He exposes everything, including his part-time job, accident, attempted suicide, his parents' health status, his melancholy, anxiety, and difficulties. 😭😭😭😭😭😭.. I feel so bad for him since he had to endure so much. But now, Yoongi, I'm glad to see you happy and well. Our Yoongi is really brilliant.
The fact that he always has 6 other dancers with him makes it even sweeter 💜 And yes, the amygdala is responsible for that but is also for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli.
Yoongi, is a true mental health advocate. He‘s doing so much for people with all kind of mental health issues and neurodivergent people as well. I‘m so greatful. Representation matters. Knowing that he believes that those things are not meant to stay locked behind doors and walls means so much. Knowing that he wants people to see and bear with us, sharing this mv, this song, this album…it means everything 💜 thank you for your reaction and words as well
18:24 This is so real. I won't get too personal, but I've been diagnosed with depression for 5 years now and after a long while I just stopped trying to get better. I started to find comfort in my illness because it's so familiar to me now. I don't *want* to get better anymore. BTS really helps me cope with it though 💜
For me, Yoongi is reaching out to us, strangers. Letting us know that even tho he doesn’t know our name, he knows our struggle. The path seems clear but there’s so much between where we are and the “door”, it’s a fight to get there. He gives us strength and hope via him sharing his story. Talk, share, reach for help and be the help for someone else.
I just wanted to put this out there - I absolutely love you 💜 You are a joy to watch reacting to BTS. You are real and have a kind soul and big heart. I just discovered you a few days ago, but have been binging all of your BTS reactions and can’t wait to get into other groups soon. Thank you for being you. You are a lovely person. 💜
To blow your mind he is only the 5th best dancer in BTS. The dance line is Jhope (dance leader absolutely kills it), Jimin(unmatched fluidity in kpop with his contemporary background + martial arts flips), Jungkook (king of K-pop golden maeknae), V(Taehyung who is so damn fluid he’d be the most talked about in any other group but he’s got 3 other powerhouses). Suga was always a good dancer and intended to be the BBoy of the group but… the accident he shows in Amygdala is real before debut he got hurt and couldn’t bboy anymore and he suffered from 2013 till 2020 with an untreated shoulder injury. He didn’t even tell the members about it till he wrote a song talking about it in 2016 (The Last also heavily references the same topics). He had pretty bad chronic pain and the fandom realized he more frequently had times he appeared to be unable to move it at all performing. He used to get steroid shots but they stopped working. Finally in 2020 he took the time off to get surgery and he’s finally mostly better. And yeah he’s truly gone through it and he writes his truth and he shows such raw emotions. This video is so perfect but intense I’ve seen a few reactors say they can’t share because it affected them so deeply. It’s helping me realize how numb I’ve become to unprocessed trauma. I adore this complex man from his absolute badass krump moves and social commentary through his preaching mental health. I hope you are in an ok space now. Have a kind week. 💜💜💜
No, in BTS, SUGA is normally in the back of the bunch, and rarely in front when it comes to dancing. I'm so so glad people can now see what a great dancer he is. Honestly, he surprised a lot of Armys with this dance practice. Many of us did not expect him to move like that!
We could not tell you about Suga's dancing because this is the first time we saw him dance like this. The accident, referenced in the Amygdala video, kept him from reaching his full dance potential, before now. When he was free to pursue solo work, officially, he decided to up his game: singing, dancing, touring. Suga is a fierce competitor so it's safe to say he wanted to prove that he can hang with the dance line members. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. People have their biases, but the solo stage is all that counts. Suga is killing it and proving that rappers are a threat to anyone in the way. Suga, aka Agust D, throwing down!
Yoongi has been my bias since i discovered BTS in 2015. He saved me, his comfort his words. They all saved me, but especially him. From his music to livestreams he gives so much of himself away to offer comfort to everyone.
Every member of BTS is a top notch dancer. Some came out of the womb dancing (j-hope) and some had to work harder to find their rhythm (Jin & RM) but they all keep up seamlessly in group choreography with the very best in the group (j-hope. Jimin, Jungkook, V) so they are all at the top of the game globally. Yoongi did have an injury that prevented him from enjoying dance a lot and made him tired from medications and sleep issues for many years. Before his accident he used to do break dancing with j-hope. Now that he has had surgery on his shoulder he is able to really enjoy dancing again and this Haegeum choreography is the result.
Yoongi is a genius and so very brave and willingness to be vulnerable. This MV is so difficult to watch. The motor bike accident is from his past, and he nearly died. His shoulder was crushed and he ended up having surgery in 2020 but lost some range of motion. The rest... he's been open about his struggles with his mental health in a way that's very heroic especially in the context of kpop. I'm one of the people you were talking about, and I am very good at 'public face'. I'm stronger because of all the things I went through in the past, and I'm going to be stronger in the future because of what I'm going through now. I hope you're getting happier. About his dancing, even though he never wanted to do it, he's freaking GOOD. Check him out in "On Kinetic Manifesto. "
Thank you so much for expressing your thoughts about the importance of mental health and early prevention. I agree so much with you that it's important to make these things okay to talk about because it is still a semi-taboo topic. Also, thank you for looking up the word Amygdala! It's so important to the context of the song and it helps you to appreciate the song that much more! These are the types of reactions that I love to see the most because BTS lyrics are always so impactful and you are showing that you care about the artistry of music. 💜
Thank You💜 They really do know how to Put good messages in a Song and video. And Agust D Really knows how to be Vulnerable and I really appreciate him so much for that.
I think one of the lines that really struck me as a testament to Yoongi's lyrical prowess was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it one right after 'what didn't kill me only made me stronger' where he says 'And i begin to bloom like a lotus flower once again'. The thing about lotus flowers, for one, is they are super symbolic to a lot of cultures. They're a symbol of strength and resiliance, because they grow out of the mud and dirt of silty waters, but when they bloom their flower is pristine. In a way, it can be seen as symbolic of having been able to overcome dark times and harsh conditions, and arrive as something beautiful. But another aspect of the lotus flower thats not as well known as the symbolism, is that lotuses tend to bloom in cycles. They'll emerge from the water during the day to bloom, but then close back up and return back to the mud at night. I think that is even more specifically the part Yoongi wanted to get across about himself in this lyric, and why i think the last three lines are sort of a dialog both to himself and to the listener: 'So is all this countless suffering for my own good? What didnt kill me only made me stronger. And I begin to bloom like a lotus flower once again'. I interpret this as him trying to make sense of why so much trauma and pain happened to him by asking both himself and the listener if it was all necessary for him to become who he is. He then puts forth both that what he went through *did* in some ways make him stronger, but that it is also something that he will continue to struggle with; that there will be cycles in his life where he blooms, and also where he returns to the dark. Times when he is brought low by the shadows of those experiences, and times when he rises back above them into the light.
Suga has only recently discovered his love for dancing and begun to take private lessons. I mean, he’s always been decently skilled… bts choreo is so difficult that not just anyone can pull it off. But lately, he has improved spectacularly! In the past, he always grumbled about being required to dance and how much he hated it. I think we can assume now that with his crushed shoulder, it must have been so painful for him, and he just kept pushing through without telling anyone something was wrong. 😭 I’m betting he was probably very dependent on pain medication to get through… I wonder if that’s what all the pills in the video are referencing… something like opiate addiction? I haven’t seen yet whether he’s talked about it. Finally getting that shoulder surgery must have been so freeing. It’s sad that he missed out on so many years of what COULD have been something joyful, instead spending all that time in agony. I’m glad he’s finally enjoying it now, though. And you. Thank you for your heartfelt reaction, and for sharing your own stories. You are appreciated! 💜💜💜
Yoongi didn’t have to do this. Didn’t have to open his traumas to us. But I’d there is something ne thing I know for sure about this man is that if he can help one person with his suffering, he will sacrifice his comfort every time. Pat, I’m sorry for whatever traumas you have had to go through. I’m glad you are still with us. You might not think Kpop reaction videos are very important, but you are bringing us your own form of comfort. You are a friend we can experience the love of this art form together with. You are important. You are enough. Borahae, Pat.
The moment I saw this video, the part where he gets on the delivery scooter, I burst into tears. he made the video about his traumas. ARMYs know all of this and it's so much that he's had to deal with, and even then he became such a skilled admirable kind person. Yoongi is my bias because I relate the most to his messages about mental health and having to go through so much myself.
Hi Pat, to understand the second video, it's his pain from the past, he had depression, a secret part-time delivery job driving a motorbike to earn money which resulted in an accident (just as the video), with a crushed shoulder, and he couldn't tell anyone (even the members), for fear of being eliminated from BTS. Years of suffering in pain, he endured the best he could and finally told the members and Big Hit (Company Label). Which resulted to have his shoulder medically addressed and shoulder surgery was done in 2020. AMYGDALA pronunciation = A-MIG-DA-LA
The amygdala is a part of the brain that processes fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli. It plays a key role in supporting memory
Hi Pat I guess people don't really talk about Suga's dancing because he originally didn't want to dance he fought against it at first but eventually gave in and got better an better over time I'm shocked as well I've seem him dance really well with the group but this was a shock he is on another level here he really got good
@@justpat2316 he was a former b-boy. He stopped dancing because of a shoulder injury. That is why he did not want to dance. But he had surgery in 2020 finally so he can go back to dancing. He so bloody good. i am so proud of him.

Suga's my bias even tho I never was a fan of rap. I just instantly fell for his voice and his lyric is the most relatable and inspiring for me. He speaks the truth and he's not afraid of it. Amygdala hited me really hard (and so does many of his songs). Thank you for appreciating him, if you wanna check out more of his deep lyric I recommend you to watch The Last
I love all of the boys. I'm OT7 for sure, but Suga always manages to reach inside of me and pull out my story. They say the brightest smiles hide the deepest pain, but there's more to it. From an outside perspective, you could be strong, intelligent, and winning at life. What they don't know or see is that battle you fight every day inside your own head. It is true what they say you are your own worst enemy. I am 44 years young and it's only been lately that I've been able to move through my day to day in life. He's given me such strength and piece of mind with his music. I highly recommend you react to Snooze which features Woosung from The Rose it's definitely the needed and deserved follow up to this song. Thanks for the reaction and remember that you are amazing just the way you are!
so true. made us numb to things. we are strong. but the weakness is there. you might survive, but it leaves SCARS. 💕 i don't know your hurt, and i got my own, but the feeling is connected. thanks for saying.
This was an amazing video and song, so many emotions. He let us in and let us know we really not alone and these things happened to everyone. You have to keep going.
"mental crawling" - got chills from this. yup, exactly. I also feel it's very relatable that he couldn't open the door at the end. it's not a "happy end", it's still a process that can continue for quite a while. you gotta keep crawling and pushing this door. this whole MV is such a rough and raw metaphor about trauma, and I'm grateful to Yoongi for bringing such an art piece into the world. he continuosly talks about mental health issues (esp. in The Last), opening up and making a great contribution in mental health discource, which is so important especially in South Korea. thank you a lot Pat for opening up too and sharing your personal experience. it is very important to talk about such stuff, if possible.
@@justpat2316 And it means a lot to a lot of people! Your insights into mental health really made me wanna tear up because you were so on point! So thank you again. :)
He is my bias, and I am so so so proud of him for overcoming all the traumatic and bad things in his past, but also sad bc he had to remember all those things to write this song... He said in Suchwita that it was so hard to finish this song. I love him so so much, this album really made me melancholic and proud. He said he don't know is Agust D will comeback one day and that probably if he release something in future it will be as SUGA... I'm sad but it's so good to know that he is okay and happy now
Thank you..yes even with his shoulder injured he dance and is not appreciated enough ..Yes the lyrics is so truthful i being there as well..Yoongi said once you cant be completely free from depression ..I understand you because i being there i sent you a hug
Thank you Yoon-gi. I have been in this place. I have struggled and come out on the other side. This song touched a deep place in my heart, my soul, and brought me to tears. For those of us who suffer from mental health challenges. The struggle is real but the fight is worth it. There is a better life waiting for you. Don't give up and get help. The world needs what you have to offer.♓🐉💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
So many people are struggling through life. There's so much pain and trauma. We all need to learn how to hear each other's cries for help. Being each other's love and support should be our biggest priority. Yoongi always shows us how to cope with our pain and offers us words of wisdom that let us hope for a better tomorrow. Much love to you all 💜
@@justpat2316 ahhh you know when it was a real attack, when he first performed his solo Trivia: Seesaw and had a dance to it, which nobody ever expected him to do 😂lives were changed forever haha he never fails to amaze us and bring joy
D-Day (the album) really hit different. When I say Amygdala and Snooze really hit me very deeply, and helped me with my healing journey... that's the surface of it all. What you said about the line "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger", you're so right. For some, people can come out of it stronger in all ways, but for people like me, you do become numb. You do Learn as opposed to become strong. You may withdraw, even, as a means of avoidance. As someone with severe anxiety, PTSD and BPD from trauma, these songs mean a lot to me. He means a lot to me, as well.
I really admire Yoongi for this amazing song and video about this topic. Life they say is not for the faint hearted. Yoongi and the other members show us always that although they may be at the top and rich etc. that it’s the same for them as it is with us - we all go through our bad “stuff” - it’s how we deal with it that matters. He is showing us a healthy way to do that - admit it, share it, commiserate, ask for help, find the light… god bless us all 💜
when you say the word it's like, a mig da la. i is the part of the brain that controls memories and stores our fears, anxiety, trauma and negative thoughts and feelings. this was an artistic masterpiece, that was breathtaking. i love that yoongi opened up and gave us a momentary glimpse into the person yoongi, suga, agust d. i liked your reaction and commentaries, yes suga can dance, he is always in the background so we basically see jhope, jimin and jk. thank you for watching 'amygdala.💜
Some times a simple kind word or gesture can mean so much to someone because as you said you never know what that person might be going through, and your words/gestures might make a small or huges impact on them. As JHope said “It cost nothing to be kind”!!!!!!!!
I send you a hug and I hope that today you feel your mental and emotional health is more stable I cried with this video. Although Yoongi personifies in his videos Agust D who is angry, someone who suffers and who expresses his anger and pain many times in an arrogant way in his videos ... he is one of the sweetest men I have ever seen ... his love language is through acts of service and quality time... He is not verbally or physically expressive enough to show affection to others, he does it in his own way Although in this pre-entry stage for military service I have seen him happier and more open and communicative... it shows that he has catharsis and that he sees things from a more mature perspective, that experiences have given him But even so, my heart wrinkled when I saw this video... and it's definitely my favorite song on the album, although it has several songs that are a gem. We don't want the beings we appreciate to suffer, and that's why it hurts me to see what Yoongi has suffered... but all this has also made him appreciate what is truly important in life, it has made him a more empathetic person and with a great human quality and that is what old souls achieve, they become alchemists of their own pain and transform it... it comforts me to know that he has relied on his brothers from BTS and their music to deal with his emotional issues and that he knows he has our love and support... all this has given him the strength to get ahead I greet you from Mexico and I hope that in your life you will soon find yourself in a place of balance and resilience
I never said that people said he was a weak dancer. I said that I don’t hear people talk about his dancing that much. I also said it could be because I’m new to BTS. Just Clarifying. I Still Appreciate Ya💜
@@justpat2316 Hey, Pat, I'm sorry if you thought it was against you. It wasn't and I love your reactions, you're one of the few genuine ones on yt! Yoongi is not very known for "being good at dancing" but this proved he is actually a very good dancer, like all seven of BTS💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I apologize again if you misunderstood my comment.
@@justpat2316 He wasn't accusing you, my friend.. He was mentioning a general opinion that people have.. And, when you said "Why doesn't people talk about his dancing", you were right.. Yoongi focuses more on raps, lyrics, and production and compared to the BTS dance line, he's "considered" a relatively weak performer.. But he was always a great dancer too.. That'e what OP meant here.. He wasn't questioning you.. Anyways, great reaction as always! 💜💜💜
just sad that people keep forgetting that he used to be a B-BOY(BREAKDANCER) before being involved in that car accident. the fact that he performed those hard dance choreos very well while having an injured shoulder only proof that he's indeed Legend in dancing. (talking abt those years before he underwent surgery for his torn shoulder)
Alot of people miss the meaning of the last scene. When Yoongi is running to the door and try to open it from the outside and cant open the door and his inner self is crawling to the door trying to Open it. The lyrics are lets go through the memories and erase them ... but the door can't be opened because we can not erase our traumatic memories they are stored in our amygdala. We have to learn how to live with them. This video also shows how/why he created AgustD. Having that outlet allowed him to get out his feelings instead of him self harming or the other s word... it is an amazing video. A piece of ART!
That video is the most heartbreaking one I've ever seen, and I have to actively stop myself from crying if I watch it. For the dance practice, what's hilarious is that he joined BTS because he was promised he wouldn't have to dance.
thank you for sharing your own experience with the subject matter. when people like AGUST D & you open up about these topics, you’re helping someone find a way out of a dark place 💜
I'm so glad you're still with us! Thank you for sharing some of your story. Yoongi has been through it and this song tells some of it, but I'm not sure all of it. It's not like you can turn your traumas off, they are always with you , but when you choose to deal with them and take control, that's when you start to heal. Keep up the good work❗️☮️💜
Wishing you good days and quiet Amygdala. Enjoying your reactions. Yoongi is a treasure I hope he has a blast on his tour. The first time I saw a video with him smiling it was like the clouds had parted and the sun came out. Borahae. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience. I have a loved one who has been there and continues the battle. While everyone’s pain is different, Suga has helped so many by telling his story. I find encouragement from his words as I support my loved one. By now you have probably heard his earlier works but along these lines, I would recommend “140503” as well as “The Last” from his first mixtape. It will give you insight to his journey. (All three of his works are now albums and are on streaming platforms now.) Thank you again for your sincerity and sharing a part of your story.
When SUGA tried to commit suicide it was Jin the oldest BTS members that stopped him, thank God for Jin being there because we wouldn’t have this great genius to be here to sure his struggles with Army . I, myself have had thoughts of suicide and luckily I had people in my life that saw I was struggling. They got me some help and it just so happen to be the time in my life that I find BTS. Thank you Pat for sharing your story with Army. We can all stay strong together. Love you!
Of course Suga can dance, he’s BTS! With BTS he is usually in the back since he is not one of the best, but he always keeps up with the rest. He has been taking dance lessons to up his game The Haegeum choreo must be for the concert. I think the dancers are the ones that played his gang in the video. They are a sturdy bunch for sure. 😉
(if youdidn'tunderstand I'llexplain that all the things happened in the MV was true ) Because of this accident, he suffered a shoulder tear, so he had a shoulder operation.... Before his debut in the group, he used to work as a delivery guy.. was in a car accident, his shoulder was hurt a lot, and he wanted to perform a song concert (on & black swan) What made his shoulder condition worse because of the dance of the song, so he had to be absent from the group for 3 months and it was very difficult for him and us as ARMYs, now he has minor symptoms of pain because of his shoulder but less than before...so he is talking about himself before and about his suffering and the illness of his mother and father, oh, how sad, I am really proud of Yoongi, because he shares the nation with us, he is really a genius.😢❤ Another addition that amygdala It represents this black room in which he is sitting... That is, he cannot go back to the past to "SAVE" himself from that incident.. And the person in the past cannot bring out the person in the present... I hope I have said the matter properly.
Pat thank you for this ❤ I knew suga had rough time & expressed through his music, he's really an amazing man ❤ I never knew by your reactions what you been through, its easy to put on a front but to suffer silently must be hard, sending you big hugs your special in so many ways just like suga ❤❤❤❤
New Orleans the year before hurricane Katrina. I was on vacation with my Mom. I was sitting on the balcony of our hotel watching the sunset and I just broke down in tears for no reason. I went on for about another month. One morning I woke up and realized that if I had not woke up that morning I would have been ok with it. I never wanted to actively hurt myself but I knew I was in trouble. I came to the realization that I had been struggling with depression for years and it had come to the point that I could not keep it hidden any more. I got help. I have been living a good life since then. My parents were there to love and support me. Even after they passed (Dad 14 years ago, Mom this past January) I have been able to stay strong because of them. My Brother and I support each other and life good.♓🐉💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Suga exposing all his downs like his s*icidal, his shoulder accident, his depression.. And his familyh problem in the past😢.. Hes crawling to get into that door so hard and the other him was helping him to get him out there but its so hard... Im crying right now😭
Being numb is not being strong. That's being wounded and building walls and boxes to hold the wounds. Having the courage to be vulnerable, to express real feelings and stand in the storm as Yoongi does, that is being strong. What I always say is: "What doesn't kill you leaves you wounded." Because the things we go through cause wounds and those wounds make us weaker and give us a very hard time. Many people are carrying around wounds that cause them pain and cause them to hurt themselves and others. But the second half of that is: "What doesn't kill you leaves you wounded.....It's Healing that makes you stronger." Healing is the hard part. Healing is the life's work. It's the hard work Yoongi has done right in front of us all these years with songs like these. Many people never do the healing and they just stay wounded all their lives and wound other people in the process, because the healing takes a lot of labor, and courage. It's not the wounding that makes you stronger. It's the healing after the wounding.
When you see one version of yoongi sitting there he’s eating almonds. The amygdala is the shape and size of an almond so it signifies he’s trying to destroy the emotions that are holding him hostage to his painful past!
Suga says he still has his issues. He still has OCD. ADHD, SOCIAL ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION. He says he’s doing better but every once and awhile it resurfaces badly to the point his own members worry for him and reach out to him. So mental illness never really goes away. You need a good support system, therapy and medication if needed. I believe his crawling but never actually reaching the door signifies the difficulty of trying to get out of that head space and not being able too. At least that’s what I got out of it. I have 2 daughters who suffer mental illness daily and as a parent who also suffers from PTSD it’s difficult to watch your child suffer and you can’t get rid of that inner turmoil they feel. It’s so hard. I seriously enjoy watching you.
He fukkin it up! Funny that what he joined BTS he said he didn't want to dance...they signed him then made him dance....not only that some of the hardest chores in Kpop! Go Suga!!!🎉❤ 💜
That continuing struggle. He doesn't show a grand heroic ending bc life doesn't work that way. It's a process and a cycle and all we can do is peel it back layer by layer and try to slowly heal those wounds. It's so powerful and he's so strong. Keep blooming like a lotus flower.
I bet you have not really see a dancer rap or better yet you have not seen a rapper dance. Yoongi is all of the above. Neway the dance studio is the official BTS dance studio exclusively for their use. It is almost the size of a basketball court. Suga is so underated as a dancer cause he is always at the back.
I am really enjoying your channel! I needed a mental health day today, and you have helped me chill out and smile. You have a very genuine energy and such a good ear for music! You nice. Keep going!💜
I know a lot of people struggle with this feelings and topics , I hope you can find solace in knowing that you are not alone, that getting through that dark period of time does make you stronger and that your life no matter how fucked up and chaotic sometimes it gets it's worth trying it's worth living
Please note the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 13:13. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.
Your look of wonder and disbelief at the end of Haegeum dance practice, was priceless!!!💜 Thank you for sharing of yourself! Stay strong, and may Peace be yours🙏
One last comment. Regarding the ending. I love this honest depiction. That the struggle is not only there but it is a constant thing. It’s not that we get some miracle cure, it’s that we continue fight.
I absolutely love that Suga did this song and especially this video. It absolutely kills me that countries around the world stigmatize mental health issues. If people truly understood how complex human creation is, they would be floored that more people don't have mental health issues. Just like people are born with or develop physical impairments, so are people born with or develop mental impairments depending on life experiences. I really appreciate that there is more exposure to mental/emotional health problems in today's media. But there still isn't enough, and not nearly enough resources are dedicated to improving/dealing with mental health. Thank you for your messages in this rxn video!
Your words are soooo good. Thanks for sharing and offering yourself beyond reacting to our boys. I have my own rocky path that I have walked and you are soooo right that we learn how to mask a lot. The "mental crawling" is an exact phrase.
Wow this is the first time I found your page. So many reactors to Kpop now and you seem very genuine. We are all on our own journey and I bet most of us have been through more than we tell others. It’s always wonderful when you can personally connect to a song or lyric.
My take on the almonds. 1. Amygdala in latin means almond, in greek it was ἀμυγδάλη (amugdálē), as these two clusters of nuclei in the brain have the shape and size of almonds they were named amygdala. 2. in the book Almond the boy's mother gives him almonds to eat because she thought it would help him develop his amygdala, finally letting him feel things. 3. The Last - Agust D, here Yoongi mentions that he went to a psychiatrist back when he was around 18, he assisted with his parents, the doctor in that track asks "have you ever been (censored)?" (we infer that he refers to being su!cidal, or if he has thought of hurting himself or others, bcs if you have any experience with mental health professionals this is one of the first things they ask you), he says "I answer without any hesitation that I have". Once you say these words to a psychiatrist, they usually prescribe you medication. So the pills that you see in the MV are a reference to that. Now, why use the pills and almonds interchangably? Because while the almonds in "Almond" were used to try and make the boy feel something, pills are usually used to regulate your emotions and make you feel less, but also, as amygdala means almond, we can also take it to mean that Yoongi is consuming "amygdala" after "amygdala" trying to try and fix his own which is hyperactive. The song destroyed me, but the MV completely shattered me. I've had a rough life, Yoongi is the one who I relate to the most because of it, he, in some way or another, always manages to heal a part of me with every album, song he makes.
Thank you Pat for your honest and touching review. This one really did hit hard. Poor, poor Yoongi, he's been through so so much, as have most of our 7 guys ...on a lighter note, I know you are going through each member before you get to group songs/ activities, but I can not wait for your reactions to their billion + viewed MV's..they also have lyric videos, MV, lives and dance practice and "making of/behind the scenes" videos for most of their songs. Then there are the TV shows and vacation s and concerts....Pat, I'm gonna enjoy watching you watching my BANGTAN 7 💜 Borahae 💜
amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes. The amygdala is located in the medial temporal lobe, just anterior to (in front of) the hippocampus.Mar 21, 2023
Yoongi's truly been through so much, and every time he shares something like this, it breaks my heart to hear about his pain, but it's so humbling and comforting to be trusted with his art and his stories like this, even if they hurt. I'm not sure if you already knew about this, but I believe the line "my accident that I couldn't even mention" is referring to the car crash he depicted in the first half of the video, because he was struggling to pay for college during their trainee days, but wasn't allowed by contract to have another job, so when he got injured while working as a delivery boy in an effort to pay for everything, he didn't tell anyone out of fear that he would lose his spot and lose his chance at his dream. Even still though, you're right that that line also points out that there are so many things he can't and won't share, things that we will never know about him and what he's been through. However, he's still shared so much, in Amygdala, Dear My Friend, The Last, and so many more songs throughout the years, and again, it's truly humbling to be trusted with his vulnerability. He's made so many people in this world feel understood and seen, and I'm honored that he choose to use the pain he's felt to give comfort to others.
The vid and song are simply stunning. Thank you Pat for sharing with us. You didn't have to. I appreciate it very much. My son struggles with depression/anxiety and he takes on others' emotions also like you do. It means a lot to see other men be open about it.
okay, I saw that no one who reacted to this mentioned it. Still, I feel like the line "what didn't kill me made me stronger" is also referring to the fact that with all the trauma he experienced, it did not kill him but his depression and anxiety got stronger as he fell more into a hole. I also believe in the same line where he states "I begin to bloom like a lotus flower once again" can signify that his depressive state went into a low again as he experienced another traumatic event.
I really suggest reacting to a fancam of a live performance of this song. He’s going on tour and just performed it live twice. Both performances were really powerful but the first day was really something else. Like it took a lot out of him to sing this and you can really tell in all performances how deeply the song affects him (I’ll gladly send a link to a good fancam of the performance if you want also😊💜)
I watched Amygdala right at release and it didnt have a warning than. It triggered me so hard i uncontrollably cried for an hour. I am glad they put the warning. I still have trouble watching the video. But I wanted to see your reaction. I am kinda late but I skipped it when you first uploaded it because of it
He exposes everything, including his part-time job, accident, attempted suicide, his parents' health status, his melancholy, anxiety, and difficulties. 😭😭😭😭😭😭.. I feel so bad for him since he had to endure so much. But now, Yoongi, I'm glad to see you happy and well. Our Yoongi is really brilliant.
It really takes a strong person to be so open about all that.
The fact that he always has 6 other dancers with him makes it even sweeter 💜
And yes, the amygdala is responsible for that but is also for processing fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli.
Yeah, BTS is just So Full of So much Talent. And thank you for clarifying the meaning of Amygdala
Yoongi, is a true mental health advocate. He‘s doing so much for people with all kind of mental health issues and neurodivergent people as well. I‘m so greatful. Representation matters. Knowing that he believes that those things are not meant to stay locked behind doors and walls means so much. Knowing that he wants people to see and bear with us,
sharing this mv, this song, this album…it means everything 💜 thank you for your reaction and words as well
18:24 This is so real.
Wow, your comment is so special, thankyou.
Suga is certainly brave for openly sharing his vulnerable side.
Awww Thank You Tamara!😊💜 That was So Kind Of You
To blow your mind he is only the 5th best dancer in BTS.
“What didnt kill me only made me stronger…”
…but at what cost? ❤️🩹 Hwaiting.
The things you had to deal with in your personal life, I pray for your well- being ❤. We all need a friend like you😊
Aww thank You💜 that means so much to me. I Pray for you as well. No matter if we are happy or sad, Prayer always makes it better. 😊
@@justpat2316 thank you❤💯
Yoongi has been my bias since i discovered BTS in 2015.

I always cried
2:57 "He dances like a rapper" ---- YYYEEEESSSSSSSS!!!! 💜
He dances like he from these streets🔥
Exactly!!! So much Sauce

The amygdala is a part of the brain that processes fearful and threatening stimuli, including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli. It plays a key role in supporting memory
Yoongi is tearing all of us up with this song. Also, you’re not ready for BTS all together. 🤪🥰 Can’t wait until you react to them as a group. 💜
This is why suga is my bias. He always makes it feel like its happening to you.
Every time I hear Haegeum, I do this choreo… especially the move like he is shoving something down like the MV of putting him down in the water.
Hi Pat I guess people don't really talk about Suga's dancing because he originally didn't want to dance he fought against it at first but eventually gave in and got better an better over time I'm shocked as well I've seem him dance really well with the group but this was a shock he is on another level here he really got good
Yeah, He Looks so Natural at it too. The man is just an Ace
@@justpat2316 he was a former b-boy. He stopped dancing because of a shoulder injury. That is why he did not want to dance. But he had surgery in 2020 finally so he can go back to dancing. He so bloody good. i am so proud of him.

I appreciate the sensitive way you handled this subject matter. Great reaction!
Thank You💜 Topics like this mean so much to me.
Thank You😊 These things are so important.
This was an amazing video and song, so many emotions. He let us in and let us know we really not alone and these things happened to everyone. You have to keep going.
Yes, that is the main thing. Just Keep Going no matter what. It’ll be worth it
"mental crawling" - got chills from this. yup, exactly.
Pat keep opening that door because you let the light in for the rest of us as Suga has so well portrayed
Thank you for your personal insights.
You are a beautiful soul.
Look forward to the more positive/supportive tracks on the album.

All these boys are multi talented even in their sleep-I’m always awed but never suprised
Thank you for sharing...it gives the 3 MVs a whole new bent.
The amount of Work That he has put in all of these MV’s is So Legendary. Such an amazing job

Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you to Suga for sharing his story. Borahae 💜
Some times a simple kind word or gesture can mean so much to someone because as you said you never know what that person might be going through, and your words/gestures might make a small or huges impact on them. As JHope said “It cost nothing to be kind”!!!!!!!!
I send you a hug and I hope that today you feel your mental and emotional health is more stable
I cried with this video. Although Yoongi personifies in his videos Agust D who is angry, someone who suffers and who expresses his anger and pain many times in an arrogant way in his videos ... he is one of the sweetest men I have ever seen ... his love language is through acts of service and quality time... He is not verbally or physically expressive enough to show affection to others, he does it in his own way
Although in this pre-entry stage for military service I have seen him happier and more open and communicative... it shows that he has catharsis and that he sees things from a more mature perspective, that experiences have given him
But even so, my heart wrinkled when I saw this video... and it's definitely my favorite song on the album, although it has several songs that are a gem. We don't want the beings we appreciate to suffer, and that's why it hurts me to see what Yoongi has suffered... but all this has also made him appreciate what is truly important in life, it has made him a more empathetic person and with a great human quality and that is what old souls achieve, they become alchemists of their own pain and transform it... it comforts me to know that he has relied on his brothers from BTS and their music to deal with his emotional issues and that he knows he has our love and support... all this has given him the strength to get ahead
I greet you from Mexico and I hope that in your life you will soon find yourself in a place of balance and resilience
People say "Yoongi is a weak dancer" WEAK? WHERE?
I never said that people said he was a weak dancer. I said that I don’t hear people talk about his dancing that much. I also said it could be because I’m new to BTS. Just Clarifying. I Still Appreciate Ya💜

I apologize again if you misunderstood my comment.
Anyways, great reaction as always!

just sad that people keep forgetting that he used to be a B-BOY(BREAKDANCER) before being involved in that car accident. the fact that he performed those hard dance choreos very well while having an injured shoulder only proof that he's indeed Legend in dancing.

Yoongi has been through it and this song tells some of it, but I'm not sure all of it. It's not like you can turn your traumas off, they are always with you , but when you choose to deal with them and take control, that's when you start to heal.

When SUGA tried to commit suicide it was Jin the oldest BTS members that stopped him, thank God for Jin being there because we wouldn’t have this great genius to be here to sure his struggles with Army . Thank you Pat for sharing your story with Army. We can all stay strong together. Love you!
Where do you have this info from. Don’t think yoongi has ever said something like that.
Of course Suga can dance, he’s BTS! With BTS he is usually in the back since he is not one of the best, but he always keeps up with the rest. He has been taking dance lessons to up his game The Haegeum choreo must be for the concert. I think the dancers are the ones that played his gang in the video. They are a
sturdy bunch for sure. 😉
(if youdidn'tunderstand I'llexplain that all the things happened in the MV was true )
Because of this accident, he suffered a shoulder tear, so he had a shoulder operation.... Before his debut in the group, he used to work as a delivery guy.. was in a car accident, his shoulder was hurt a lot, and he wanted to perform a song concert (on & black swan) What made his shoulder condition worse because of the dance of the song, so he had to be absent from the group for 3 months and it was very difficult for him and us as ARMYs, now he has minor symptoms of pain because of his shoulder but less than before...so he is talking about himself before and about his suffering and the illness of his mother and father, oh, how sad, I am really proud of Yoongi, because he shares the nation with us, he is really a genius.😢❤
Another addition that amygdala It represents this black room in which he is sitting...
All of BTS are good/excellent dancers. J-Hope, Jimin and Jungkook are the lead 3 dancers for different reasons but they are all good dancers.

Pat, thank you for your sensitive and genuine response and for sharing a bit of your own experiences.
But the second half of that is:
"What doesn't kill you leaves you wounded.....It's Healing that makes you stronger."
Healing is the hard part.
😭😭😭oh my .....your reaction...Ok🤗🤗🤗common.... love our self right know🤗
He fukkin it up!
Keep blooming like a lotus flower.
thank u for giving us a look Into your own struggles and being able to talk to us about it.
Αμύγδαλα is the greec for almond is greec αμυγδαλα❤
I bet you have not really see a dancer rap or better yet you have not seen a rapper dance. Yoongi is all of the above. Neway the dance studio is the official BTS dance studio exclusively for their use. It is almost the size of a basketball court. Suga is so underated as a dancer cause he is always at the back.
MY FAVORITE song from this album!!!
Bless you! Borahae 💜 🫰

Your look of wonder and disbelief at the end of Haegeum dance practice, was priceless!!!💜
Thank you for sharing of yourself!
Watching this made me realize that maybe I need to go back to the magic shop
Thanks for the reaction!
Omg I LIVE for ur BTS reactions😂❤❤❤❤❤
Then there are the TV shows and vacation s and concerts....Pat, I'm gonna enjoy watching you watching my BANGTAN 7

amygdala, (a-MIG-delah) region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes.
This is my favorite song on the album.
omg that was sooo cool haegum
I have to think it hits home for everyone in one way of another.
I am kinda late but I skipped it when you first uploaded it because of it
I feel like I'm reading yoongi's diary while watching this mv and listening to the song
