You may be wondering, why does it cut strangely at 2:22. Reason is because there previously was a cinematic intro here. For the music I used the original soundtrack first which got claimed and stupidly replaced it with a cover made by Colm McGuinness (you can find here: ruclips.net/video/QpM7TBr-feo/видео.html) to circumvent copyright thinking it counted as fair use. Of course it doesn't and Colm, rightly, copyright claimed the video. I decided years later simply to trim the intro out because it was a silly move on my part that I made out of total ignorance.

Since I got Skyrim on Switch years ago, I’ve played a ton of vanilla Skyrim. I love modding, so I was a little skeptical of vanilla Skyrim after the completely overhauled game I’d been playing previously. I was surprised, then, when I discovered a newfound appreciation for the base game and sunk another few hundred hours into it. I’ve been playing Skyrim since I was a sophomore in highschool, and it feels like this sacred space to me now. It’s like the game grew alongside me. The game is different now than it was when I was a teenager playing for the first time, like a reflection of my growth and change. The more I put in, the more I get out. I consider it a masterpiece, but at the same time I wonder if I don’t have some form of Stockholm syndrome after all the valid criticisms levied at it since its release.

I made an essay in High School explaining exactly why in four core reasons - Skyrim, or the Elder Scrolls in general is so popular that it is today. Its has such an impact and cultural phenomenon in our community. Theres many different fantasy universes that exists, and while their all reputable in their own respect. The Elder Scrolls has something none of them have unfortunately. Which is 1. Relatability 2. Familiarity 3. Historical Importance - And 4. Creativity. There is no Fantasy universe or RPG game that has all three of these staples that make The Elder Scrolls so interesting. Its why people of all ages can understand and get behind The Elder Scrolls (take Shirley Curry for example).
The world and universe of The Elder Scrolls can be familiarized with many different Greek, Roman and other mythologies and cultures into one grand spectacle. Different races and factions worshiping different gods, magic and technological advancements like the crossbow. Seeing the types of armors people wear and the groups that have different beliefs that relate with real life counterparts is what brings a sense of relatability in the Elder Scrolls. Nords being honorable Vikings, Imperials being civil like the Romans, Redguards like the Arabic nomads, Argonians having many Native American influences, and we can even get political to describe the High Elves as perhaps a rising Reich that perceives every race inferior compared to their own. And wants to dominate the world. The Dragonborn, is in itself a Hero's Journey which we all play a part of. We rise from nothing, to become something. Its inspiring and there are many stories similar to such a character like Gilgamesh and even Hercules. Where we are a warrior of legend to save the world, but we choose who want to be.
That is the creativity of The Elder Scrolls. And I will always cherish this franchise with all my heart. Even despite the toxicity Bethesda has been getting.

Imagine become an adventurer who go through many dangerous to get to the lonely mountain, make friends and companion along the journey, look at the beautiful scenery that make you feel so little when standing there. The desire to leave home and go on an adventure without knowing what's gonna happen is really great. The thing I want to be is that I can be nobody, I'm just myself instead of being dragonborn, a witcher, a hero, a chosen one,... Too bad in the singleplayer games you have to be someone or become someone like in KCD while in multiplayer games it just doesn't have that desire to discover though, all you do is farm items, materials, get skill points, level up, do quest... Online games has the potential of the world design while offline games has the story and interaction, combine this together we will get the best game

I think one of the most underrated aspects of Skyrim is actually the story, and the characters, which is all part of why the world feels so alive and was so ripe for memes.
To this day, people argue over whether Ulfric or the Empire is the correct choice. To this day, people want to send Nazeem to the cloud district. To this day, people despise Delphine and the Blades for making us choose them over goodest boi Paarthurnax. To this day, people choose Lydia as their first companion just for nostalgia’s sake. To this day, people feel cheated they can’t marry Serana.
It created a world rich with lore, rich with character (albeit scarce in voice actors) and rich with immersion that immediately made you feel at home there, as all the places you can visit and all the people you meet feel real and believable. Yeah, there aren’t many fleshed out, three dimensional characters but there don’t really need to be, you just need the player to believe this is somewhere they could spend a lifetime learning all about these people and their histories and personalities and I think the game accomplishes that very well. And even in the cases that previous games did better such as the believability of rising in the ranks of the Mage’s Guild or Dark Brotherhood which are laughably easy by comparison in Skyrim, I don’t think there are any major aspects of the game - in terms of writing and storytelling - that are actively bad or unenjoyable. Even if it’s objectively poor writing, I still get a kick out of being named Archmage after using a sword for the whole quest so that’s got to count for something, lol.

Being able to have a whole party of followers, and meeting certain ones organically during whatever quests, along the way towards my character's end goal, just makes it feel like a real traditional rpg akin to Final Fantasy or Legend of Dragoon.

As a Fallout Player considering getting back in to Skyrim, are enemy encounters scaled to match the number of people in your party? That is the issue in Fallout 4, you end up with an unstoppable army.

    • @Coreisus
      @Coreisus 3 года назад

@@aaroneudell4388 I've only got 3 party members(2followers) so far, and I'd say no.
I've played the majority of Skyrim's quests dozens of times, and I can guarantee there's the same amount of enemies in the same places.
Just easier to fight cuz there's 3 of us instead of 1.
I usually play on Adept and have been tempted to turn up to Expert or Master with all the followers I intend to get.
But as is, it's really satisfying seeing us tag team fools. Especially with the more finisher animations mod and the follower AI mod. Makes it so sometimes 2 of us are pulling a finisher on the same enemy at the same time and it just looks so cool. Wouldn't get that on Master with the health sponge enemy's. So I've kept the difficulty down for aesthetic.
Maybe increasing difficulty would scale combat realistically to a party of combatants, but I almost never turn up Bethesda games difficulties cuz its not actually any harder, just cheaper, and as such ruins the immersion.

      @untaterbang 3 года назад

      @@aaroneudell4388 Really? I don't remember that in FO4.
Skyrim uses what's called an Encounter Zone. Basically everything is scaled to your level, but they have min and max level.
Say you are level 5, and you goes into a dungeon with a min level of 10 and max level of 15, then the dungeon will set itself to a level nearest to your level, in this case is 10. I think FO4 uses the same/similar system.

A fun mod I recommend for anyone wanting to play throught the main quest again, but seems to have trouble seeing it through.
    A mod called "End Times"
It's a mod that puts a time limit on the main quest line, you can set it to whatever you want. if you dont defeat alduin in that time. The game will end with Alduin literally coming from the sky and meteors hitting the ground. The world literally comes to an end. Just like the prophecy.
its a fun mod that puts a some sort of urgency to the game. I had really fun with it.

I've been playing Skyrim for years and still am enchanted by the lore, the gameplay loop still is fun, the characters and world is still enjoyable. Skyrim is a nice place to spend some time and pick some pockets maybe kill a dragon at Riverwood when trying to go to the trader to sell all the stuff in your pockets.

Skyrim came out in a specific time, when specific culture was defined and shaped and not yet started rotting to the core. I remember these times.
Bethesda knew what they were doing when they released a raw borderline shitty game with a ton of instruments to modify it. So after finishing the game players will feel like they've completed a demo. And with proper mods, this game can create an experience and atmosphere no other game can. That's why i believe it's one of the games like warcraft3 or doom2 - an immortal game that our kids and grandkids will still play.

Rain World also does the immersion of the world is NOT revolving around you, the creatures truly ARE fighting among each other, the creatures have their own stories and pathing, all WITHOUT words, you’re living in this beautiful landscape and you’re a prey species, it truly makes you FEEL like YOU ARE THE CREATURE, It’s honestly how I feel about Skyrim too, both make you feel like YOU ARE NOT THE PERSON IN CONTROL, it’s beautiful in a way, it’s even more beautiful when you notice that sometimes in Skyrim you can get inheritance letters, pointing out you DO have family, despite you knowing your character doesn’t have such family members known, it’s a random event but it’s a beautiful one…

Skyrim is what it is because beyond the massive game with so much potential for world building & role playing, it's the sustained community effort that took it to the next level. The Skyrim community and work done by the fans themselves is unrivaled in the history of video games & this is from someone who didn't play Skyrim for the 1st time until like 9 years after original release lol.

I can't even begin to explain how much this game impacted me moving forward in life. I was 11 when skyrim released... I remember watching Tobuscus' parody trailer and therefor actually buying the game. My friend and i glitched our way to level 81 on my crappy ps3 back then, and i've since time and time again come back to this game.
I've come in and out of phases where i dove deep into lore and builds through different content creators and recently played the game again on pc for the first time with mods that blew me away because i was used to the ps3 version for 10 years...
Sincerely my favourite game of all time. It's amazing how relevant the game still is to this day.

Something that doesn't get talked about enough when it comes to Skyrims success is the fact that it has a 1st person view (even if it's dated). There are a plethora of cool ass open world games that have came out since Skyrim but I could never enjoy them simply bc they force 3rd person. And as much as I love Skyrim I don't think I would have ever even gotten it, let alone enjoyed it if it didn't have 1st person view.

Adds a shit load of new content for her and fleshes out her character even more. It's far from a perfect game but the life breathed into it by modders alongside it's sandbox nature definitely means it's just shy of immortal. My most favorite modded moment has to be finding a OP OP dragon ball z Elemental Wizard and panting him or Beating a Raid Boss that the mod literally gives you a follower to fight it with.
I went into a small burrow only to find this Elemental Archmage who kept chilling my ass at level 3, i got pigheaded so i used a mod called "Thief Tools" to sneak up to him and bonk him with a mace, Stunning him as I burnt him to Death to claim his Mask.
With the Raidboss, I was walking from Whiterun to Red Eagle Tower when a ghostly werewolf blitz my ass at level 5. I equipped a scroll that did x3 his magic and watch that raid boss melt into the ground.

My latest play through is an Old Nordic Hedge Knight named Ser Gerald Highland who is living in Bruma who was thrown out of service from his lord due to catching lycanthropy so he heads to Skyrim to learn how to cope with his new life as a Werewolf and spread as much good before his life fire runs out. Ya like?! Just one of many haha.
I went with the Alt Start Live Another Life mod (crossed boarder of Cyrodil into Falkreath) - to the Companions Questline (EFS Companion Quest Overhaul mod) to the Civil War Questline (Open Civil War and totes sided with Ulfric n’ da Boyz) then the Main Questline and FINALLY BACK to Bruma with the Beyond Skyrim Bruma quest mod.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I’m currently LOVING my character. He’s like a Ser Barriston Selmy from GoT only with the Beast Blood 🐺 🐾⚔️🛡

i think many people don´t give credit to the foundation vanilla skyrim provides.
If the base game wouldn´t be so great people wouldn´t bother to mod it so much and no matter how many mods you install, the game doen´t really change that much. It will look better but feel very similar.
