Hey Lucia, As a 58 year old engineer I absolutely love what you are doing here. Cool designs, quality engineering and up-cycling where possible. What a range of skills you have mastered coupled with superb videos. Most of all you are demonstrating that the joy and satisfaction that comes from engineering is not just "men only" it is for everyone. Excellent work.
Same here. Impressive work, and great videos made. Sad to see in the comment sections that there are quite a few men around that are having quite big problems with seeing a lady outdoing them in 'their' trade. The world moves forward, but quite slow within some fields. Yes to more women in the field of metal working.

okay when you said you were gonna make a belt grinder... i really wasn't ready fro you to literally every single part from raw materials. this is amazing and you're my hero.
I have been watching plenty of videos of belt grinders because I want to make one for myself, and hands down this is by far the fanciest. It´s so cool and complicated in fact, that i won´t be able to make something that complex. This isn´t a DIY, this is highly professional work, and you can definetly be proud of yourself!👍
While many women and even men may not see industrial tools up close in their lifetime, I am very happy to see women who are among the most professional in manufacturing. I like very polished metals and I am happy that this interest is shared by many people. Good luck .
Wow, that's honestly one of the best built grinders I've seen so far... Starting with using your scraps and not grapping back to stock material, makes this one unique... Also it's always a pleasure to see people master their craft, so all thumbs up to you Lucia! Though I'm a little bit jealous for your workshop... 😉
These videos are fun! I love how quickly you can get the point across for what you're doing without having to listen to a half hour of angle grinders through a headphone. Your shop is lovely too, that lathe looks beautiful!
I've watched so many diy belt sander videos on RUclips. From plywood frame to waterjet cut steel and everything in between. This is one of the best by far !! Can't wait to see what you come up with next !!
The ones made from wood well anything like that gets me. I know it will work for a little but why build if your going to have to do it over "make it right the first time"
YOU ARE ABSOLUTLY AMAZING LUCIA!!! I just came across your channel by accident, a very good accident indeed, because there was metal involved, only watched a few minutes before I subscribed, now I'm hooked! Amazing attention to detail as well! Top-notch videography too! Your belt grinder build is flawless! Watching here in Missouri, the heartland in the USA. Your machine & tool arsenal is...well, what all of us metal fabricators drool over, you have every machine one could hope to ever own (at a home-small business) shop. Thank you for sharing your skills and craft with all of us out here, I can't wait to see more! I'll probably click on your videos and binge all night with a good cabernet. I've watched many welding, metal working, casting, machine shops on youtube but you Lucia, are the only one that actually cleans up after yourself as you work! Great job and very impressive!
Wow, Lucia! You've got the tools, and you clearly know how to use them. I've seen commercial machinery that isn't as well-built as yours. Nicely done. 👍
Greetings from Whidbey Island, Washington State, USA. I was directed here by Homemade Tools. I subscribed after watching for about three minutes. You are an exceptionally talented and skilled metalworker. Additionally, the videography and editing are of the highest professional quality. I look forward to watching many more videos of what's happening in Lucia's Workshop.
I'm very impressed of your engineer skill, if I had 50% of your skill had I been happy your grandfather must bee proud and happy wiht you have done to the old shop.
A great build, and great production values (as you're hearing from everyone else too). I'd love it if you could include a bit more content about your processes, design, techniques etc, to provide a bit more practicality to the great shots. Keep putting out the content :)

Really? I think it looks like an industrial product. That thing will likely last forever. If you were to consign a one-off it to be manufactured from a rough sketch and list of criteria, it would be in the 50-60K USD range... in volume, this COULD be brought down to roughly 8-9K USD ( 2000+ pieces )
Excellent video. I am a shop teacher and looking to inspire more girls to get into the shop and take some classes. I have shared your channel with them.
A lot of things to like - the editing pace is just right, the way each component turns out bevelled and clean, the fact that you started with raw materials. Great work! Just about convinced me to invest in a milling machine... just need the space.

It is so nice to see a woman in the metal shop. Now that I know that it was your grampa's shop, I know where the older machines came from. The older machines were built to last and were not made from sheet metal and plastic like today's machines are. You just can't beat cast iron, bronze, or solid steel, especially for milling machines. I liked the sequencing of the video, though I wouldn't mind seeing the entire build. You have yourself a new subscriber! My father was a welder and taught me how to Tig-weld when I was twelve yrs old. He had a huge welder mounted to the back of his pickup truck and would drive it to different jobs. We would take trips to the junkyard with a bucket and fill it up with interesting machine parts to make into animals that I loved. I miss Dad. I'm now 60 and own several welders myself. I am saving for an expensive plasma-cutting machine! I do woodworking primarily, but started 10 yrs ago to incorporate metal into the furniture I build, and love the creativity that comes with the two. PS: What region of Italy are you in?

Thank you
Impressive skills! Excellent design, fabrication, machining, and welding!! Just right amount of detail. This video and the machine should be displayed in a prominent place in a museum of fine art!!! Splendid.
I have seen many similar videos of this projects in past but your video is best among them, specially all those little details!!!!
I can't begin to guess how much you have to know to get to the point where you're designing and fabricating your own tools. Bravo!
Thank you
Nice to see properly utilized equipment and tools.

It's like a Burr King Belt Grinder I had for Knife Making. It cost me $1500 back in the 80's and I loved that tool . They are around $2400 now and I sure wish I had mine still. With the Baldor Motor they last forever. I took it apart to ship it and lost some of the parts and it was never the same. I should have left it intact. Great work ~ You are the shopsmith's dream girl and I wish you well. The Burr King Knife Maker I think that was it's name and they still make them. Aloha ~
I have to say. You have a nice shop. And you know how to use your machines.
i am so jealous of how amazing your fabrication skills are
I like the design and how sturdy it is. Its definitely a lifetime tool.
The individual parts you fabricate are like little works of art in their own right. Once assembled, we are left with a lovely looking belt grinder...it's brilliant.
Impressive editing on the video, a very clean workshop, and truck loads of skill.
Thank you very much!
I’m impressed as hell that you smelted and turned your own aluminum rollers.
Wow… mine was made with a drill and a angle grinder. Impressive work! Yours is very nice!
