12:05 CDPR is working with Epic Games on Unreal Engine 5 and The Witcher 4. So Epic Games gives them the tools they needed. CDPR announced that partnership when they announced The Witcher 4 in 2022.
13:19 The Witcher 4 (Poland) and Cyberpunk 2 (NA) will share the same technology. They will not move The Witcher 4 devs to Cyberpunk 2. They will move to The Witcher 5. CDPR announced parallel development in 2022. NA studios (Vancouver and Boston) will work on Cyberpunk stuff. Poland studios will work on The Witcher and the new IP Hadar.

Not happy about the engine switch. CDPR became less independent and now has to (partly) rely on Epic. Then there are the engine licensing fees that reduce the revenue and may lead them to take less risks with their future games. UE also has some limits (rendering, handling of interactive objects) that make many games look and feel similar. Its bad when you recognize at first glance a game is made with UE or Unity. Yes maintaining your own modern in-house engine costs money but we need more diversity in game engines to have competition and push the envelope of what is possible.

Only a half hour into the upload and there are already tons of comments proudly spewing the most nonsensical takes of all time regarding the Witcher, a series these people apparently say is their favorite lmao.
News flash guys - the books are the original material from which the games work off from. And these books couldn’t be more steeped in leftist ideology/“woke moralism” that you are outspokenly against.
The series isn’t just about sex scenes with sorceresses, it as one big unit of stories, themes, characters, and plotlines was created to deconstruct the racism, classism, sexism, fascism, and general chaos Sapkowski’s region of Eastern Europe was experiencing following the fall of the Soviet Union.
He has gone on record to say that the human and nonhuman conflict was directly inspired by the Serbians committing genocide against the Bosnians. And through that he intentionally provides a primarily female-led story (Ciri takes up most of the novels by far) that simultaneously wishes to take down homophobia by making her a lesbian.
This series has never been “unwoke” or “untouched by DEI”, it was literally created with it in mind.

No... they do not work with Sweetbaby inc. Do not spread misinformation.
They hired a female writer who at one point explained/defended what SBI did on a technical level with every studio they consulted, via Twitter, in order to make it clear that ultimately SBI did not have absolute control over the content created by a studio (which imho is bs as their influence weighs heavy in extortion). But she was never an employee of SBI. She is however an activist who follows DEI and believes firmly that content should all contain inclusive stuff, lgbqt, etc..
She is currently one of the writers on the team. Not the sole head writer on the team.
Second of all, keep in mind Cyberpunk 2077 also had a team of lgbqt+ employees, one of which was the head art director of the game. All those ads you see in the game including the ones on the tv, were directed by that artist. We also had Claire, a trans character. No one said anything then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Lets not lose hope yet... It's many years away before we'll see any actual development/trailers for the sequel.

Cyberpunk had a NIGHTMARE launch/year one but CDPR eventually through patches and fixes made Cyberpunk the game it was supposed to be at launch. Hopefully they’ve learned from that and they take their time to work out all the kinks on Cyberpunk 2’s launch because that game DESERVES a smooth launch if it’s as good as 1 is rn.

For anyone excited about the next Witcher game, I wouldn't be. Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game of all time but any excitement for it whatsoever has literally died. All you have to do is think about the fact that absolutely none of the people that worked on The Witcher 3 still work at the studio anymore and then just a couple months ago they hired this lady that likes to push woke narratives in games to be the narrative director for one of their biggest new games. There's absolutely no way The Witcher 4 can be good, not with them making calls like that. I hate to say it The Witcher 4 is going to be full of identity politics and you will probably be able to pick your pronouns at the start of the game 😔🤬

Why the engine switch? I think it comes down to turnover & training. CDPR had a large turnover of employees during Cyberpunk2077, this caused the problem of having to train new people on Red Engine continually until they finished. With a switch to the Unreal they will have a much larger pool of people who are already skilled in it use, making training time much reduced. So instead of having to learn the quirks of the Red Engine, they now just need to learn the tools which CDPR created for Unreal. I believe this is the largest factor, otherwise they would have stuck with Red Engine for their future games because of how built out it is. With this CDPR will also greatly reduce the number of people dedicated to engine & will be able to shift those people to working on the tools they need. A lot of given and take, but I think in the end they figured the benefits of moving over in total outweighed keeping it all in house. We do not know exactly how the Epic deal was setup also, they could have some very favorable deal setup with the switch as well.

Awesome, I still never played Witcher 3 so i need to get on that. Cyberpunk i was looking forward to but had been burned with too many games previously and recently before release. That i knew bettter i waited to see reviews more gameplay. And was so glad that i did. This year i bought Cyberpunk 2077 with Phantom Liberty and Wow. Such a great game and im glad it slowly became something great that tons of people now enjoy. Obviously it would have been ideal to be good on launch. I will be skeptical with any of their games in the future however. I will definitely wait to see if the game turned out good before buying it.

Play TW3 on Death Note. Trust me, it will be worth it. Having a little challenge to the combat adds a lot to the game. The other game modes are too easy even for a relatively inexperienced gamer.
You’re in for a treat. TW3 is seen as one of the greatest games of all time for a good reason.
