LMAO
Nice video! It's only "urethane-like" due to the shape, but they don't call it "reactive" either. It is like a whole new category of ball to deal with the PBA's goofy hardness rule.
It isn’t the PBA’s hardness rule. It is all bowling’s hardness rule, USBC included. The Purple starts league, then goes illegal within 10 shots. It’ll harden again, but eventually just gets too soft. We’ll what this blue does, longevity wise, surface wise, etc…. Purple was so good because it was illegal.
*cough* VBP did this 25 years ago *cough*
@@ogdensmissingsign4124was gonna say this isn’t new in the least
I’m sure it will get glowing reviews from you guys on tour 👌🏻
Let's go! I was almost set on getting the Teal Rhino Pro, but I think this is going to replace my PH as well as that spot in the bag. Looks $$$$
I do also love my teal rhino!
Teal Rhino 🔥
Hey pookie, awesome vid love the breakdowns of your moves.. going to get your biggest fan this ball soon. Of course he talks about you constantly.. love the man You've become.. best of luck in the upcoming tournaments
Hammer>Rhino
Thank you for the quick & quality review
Looks like a great addition!!
So glad my local center told Brunswick to fuck off about string pins
What are the bowling balls weight?
i like the new blue but the purple with always be a classic
Idk who else Hammer would trust with a purple hammer alternative other than packy. Hammer's sales from 2H bowlers going 📈📈📈
I bet having your own bowling ball makes you more consistent and confident
Absolutely!!
is this Wichita state?
This is!!
Are you missing those spares or just marking them in the computer lmao..I just need to know if you are a team 8 bagger or team spares kind of guy
Love the videos. I haven't thrown a ball in years and I sure miss it! Working nights in a small town doesn't help, but the fact that our little 14 lane house closed down a few years ago really kills it. I think the closest house to me now is roughly 80 miles away, a little far for league night. I wonder if my old Black Hammer would still make that sweet, sweet sound as it crashes through the pocket? Hmmm... I doubt seriously that I could throw it at the same speed or same rev rate I did a few years ago... Damn, I miss bowling.
Same thing here. Live in small mountain town and they closed down the bowling center. 100 miles round trip to bowl. Not in the cards.
Packy coming out HOT after the announcement! Quality of the vids continuing to grow, love to see it
He is a pro he will figure it put
Idk why but that blue hammer NU just looks nice hopefully you have a great season and win a major or two. Hood luck Packy. Edit: Also I’m very surprised that I’m this early to a video
I hope so too!! I really crunched on time to get this thing done!
I absolutely loved the blue in the day, drilled semi finger tip. Rolled my best games. Ive been out of it for 15-20 years and have been thinking about getting back into it. Releasing this blue makes it even more likely I come back. Although Ill roll a 14 instead a 15 being almost 70 years old now. Now I need a spare ball. Back in the day it was my Black Hammer drilled straight. Wonder if they have something like the black too?
I still have my last ball a purple rhino pro love that ball that was my first reactive.
I'm just in the market for a new ball (only get one every twenty years or so) so I guess my timing is good!
I may be going with a 14# after using only 16#. Can't hang on to those anymore, keep dropping them.
The Gold Crown from Brunswick is the straight ball.
@@KC9UDX Same here, not bowling alot, no longer in leagues, so the 16 is a bit much right now. I am actually considering dropping back down to my first ball weight (40yrs ago) at 12 lbs.
@@chrish7336 I had a 12# then, kinda wish I still had it
Thanks for the video. The ball has a similar look to the OG Blue Hammer. I loved the OG. I know this ball is nowhere near what the old Blue Hammer was, but I will probably get one anyway.
The OG was a monster!
Those first games show the consistency of a true professional. Jeez.
What how it’s no bueno!
@@TheHouseBowling same score with each ball right? Thats wild! May not have been the same path but they made it to the same destination.
I had a blue urethane Hammer back in the early 90's that looked like the blue hammer you just got.
lol I saw this ball earlier today first thing I thought was if you are going to love it. I sure hope you do. It is a damn good looking ball.
I couldn't pay attention all I see is string pins😂
Come on now 😂😂
It kinda bothers me. Lol.
I am very excited to try this ball. But because im not a pro and bowl for fun, should I just go with the purple? My main ball now is a Hammer Redemption pearl. Id like to add a ball, and it was going to be a purple hammer. But now the blue one is here.
Either the purple or the blue you can’t go wrong!!
me: So bad. 5
Packy: So bad. 10
Ball looks good, but curious how it will transition the lanes. Will it impact similar to Urethane, Reactive, or something in-between?
Motiv’s microcell is sort of similar to the blue and it is definitely somewhere in between but closer to urethane. At least in my experience.
@@trickymass8839 So , you're saying, it carries the oil down the lane?
@@williamh1973all balls carry oil down the lane. The order from least to greatest: reactive solid, reactive pearl, microcell , urethane, pearl uelrethane, plastic, rubber.
Lol be careful tell some of these bowlers all their ball carry oil down the lane. They will go bonkers. The skies falling kind of world ending response.
Knowing hammer they put just enough "reactive" in it to absorb oil at 43:44 seconds. So while it wouldn't meet the PBA/USBC rule for urethane, it's likely mostly urethane lol
Wow, I picked up an OG blue hammer from marketplace last season and love that old ball, this just got me so hyped!
I dont care if you throw it in league or not. I don't care if you throw it in tournaments or not. Do whatever you want.
I thought the purple reactive was supposed to be the reactive equivalent to the purple hammer? Either way looks 🔥
I think they just have the same core
NU doesn’t act like a normal reactive
Highly considering this ball, still new to bowling but this channel has helped my game grow little by little. Nice work man, doing a great job!
It really nice sky blue hammer NU is the best bowling ball and it almost even with purple hammer bowling ball get into strike zone, wow. 😮
Ball looks great! Would love to see another video showcasing this ball on a short pattern to see if it does well with that too
👇 if you miss the old pinsetter noise
Lol it is quiet in the fore sure! 😅
How are the pins set?
Begging for likes 🤢
@@sepg5084hating on people just cause yikes
tbh if it is even 90% as good as the purple. itll just BE better because you dont have to adjust to your own carry down
Are those string pins
crazy what they come out with!! Looks like it has a pretty decent core in it too. It hits pretty hard. I would definitely give in a try in a tourny👍
Motiv did it first with the MCP. Motiv is always ahead of the game. I love my blue tank. Cool to see other brands going to this new technology
Motiv isn’t ahead of anything other than higher prices
Also Brunswick had BTU before Motivs MCP
@@that_andy_guyMotiv has made it big tho
Both my balls just got stolen :( one was very sentimental cus It was my prize for my first tournament win….idk what I’m goin to do next, I’m thinking about getting that beautiful blue hammer! Just can’t afford it yet…people suck
I’m excited for this one! Just curious, do you still need to give it a warmup shot like a traditional urethane?
Not really I didn’t notice but don’t take my word for it, only had it for 2 days lol
From what I heard from local staffers, the N.U. is the same ball from shot one to shot 20. Instantly reacts like the purple instead of having to "marinate" the purple in some oil.
Like the color of the new Blue Hammer. Nice review!
Cool video talk tech bowling blue hammer not urethane bowling ball with carbon fiber technology in the bowling ball more strike and spares hitting power at time packy
I want to see someone compare a brunswick twist or storm tropical surge to the nu blue hammer. Hit it with maybe 2000 and it may look similar I think.
So it has similar ball reaction to urethane, but it's not made from urethane at all?
I bowled as a kid on a saturday league forever. Translated to adult leagues through around 1998. Have not bowled since then except a time or two. Love your videos and I'm completely lost my last ball was a blue rino. I'm now bowling 2x a month a work friend gave me a couple of balls and I had them fitted to me. I know I'm lost out there by myself bowling but it's so much fun. You guys are in a different stratosphere than me but I can swing a mean hook, lol. The detail and sophistication is insane. I might pick up a NU ball. Are you throwing 15lb?
When I first heard of this ball I was way to excitedc it looks good thanks for making this video
Hey dude, I really appreciate you making these videos on bowling balls so I can see what I like about it and see what I don’t without having to actually buy it keep up the amazing content. Love you man I might get one of those NU blue hammers.
Don’t forget to grab yours from the link in description at Buddies Pro Shop .com 😁
This ball will be PHENOMENAL👏🏾🔥
Packy, did you notice it absorbing or was it leaving oil on the cover? did it shine up pretty quick or did it hold onto the surface pretty good? I noticed the core flares twice as much as regular purple, you think it’s gonna chew up the lane as much? How much was it flaring? I was gonna drill a fresh purple pin thane but if this one is close I might just go with it, looks pretty damn close
I just watched hammers video on it and it looks so good!
My dad took me bowling when I was Twelve! I fell in love with the game and followed all the grates, watched regularly, had my own ball, shoes, played on a league etc. After my first wife died, I did just a little more bowling (around 35 years all together) and that was when I decided to use a new technique! I could throw my bowling shoes at the pins and get a better score!!
Uhhh I get my balls drilled a lot
It's already been changed forever....for the worse.
Let's gooooo packy, I might get the nu blue hammer
almost here it's next month on the 15th and I sure do love bowling myself how come everytime I see my grandpa he takes me bowling when he can
Obviously I'm late, when did the student center change to strings?
Never have owned a hammer ball... this one will be my first!
Hammer is amazing and so is the slogan actually best one in bowling period!
Nothing hits like a hammer
I have a widow 2.0 it's a damn good ball
I only throw my black widow urethane when I need a mental reset because I bowl on natural hardwood not synthetic so urethane is kinda pointless on natural hardwood... I basically do it to push oil away then I either throw my black widow legend or global 900 zenmaster
This. All might be perfect for the wood lanes!
@@TheHouseBowling I am planning on buying one and trying it my average in league is 203 on Mondays and 207 on Wednesday so I have a couple pins I can play with as far as handicap 🤣
I went 700 last night with the purple hammer on wood. Front 9 on first game. On short light (35' 15 mil) oil on wood, I can't keep urethane on the lane, except old stuff (red hammer, headhunter)
I have a question, when you give away gifts to the new subscribers and they are based on them being subbed, what about the ones that have been a fan for years? Just an honest question, nothing more behind it.
Did I see string pins???? Honestly the new Blue looks really good.
Thanks, PH!
I wonder when the pros, crying to the PBA about Purple, will start crying about NU Blue
Hey Packky! I just saw a vid on the NU blue hammer. My preorder is already in. Lol
This blue NU is super enticing.
Cool video talk tech bowling bowling ball packy
Wait can someone explain to me the new rules regarding urethane
PBA only requires the new urethane to be above 78 hardness level in PBA COMPETITION ONLY
Ouch! So that pretty much eliminates all urethane balls from competition, or just the purple hammers?
great video bro
Def a nice looking ball ^.^
Shelf appeal is High!
how much difference did you see with the ball reacting in the same place as the purple hammer, Nice ball.................I want one!!!!!!
just got back into bowling after over 20 years and wow ball have changed a lot.
At your level you could adjust to a low priced ball. You just need some balls for different conditions. You were doing so great with old faithful, no need to look for a replacement.
Bowling novice here. Why are balls banned? And what are string pins. TIA.
Rules change in bowling and they changed the hardness level that a bowling ball has to be at which some of the balls made before before this rule change will become illegal when the rules goes into effect!
String pins are pins with strings attaching them to the machines different from the opposite… a “free fall” pin.
I don’t see a lot of difference which is awesome you get the money ball motion without the urethane trashing carry down issues I see no downside so far
It’s not the urethane cover itself that causes carry down, it’s low flaring cores that cause that. 🤔
@@bunker5696like spare balls?
@@masonhickey2145 yup spare balls also cause carry down
So then the question is this ball going to cause carry down like a urethane ball…..
@@bunker5696I've got the urethane Widow, it flares about 3" wide and I still get carry-down issues
The Blue Hammer, ball of the year 2024?????
Im really looking Forward to see what you do in tourneys with the NUBlue... really interested in the ball
Hi Packy, what is the dual angle layout for those bowling balls. I am interested in drilling a ball like that? What is that layout post to do? Hook more or less. I am looking for a layout that hooks less? What do you recommend?
Awesome video Packy! When does this Blue Hammer release? My only critique would be the color. The sky blue makes it almost look like a house ball. But if it shapes the way you need and it drives through the pins, i guess the color doesn't matter. Blue is the new purple. 😂
I got recommended the hammer video for the nu ball because I watch your channel. Hope they kick you a couple bucks! Lol
Good looking ball. Love me some Hammers!!
The big thing I'm interested in is whether the new Blue creates urethane-like carrydown. Does the cover have urethane-like oil absorption qualities (or lack thereof) or is there something else happening? Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!
I was wondering the same exact thing
“I Can’t Believe It’s Not Urethane!”
That ball looks so good
Longtime subscriber would love to win the giveaway
Hope you win!
What would happen if you put a big core in a plastic ball!? I can use plastic on a house shot to blend the over/under on the side and make the shape look like old urethane but need a little more back end.
Phil Cardinale and BrunsNick commented about that in one of their recent videos.
@rippycripple well the Black Widow Viz a ball has the gas mask core in it and I use it for my urethane instead of a actual urethane. Works really good and hit when you need it.
I did shoot 300 with a radical spy!
The spy is such a fun ball to use,I love it so much. When the lanes are hot trash or not you can almost always use it. I feel it is truly underrated., Wondering if we will see more of them in use as well as the NU blue with the new rules@@TheHouseBowling
I went to my proshop today and ask about this ball seeing if it hooks like the purple rhino i have. It hooks a bit more but i like it better than my purple rhino and i use it as my main strike ball after one day. I got it early from my proshop. To my surprize they had my weight for the ball on display. It was a 15 pound ball. If it was anything else I wouldve had to wait till the balls are to be going out to the public. The proshop employee said that these balls aren't supposed to be released for about another three weeks. my recommendation if you like to do a big hook at your strikes to use this ball. I had to show the employee the video of packy with this ball this same video that i am commenting on right now and on the display shelf there was one my size and my weight. I love on the ball that it saids "NOT URATHANE". I had to ask them before i went home to get my checkbook If it hooks just a tiny bit more than my purple rhino and he said yes. I gotten balls where the hook was to much to control for the speed and weight that i throw. I got the ball he said you mean that one and i was like I hit the jackpot. I played three games with it and my average before i used this ball was 120-130 one a lucky day it would be 140 at most. I waas shooting 155, 172, and 134 with my first three games with this ball. I just need to practice shooting at 10 pins cause when I have a good angle and target at it my TZONE plastic ball barely hooks by it. All and all get this ball and you will not regret it at all.
New subscriber here.
Your content is great and well presented.
I’ve just returned to league bowling after a 25 year hiatus. I picked up on all of the BIG changes in ball technology through your channel - my 1996 “Norm Duke Hammer” isn’t cutting it any more. Interested in the new blue NU Hammer. Will be looking at this ball for when it comes out next month.
Glad I can keep you up to date and love to see you getting back into bowling! Don’t forget you can get all your bowling needs at buddies pro shop using the link in description!😁
I can’t believe people are throwing with two hands now . A person would have been laughed out of the bowling alley back in the early 90’s when I was a serious bowler , lol .
I know this is a Hammer review. But just wanted to let you know i bought a Mindset after watching your review on it. Shot 295 last night in league with it. Greek churched the final shot. Fast feet and pulled.
Thats stills great game! Glad your having success with a great ball, for sure in my tournament bag!
Now for the funny part game before 165
Wait now that I'm thinking about Urethane balls, I'm thinking I don't even recall you throwing Pitch Black... have you? If so why don't you use it?
Because he is signed with Brunswick and the 7 brands of it, and Storm is not a part of it. Storm owns Roto grip and 900 global only. Hope that helps.
@@mcthe2handedbowler392 oh yeah ig that makes sense 😀
The NU looks promising. I still love my purple hammer at least I can still use it in league. I'm still upset about USBC banning Purple Hammer. I love that ball. I also have the Black Widow Pink that I love too. If Hammer comes out with another Black Widow NU coverstock, I would consider trying that first because I love that Black Widow Pink. It's my go to ball.
I just subscribed! Good luck to everyone. 🎉 Whoever gets it is very lucky. Also love the videos, keep making bangers.
Thanks!! I appreciate the support!
I’m pretty sure Motiv came out with this similar polymer first
It’s not polymer it’s “not urethane”
Hate PBA for forcing all these ball rules on you ladies and gents! Isn't it hard enough to bowl consistant on different oil patterns. Purple hammer is my jam.
That thing is gonna be going down the lane a lotttttttttt this year
Genuine question about your throw. I've been out of bowling for about a decade but used to have a respectable 210ish average as a casual enthusiast. Is using 2 hands to throw now the new standard motion? I've just never seen that before at a pro level. I used to see the kids throw that way a lot at the local alley, so maybe the kids all just grew up and kept throwing it that way. haha. Thanks for your time. Great vid!
Jason belmonte and Kyle troup both are some of the best and use 2 hands
Am I reading the rule wrong? Why can't they just make a urethane ball that's slightly harder and keep on using them?
Happy to see the Blue Hammer is looking good for you. Also now that it has been a little while, how has adjusting to string pins been?
Only practice here never really bowl for score but it’s harder to strike for sure!!
@@TheHouseBowling
I hope my center CDL, Idaho doesn't go with string. They said they wouldn't.
@@arthurr7866where do you bowl in Idaho? I’m from Nampa, what does CDL stand for?
I have never thrown a urethane ball before and while I was hoping to get one soon, although now I'm wondering if I should get this instead of a urethane because this might be the future of bowling. I want anyone's opinion on whether I should get a urethane ball or the NU. I bowl in a sport shot league and have been told by a few league members that it's good to have a urethane for some patterns.
Compare it to Purple Solid Reactive
Blue seams to be a little smoother
The Sky Blue Hammer!!!
Those pins are on strings!!!
Would you do a recap of the 50 strike challenge. I have watched several channels that tried it but would like to know your thoughts!
As the original we will give it another crack in a month or so! Love to build a little community style video for a good cause in the bowling world!
If it not urethane what is it?
It’s reactive but designed to make a urethane type motion!
Pausing at 0:27, how do these things sticking out of the finger holes not mess up the balls roll down the lane?
