    In fact , for me the heaviest part of this mv is seeing him crawling, beeing pressed down by his own thoughts and feelings, trying so desperately escape, but it’s true that you cannot escape your own mind. There’s no shortcut. Not everything can be healed if healing means „not being hurt or scarred anymore“
    For me it’s about radical acceptance.
    I love this song and mv, I feel so seen and understood.

    RM and Suga both recommended a book named ALMOND, about a boy with a problem/malfunction in his amygdala. The boy's mother would feed him almonds in the hope of correcting his problem. It didn't work, just like it's not working for Yoongi in the MV.

    I feel that in one sense his brothers (the other members) help him a lot through all this process with their love, concern, personalities, that's why he loves them so much and says that his happiness, his entire world are his hyungs . It hurts so much to see how hard was his life, now I love and respect his even more, this video is amazing, his acting,melody, everything is perfect, a masterpiece absolutely! As always thank you so much for this reaction.💜💜💜

      He only has one "hyung" (Jin) since he's the second oldest in the group, but I know what you mean. The rest of the guys are his "dongsaengs" (not sure if spelled correctly, but term used for anyone younger than you and can be used for either male or female). His dongsaengs (younger bros) would be the rest of BTS. Jin is his only hyung out of BTS. Now if it's Jungkook, then all the guys are his hyungs since he's the youngest member. 😊

      I definitely agree, MIN YOONGI & SUGA now are seeing life through a different lens, it's really good to see him happier and mire at peace. I guess he's been dealing with his past & traumas really well and I'm sure his hyungs have been a huge part of that success and process. 🦋💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋

    This is actually a trilogy, starting with Daechwita, Haegeum, and lastly Amygdala. In each MV you notice he is playing both roles the antagonistic and protagonist. The role of the antagonist has the face scar. He's battling two sides of himself in essence. SUGA has been very open about his past struggles. Amygdala is the last piece on how/why is created two different personas per say. The Amygdala is the part of the brain that stores trauma, depression, anxiety. These are things that scar you. You can never get rid of of those memories, they will always be there. So it's accepting and coming to peace with it. It's a super deep song. Some have said or speculated that SUGA is letting go of AGUST D, the side of himself, hence the album is titled D-Day. I cried as I listened to this song. He kind of bares it all. Another Masterpiece. 💜 😭

    I cried. In fact - forget being an Army Mom. I bawled my arse off at this song but am not surprised. Suga has always been the most transparent about his past and the struggles he endured when he decided to ignore his parents' wishes and join a Boy Band in '13. Years ago - there was a quiz thrown out to Army. Question asked was: If you could have 24 hrs.....to spend with ONE member of BTS, who would it be and why? Will never forget the BTS reactioner being 'shocked' at the results. Suga came in 1st place. Hands down. I wasn't shocked. While Kookie is my bias (perhaps because he is the closest in age to my son) as the youngest...always rooted for and like a doting Mother, so proud of his achievements while watching him 'grow up'? Suga has always fascinated me, so without hesitation - would want to spend 24 hrs with him. Why? Because if you followed them from the beginning? He was the member who smiled the least. Was extremely controlled during their live performances and it wasn't just because of his shoulder pain back then. The DAY when it all changed? Was the 1st time his parents attended one of their concerts in Seoul. When he saw them..sitting quietly in the back and understood that after YEARS....HE HAD FINALLY WON THEIR RESPECT/APPROVAL? He fell to his knees and bowed so low - his head touched the stage, while he lost it. It was the only time - I ever saw him cry. Albeit quietly. Jimin was the only one who noticed and ran to give him solace with the biggest hug. Anyhoo...sorry for the rant. Watching Suga come out of his shell (over yrs)was a beautiful thing and why he wants BTS to continue performing (produce music) even when - in his words - "they're 'old n grey and have to sit on stools wile their younger dancers perform the moves BTS once did". May God grant me life to see such a time 🤣. Borahea 💜💜

    The amygdala is the part of the brain where trauma and reaction to bad experiences are stored. I think it’s called amygdala because it’s shaped like an almond ( amygdala is Greek for almonds). This is why he’s eating almonds in the MV. I think also the room symbolises his amygdala, that’s why he’s trying to escape from the trauma inside that room, but he can’t.

    To me as a retired therapist, its Youngi reaction to PTSD. Untreated PTSD means you still can react to past trauma as if it's still happening. Often unresolved = depression & anxiety. There is a therapy called EMDR that can help the brain, Amygdala, complete the process. Reduces PTSD. THX Jim.

      Would you say the brown clothed Yoongi was processing his past memories (depicted by grey Yoongi's journey) as he was watching & munching the almonds?

    • @AilinLoh
      @AilinLoh Год назад

      And is EMDR the therapy where one processes the choices (reactions / responses) to past traumas? Because he mentioned 1st choice, 2nd choice, and so on in the lyrics...

    • @mjan316
      @mjan316 Год назад

      @@AilinLoh HI Allin! Unsure what Suga meant by saying 1st choice, etc. EMDR is a therapy conducted over several sessions if necessary until you can remember the trauma without your body reacting like in PTSD. The brain complete processing to acceptance with no more physical & mental reactions.

    You noted the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 7:11. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.

    This is one of my favorite songs from Yoongi's album. Yoongi baring some of the trauma he's been through in the past. You realize your past experiences, traumatic or otherwise, will always be a part of you (you can't just open a door and let them out), but you have to learn to get past them (which is Not an easy thing to do) or maybe it's embrace that they are part of you and figure out how to move on despite them. Anyway, I loved the MV despite it being dark. My 2nd favorite on the album is Snooze.

  • @AJP.OT7

    I don't know the name of the book but there is a book about the Amygdala/almond that is RM's recommendation list of books to read, and I think him and Suga read it during In the Soop.
    I personally think the pills and knife is also referring to self-harm maybe thoughts of su*c*de just because of also parrels to his song called The Last. (of course, we don't know the exact things that he went through/thought but he does hit at it during the bleep part)
    Edit: I also wanted to add that on the D-day Documentary during In the Soop he was working on this song and Jimin comes in and sits with him for a little bit. Suga then lets him listen and explains to him kind of what it is about, and he said something along the lines that if you don't face your fears/trauma/trials etc. then you won't be able to heal and grow and/or get past them and/or heal.

    Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts...
    What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out.
    But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹
    thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best .🥲🥲🥲🥲 #agustd #dday #amygdala

    His accident was pre debut era, he didn't say anything until later and for the busy schedule he couldn't do surgery. He ended up having surgery by Nov 2020, so he spent 7 years in pain. The pills are not presented as he was an addict but a necessary option to perform as well as other treatments that were done to cope with the pain.

    The amygdala is an almond-shaped part of the brain that controls facial expressions such as happiness and sadness. It also plays an important role in understanding emotions and responding to them. There is a theory that the amygdala can unconsciously delete some memories. Suga asks his amygdala to save him from bad memories of the past, BTS has introduced a book by a Korean author of the same name

      He's showing us his traumas and why he needed/created AGUST D. SUGA's such a genius, I love his mind. The AMYGDALA is an almond shaped part of the brain that deals with emotions and stores traumas ... his room has no walls or ceilings is an ominous space ... inside his head. The scar represents the trauma we do to ourselves, when we can't overcome our traumas. Though he went back to save himself and couldn't open the door on the lighter side he AGUST D (inside the room) is that much closer to opening the door (to his mind) to be free and reunite with SUGA (outside). It's so, so, so brautiful.💜💜💜
