  • "NOT URETHANE!" The NU Blue Hammer has been the most controversial release of 2023 and quite possible the most well received ball in history! I LOVE THE PURPLE HAMMER. I think it's one of the best balls ever made, period. Now I get to throw the ball that will be seen all over the PBA Tour!
With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Launch Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Entry Speed - Speed measured at the pins. (What you'd see on your home center MPH screens)
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

I have so many questions about this ball.
    1) is the surface similar to the Pink Widow Urethane
2)who would benefit this ball more, rev dominant players or speed dominant players
    3) how far left (for a right hander) can you get with this ball
I would love to see a video comparing all of the Brunswick urethane balls I.e purple hammer, pink widow, attitude control as well as other urethane balls under the brunswick tree. Radical, ebonite, track, columbia 300 (I know DV8 don’t have a urethane ball). But yea, I know that would be a long video, but i would really appreciate and enjoy a video like that. Another great video as usual, and I am always excited to listen and learn from you. Keep up the great work you’re doing and I hopefully will be looking forward to my video suggestion

Noooo!!! My pink hammer pearl urethane is 800 grit out the box and way stronger. This ball is less snappy more smooth and alot straighter. You def have to slow down with this ball to get it to move. The pink you can throw any speed and it’s gunna move where ya want it to move too. Save your money, Find a friend or someone who has one and throw theirs. I’m dissapointed. And alot of locals kind of regret their purchase. Lol

I’d like to know how tunable the cover is. The purple is way too strong in my house OOB, and if you polish it to the maximum it becomes somewhat usable. I’d love to see a ball with the motion of a purple, but a cover more in line with the lower volumes targeted by the old Faball blue pearl and pink Hammers. Is the NU with less surface or polish going to be weaker like urethane, or snappier like resin?

I just always feel weird about throwing thane because it does destroy the friction in the pattern. This ball did dry the line out but I would say the transition I usually see took a full game longer than usual before I had to start stepping left. I really wouldn't put the blame on the PBA, nor would I call them petty. In the past, before modern technology made the bowling balls what they are now. USBC (fka ABC/WIBC) minimum ball hardness was 72 on the durometer. PBA minimum was 75.
All the rule changes that the PBA has made are most likely in response to what have happened the last few years in tournaments that have been operated by the powers-that-be at the USBC Executive level and their jaundiced or back-handed approach of operating the Sport. The PBA decided to confront the issue and devote research into the matter. The USBC Did Not.
If you really want to assess blame, look no further than the USBC and their Executive Director.

During the course of the summer I messed with the balls surface it and it took well to surface changes. I wonder if the cover on the blue hammer is derived or the same as the axe spare balls. @brunsnick  10 месяцев назад +2

      They changed the rules again.
Q: What new rules were implemented as part of the release of this report? A: There are two new rules, both related to bowling ball hardness.
      1. The first rule is that all urethane and urethane-like bowling balls must be manufactured at a minimum of 78.0HD. This rule is for all levels of PBA Tour competition, but not recreational amateur league bowling or PBA League Bowler Certification tournaments.
      2. The second rule is that ALL balls to be used on the PBA National Tour ONLY, must be manufactured on or after August 1, 2022, commensurate with the USBC’s implementation date of its rule raising the requirement of all balls be manufactured at a minimum of 73.0HD (up from previous USBC rule of 72.0HD).

In your experiences; what is your take on the difference between the two? As an example; what would the difference be between a Purple Hammer and a ball like a Blue Messenger with some surface and the pin between 1-2 inches from the PAP? I would say that the ball manufacturers that make urethane bowling balls are no doubt making their own versions of the NU Blue Hammer. That is whatever they will call their balls and what colors they will have. I don't think that competitors will let one company keep the monopoly on not urethane bowling balls for very long that is why I think that other ball making companies are making their own versions as I post this.
