The fact that All this happened to him
Yoongi in the past in 2012 had a car accident while working as a delivery (just like the video) and broke his shoulder and made a surgery in 2020 because he was afraid to tell the company when he was a trainee to not kick him out and then didn’t want to do the surgery because of his group to not disrupt the group’s work he was afraid he didn’t even tell the members for some time+ when he was born his mam did a heart surgery + his dad had a cancer + he faced depression for so long and even thought about kîlling himself and went to a psychologist .. it was hard for him because his family was so poor he had to go to school, work and train at the same time .. he didn’t eat to have money to take the bus
It shows that he made the scar himself, it represents what he went through, yoongi said he meant to show the scar healing in haegeum unlike daechwita .. he said that mean he is okay now and he said agust d is one of his personalities who faced these things, you can see suga tried to kill agust d the personality with the scar in both daechwita and haegeum , he is trying to kill and forget his bad memories that made that person to continue his life .
and he will stop to do songs under agust d again because the scar is healed now but that doesn’t mean the end he said if he found other things to talk about he will do , but now might release things under suga or yoongi

Him being in that room was him being trapped in his amygdala, the video shows perfectly what the song is saying which is his traumatic experiences that happened to him for real. I appreciate him for being vulnerable and this raw with us and this song is definitely my favourite from the album. Yoongi is so strong
This is suga real life story that happened 😢he didn't even tell his company about his shoulder accident and members.. Suga suffer from depression and anxiety too before.... This is his real story that is why fans are all sad about this...if you watched suga show with rm he said this song was very difficult to write...
Suga mentioned in his first mixed tape that he tried to unalive himself and the hitting the car was true. I think the scar on his eye represents the beginning of August D after all the pain and hurt he went through. He's such an awesome storyteller.
I'm glad someone finally mentioned all this especially the first part...I was starting to doubt what I knew. But Suga has always been an advocate for mental health and sharing his struggles with us. I agree, amazing storyteller.

When Yoongi is singing the line " Mom's heart surgery " he keeps repeating the last syllable he said. He basically said 엄마 심장의 수술 ( 술 술 술 술 ). 수술 ( susul ) means heart surgery, but 술 ( sul ) by itself means alcohol... Impling that, at that hard time, he was drinking a lot...

Dt, of course everything was real!!! He was referring to “his” mom heart surgery and “his” dad liver cancer. He always has said that he talks about his experiences in the songs. Sadly we didn’t know nothing about what he talks in amygdala. makes my heart ache thinking that he had to experience all this throughout his life

the shoulder injury, mom's heart surgery, dad's liver cancer, going through depression, and anxiety Being afraid to be in big crowds and so much more is all real things that happened in his past and what yoongi himself went through. he opened up to us even more with "AMYGDALA" and his past I also believe he did this for himself this is something that takes courage to do especially opening up like that to the world I'm genuinely beyond proud of yoongi I know all of this has made him stronger and as he said in the video made him blossom like a lotus flower through the years. Yoongi is truly such an inspiration and I truly love him so much for putting such a RAW and personal album like this out for us to hear.

BRAVE man this August D. If I were a man, my hat is off to him. This man is so private and I can’t even imagine how difficult it must have been to write this song & even more so, make this MV. Mad LOVE for this Suga, he has a special place in my heart.

yes DT it did happen to him, all the mentioned incidents. but ofc the scar is just a visual representation of what the trauma has caused him maybe, the wounds and scar from those traumatic memories which he cannot get out of his amygdala. it is indeed a heavy m. so PROUD OF YOONGI FOR BRINGING IT OUT IN THE WORLD. It's about what he went through in real life (accident, mom and dad's health issues, depression, pain, etc.). It shows his personal/internal struggles and why his other persona (he who bares the scar on his eye) came to be.

The shoulder injury happened during his trainee days.....he didn't get the shoulder surgery until 2020.
In order to perform, his shoulder was taped, he took meds and received shots until the pain was unbearable
Depression among other things is often viewed as a weakness and embarrassment. Yoongi has proven it otherwise for many sufferers. It's not a disability, it's a strength you can leverage.

I think somehow Jung's Map of The Soul played a part in helping him overcame his pain/struggles. If that's what happened, I'm way more grateful BTS took Jung's theory as a reference for their craft.

the imagery of pills is related to the fact that he mentioned in previous interviews that because of his shoulder injury, he was taking pain medication for years. although he mentioned that he visited a psychiatrist in "The Last", I don't think I can recount him mentioning him being on anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication.
Yes, this all did indeed happen to him. And at such a young age. I'm truly surprised you didn't know. (NO offense, just surprised) The scar is just a symbol of his trauma -- he recently said that we make our own scars, be they physical or emotional/mental/spiritual.
I can listen to this beautiful, amazing song and just enjoy it but when I pair it with the video it becomes heartbreaking. Yet I've watched it many times. I cry sometimes and not others but I always get choked up and the lump in my stomach. I love Yoongi and this album so much I can't even describe the intensity.

He showcases 2 different personas in the MVs. This time it was a bit more raw and vulnerable compared to the other 2, I kinda interpreted the personas as one that was stuck in his memories and the other was living through them? I am not too sure though. But I’m guessing this was how scar yoongi from daechwita was formed, and his backstory (maybe a dark version of him).
Yeah....all this really happened.... he's brave to share all his struggles but it's a good example of success!!!
I heard this track the day it was released and it was a punch in the gut. I’ve lived through life crises too and it was pretty triggering, reminding me of a time (sadly before their debut) when my life was falling around my ears and I found myself in a very dark place indeed.

This is him getting everything out of his chest, and how he felt at that time. He needed to let us know how he felt.
that's scar mean all his hard times, he didn't hurt him fisically but mentally.all his hard time since he was born,sometimes though himself useless for himself /family, blaming himself for what happened (even if it was not his fault ).gambling his future as idol against his parents dream, so yeah he had so much hard things he was going through give him depression and mental issues.

What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out.
But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹

yes all of this is true. we knew about his mom surgery and his accident from previous songs off of previous albums. i think the only thing we didn't know about his dad cancer. at least i didn't know about his dad cancer until this song.

The amygdala is the part of the brain where you store your emotions and experiences and mostly the traumatic experiences come back when you`re in a similiar situation again. That helps you to protect yourself. But its also the place where you store your "inner" scars, those only you know about and can see. Thats why Yoongi in the leather jacket has no visible scar, but Yoongi in the room. Representing his amygdala, and the moment he feels guilt for things that were "out of his control" he hurts and puts a scar to himself. And you cant erase your memories, they`ll stay with your forever. Thats why amygdala Yoongi stays traped in the room, he has to learn to deal with it.
I’m a Psychology Professor in UK. It’s understandable if your heart feels heavy but, shows he’s now at peace & able to share it, as it was. I’am proud as a Psych. I hope all we talk to, no matter how long it may take, they come out the other end & don’t give up. Anyone struggling use this to help heal, he’s not just done this for himself, to let Army in but, to also send the message don’t suffer in silence. I cried when I watched this & so proud of this gent. Stay blessed all🙏💜🧿

It's ALL real and DID happen..his mother had a heart attack, his father diagnosed with liver cancer-his motorbike accident, then the pain pills, etc., because he didn't want them to know he was that badly hurt, etc.-he has overcome so much and should be so proud of where he is now. It easily explains his demeanor-he carried so much baggage for so long.
I saw him perform this live 04/26 and it was such an emotional experience. I relate to this song, no one truly knows what someone is going through. I went through a tough time and that’s why I got a lotus flower tattoo. Just be kind.

Suga had a real car accident before debut at his part time job being the delivery boy riding motorcycle he was also newspaper boy delivery newspaper and he worked a graveyard shift back in high school because he couldn't afford his family couldn't afford ... and also this song is about him in the past trying to......he was suicidal but he is no longer he will no longer do it. He reborn the lotus symbol is being reborn he is stronger now

There's a few people reacting to this video, who didn't know about this part of his past. I didn't know about his parents health problems. I'm not sure if he ever talked about taking the pain pills before. Maybe big someone knows if he did. Maybe this song and video will open the door about mental health, trauma and making that available more to everyone. I give him much credit for sharing such personal struggles, when he is so out here as it is. He's a special man do that

There is a theory that the amygdala can unconsciously delete some memories. Suga asks his amygdala to save him from bad memories of the past, BTS has introduced a book by a Korean author of the same name

The scar is actually pointing to the fact that it scarred him, metaphorically.
The dark room is where he is trapped in, the part of his brain amygdala which deals with trauma and the processing of it.
Yoongi asked Armys to watch Daechwita then Haegeum, and then Amygdala.
Amygdala is like a prequel to the other two.
We understand the presence of the scar now.
His trauma which scarred him and made him into an angry person.
He is healed in Haegeum.
So everything thats written in the lyrics are true, actually happened to him. The scar, he didn't actually do it, but he said he put it there to represent how many of our scars are made by ourselves, in the sense that things can become scars or something worse depending in how we decide to deal with them. I really love yoongi a lot and I'm so thankful of how raw and honest he is with us through his work.

Suga's mom had to have heart surgery soon after he was born. So he had to go to his grandparents to be raised. Soon after his dad was diagnosed with cancer. He was eventually able to go back to his parents. So everything was true. This is like the birth of the 1st AugstD,
His dad’s cancer was quite recent. It’s after they debut. He said that he got a call about it during his schedule.

Yes, it happened. This MV is very deep and heartbreaking to go thru these experiences. He's finally letting us into his past and release his pain.

I can't forget that verse in 'The Last' where he opened up about going to a psychiatrist, and the long censoring monotone beep to the question that was asked "Have you ever ---------". At that point most people were speculating it was the doctor asking about self-harming, and in the song he replied 'unhesistantly, I said I did it'. That was his first mixtape. I don't know, this song and mv just reminded me so much of that. The pen knife in his hands and the self inflicted injury . The knife appeared right when he was stuck in pain, reliving his night mares too. As someone who've been through and done that... gosh, it just hit me so much more than I thought it would. There was also a split second of a knife falling onto the ground in the mv. There is nothing 'scripted' in this video, he was reliving and portraying all his personal traumatic experiences, so imagine why he chose to include that scene. I find it very symbolic. Also, him finding his mom on the ground, his accident, the pills (whether it was antidepressants or pain killers for his shoulder), him agonizing in a basketball court as the sun sets (He talked about this part of his past before in 2015), the surgery lights that he saw while lying down, having to learn his dad's situation through the phone. I cannot imagine what he went through
This is his own story… a heartbreaking one that he overcame all the past years. He suffered depression and anxiety because of all his traumatic experiences since he was young and even suicidal at one time. Thank God he chose to fight and be alive.
I just realized that he left a season of bon voyage early, that might’ve been when he found out about his dad (just speculation dont take me too seriously)
His new music is all about suga coming away from anger and August d and being yoongi/ suga

No he did cut his eye, but as he told that scar indicates his pain suffering, which remained as scar with him all these years as August d .
So u could see that scar in daechwita n haegum. N now that August d is gone , the scar also. Means he's healed now. No more scar.

Pretty sure that all this stuff actually happened. Not the symbolic stuff - the eyelid cutting, being locked in a room, and the handful of almonds - but I'm confident all the events are true. Which is heart-breaking.

So that stuff all did happen. Events from his real life. The scar if you’ll notice is the same scar as the alter egos in both dechwitcha and haegum so maybe the origin story of those darker unwanted sides of himself that he keeps trying to “kill”.

This is a stylized retelling of his trauma, some of it, at least. He was a delivery person while he was a trainee and was hit by a car, but instead of the video he actually came off the bike and hit his shoulder and his head was almost crushed under the tire. He has talked about suicide and depression. He's had one hell of a life, and nothing was handed to him.

What is the definition of amygdala? "The amygdala is responsible for the perception of emotions such as anger, fear, and sadness, as well as the controlling of aggression. The amygdala helps to store memories of events and emotions so that an individual may be able to recognize similar events in the future." His traumatic past created Agust D (which is why there is a cut on his face, symbolic of that side of him being created). Yoongi said that the plan was to do three albums, this one is the final one of the trilogy. It is also true that his father received a cancer diagnosis and his mother did indeed have surgery, both events, along with his own injury played a significant role in his depression. It is also true that he did try to commit suicide at one point in his life. So this video is really about him, his trauma, and his past.

Yea he’s taking you through his painful memories, they are real. The razor over his face and the pills were his choice of suicide but obviously he was saved from self harm. Third choice was to live but with his painful memories.The razor theme ia also through this trilogy where he kills that dark self and becomes owner of his own life and overcoming his past. At least that’s how I interpret it.
