    I really hope they'll add outside doors that aren't airlocks, for use on planets with a breathable atmosphere. It's kind of ridiculous now

    • @MillsBuilds

      Totally agree. Although this planets atmosphere actually isn’t safe, so the airlocks are needed here. But definitely need an option for normal doors for planets with a breathable atmosphere, there’s like 100+ models of different doors in the games too so it shouldn’t be hard to do.

      I am on PC, but still kinda getting used to it all. Switched to PC over the summer still have a lot to learn as far as modding goes. I’ve never dealt with the creation kit before but from what I’ve read and watched it seems to be as user friendly as modding gets, I’m hoping I’ll be able to turn my outposts and decorated player homes into mods like people did in F04 where they would come furnished & decorated. I used to love downloading mods for fallout 4 & Skyrim that would decorate certain buildings but downloading mods on Xbox was pretty streamlined.

    Sick outpost. Wouldn’t hurt to spawn in a couple NPCs to make your places feel more alive! Here’s a brief guide if anyone is interested.
    Here are some NPC IDs first of all, and yes they are all functional:
    Generic male colonist- 10DD9A
    Generic female colonist - 11F9B0
    Doctor- 0001291e
    Trader- 001a2c9d
    Ship technician- 0015CF3D
    Chunks employee- 001440d2
    (There are a ton more! To find them just tyoe “help (keyword) 4” into console and you’ll get a list of IDs! Avoid ones that start with ff)
    >to spawn them and have them wander around: “player.placeatme (NPC ID)”
    +to delete any npc- open the console, click on them (make sure it starts with “NPC-“ when you click, it can be finicky” and just type in “disable” and enter.
    >to spawn them and have them stay attached to a furniture object or workbench:
    -Open console
    -Click on the object and make sure it starts with “FURN” on the screen
    -type “pft (NPC ID)” and enter
    >to make them stay in one spot: open console, click on NPC (make sure pop up starts with “NPC-“ and type “setrestrained 1”
    >to change their animation style: open console, click on NPC and type caf (animflavor). To find a list of animflavors just enter “help animflavor 4”
    >to open their inventory and trade/equip items: open console, click on NPC, back up and turn away from them (you have to do this part idk why) and enter “openactorcontainer 1”
    >to teleport them to the exact player location: open console, click on NPC and type “moveto player”. This is super useful for placing restrained NPCs exactly where you want them such as putting a trader behind a desk!
    There are more commands but these are the main ones. If you want to make life easier- you can also take any console command you use and copy/paste it into a text file in the games root folder. Then, just open console and type “bat (filename” to run the command. You could also even attach those commands to a hot key. For example, you could press F1 to spawn a male colonist.
    Here’s some bonus ones-
    If you want an NPC to follow you, you can click on them in the console and enter this:
    Ssq 0000d773
    forcerefintoalias ActiveFollowers
    To remove your followers:
    emptyrefalias ActiveFollowers
    There are a ton of things you can do with console commands/ bats and hot keys.
    I’ve tested NPCs thoroughly and they are stable/ should not break your game or damage performance. Hope somebody finds this useful in making their outposts cooler!
    These commands also work for spawning NPCs on your ship!! And they will stay there persistently on the ship you spawn them on even after switching ships etc.
    Enjoy!

      Ooooh. Awesome. Thanks for all that info! That’s something I felt was missing as well and my outpost I’m working on now is more of a mining research station. So I wanted to have people in there working and stuff but sometimes having them walk all around they’ll knock over some of the clutter I placed lol. So having them be able to stay in one spot will be very helpful, if you check out my fallout sanctuary build you can see I had settlers assigned to specific spots and all that, makes it feel way more alive. Thanks again for the info!

    • @MillsBuilds
      @MillsBuilds  Год назад

      What specific items are you referring to? Somethjng that I didn’t realize until a week into playing was that in the settings you can change the rotation speed of outpost items which is a total game changer. Helps rotate the items precisely.

    • @lordbarklee
      @lordbarklee Год назад +1

      @@MillsBuilds Hi, it's about decorations and small (looted) objects like bottles and mugs for example. It only rotates along 1 axis. When i place it on a table and it falls over it is hard to get it up right again. It would be so much easier to rotate it along 3 axis.

    • @MillsBuilds
      @MillsBuilds  Год назад

      @@lordbarklee you can rotate it on any axis! Depending on what your using, for controller rotating is RT and LT where mouse is right click and left click. And then to change it’s axis click the left stick on controller or shift on keyboard and then rotate the item and it will rotate on a different axis. Another tip is when you drop the items on the ground go into your build mode and look at the items, you can then pick them up and place them with their physics disabled so when you bump into them they won’t go flying everywhere. Hope this helps!

      Due to the way procedural generation works you technically wouldn’t ever find this exact spot even if you dropped in the exact location. The plants and animals would all be the same, it would look the same but the terrain wouldn’t be identical. I’m sure you could find something very similar though. Try landing on an area that says swamp or swamp coast on the planet.

    • @MillsBuilds
      @MillsBuilds  Год назад +1

      I’m pretty sure it’s a glitch, a little hard to explain but you can test it yourself and see what I mean. Place a hab down, and then attach an airlock to it. The airlock should have a bright red light on inside but sometimes if you move the airlock it basically disables that red light and it’s almost pitch black in the air lock. Only way to fix it is to just delete the airlock and place it again. So basically I’d make sure your habs lighting is good before you start decorating it cause it could be glitched and you just need to delete it and replace it.

    Starfield is near perfect with plenty to keep people busy like skyrim for years to come in my opinion. They just really need to get building down pat, the prefab options are really kinda lame, and its not like their arent plenty of buildings in game that look sick they couldnt just add into the builder, the oceanside condos on the side of paridiso come to mind.

    • @MillsBuilds

    • @MillsBuilds
      @MillsBuilds  Год назад +1

      Yeah, everything either comes from my misc items or aid items. You just drop them from your inventory and then hold the take button so you can pick it up and your able to rotate the items with left and right trigger and then change its axis by clicking left stick. Or you can drop the items from your inventory, go into your build mode and pick them up that way which disable its physics.

      You have to go to the mannequins inventory, and then click equip on what you want to show up on the mannequin. It can be a little confusing though because it’s showing the apparel on your character but really it will show up on the mannequin.

      @@benwilson2099 nope you equip the armor in the mannequins inventory. I punched it so many times , it doesn't open😮😂 The Wall cabinets open if you hit them with a melee weapon 🔪, still can't figure out why the bookcaes don't work like display cases , or bookcases in Skyrim 😢 I want a library and, magazine stand 😢

    • @MillsBuilds
      @MillsBuilds  Год назад

      Unfortunately not. I swear it’s a glitch, because why would some of the cabinets even be able to open up if they didn’t want you to. You could open up cabinet doors and drawers in previous Bethesda titles. Also I’ve seen stuff inside of them at random locations in the game too, but yeah really shouldn’t be hard to make them work like display cases. For now I think the best bet is placing the big wooden shelf or grey shelf and placing each book individually between the shelves. If you watch my beach outpost video I have some books standing up in between the grey shelf at around 3:30 into the video.
