in the first place. I'm waiting for another Voyager type mission, the one that had a golden record containing the sounds of earth. Truely remarkable, I still wonder sometimes if that space craft will one day reach intelligent life, or if it will all be lost and collide with an asteroid or be destroyed by the heat of entering an atmosphere if it got lucky enough to reach a planet.

This video shows the reason I love Bethesda games, there's just so much to find an explore with dynamic gameplay. People these days want everything handed to you, like Sony does. (Watch a cutscene, fight some enemies, then watch another cutscene). I love making my own story or just doing missions my way. So many people just keep wanting Starfield to be focused on one big central story with no bugs, that's not the point.

I started getting into RPGs when Mass Effect/Dragon Age came out. I remember when I heard about Skyrim I was curious. When it came out I watched my buddy playing it and the amount of content and map size was a bit much for me at the time. Never played it. I’m an RPG/open world veteran now so I bought the recent release of it and gave it a shot a few months ago. Put in a 240 hour run. All the DLC and creation club. My verdict? Even 11 years after it’s release it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played. The music. The stories and lore. The options to build your character. The action. It’s a masterpiece. Totally worthy of all the praise it gets and then some.

About the step-up thing. I like the one in Skyrim and it never felt too streamlined to me. In Oblivion I felt disoriented even though there's a compass, and didn't know where to go first after exiting the sewer. I'm all about open world freedom but sometimes being left in an open field is almost too much. With that said, true step-out for me in Skyrim was after leaving Riverwood and seeing Whiterun in the vast open tundra. This is when I felt gamer's high and start running like crazy lol.

I still enjoy most Ubisoft-style open worlds, but I know that once I've been to every question mark on the map, there just isn't much else to find or a reason to start a new game. I bought Skyrim for my son when it came out, and again when he upgraded consoles, and again when he got into computer gaming and again and again lmao. Took a few copies before my curiosity got the best of me. My son is now 20 and I will forever cherish the bonding that came from the love of Skyrim

I love the Thieves Guild and its influence it has on the world when you don't money cheat. I mean: being able to steal in all cities and sell all your loot to fences and talk your way out of problems with guards is just beautiful roleplaying for me.

I think a complaint I have is there is a literal war going on but you never really see that play out unless you are directly doing a quest. I love the mod that fixes that, but if you use mods you lose achievements

I had just started a Skyrim replay a day ago before I saw this. Almost every year around winter time I'll do a Skyrim replay. Long rpgs always feel right when it starts to get cold and snowy, especially Skyrim.
I was really chomping at the bit for starfield this year so I'm hoping we wont have to wait too long for it. Let a run of Skyrim and maybe fallout 4 after that fill the void.

I think Matty makes a good point about Skyrim’s step-out moment. The view is pretty nice, but the way it guides you to progress the opening questline right away ruins the pacing. You want the player to stand there and soak it in for a moment, but I usually just immediately start following Hadvar to Riverwood.

it's crazy how often this game has been patched and re released and they haven't fixed a single bug in the 10 straight years they've had and thats the frustrating part. they have the team to port it and make all these new versions so you'd think they'd have a team to patch the well known issues that have been there since day 1
