This is the type of video I have been begging for on so many other channels. A clear explanation of a balls reaction on a house shot. So many videos out there are not very relevant to the average bowler. No offense but most of us are not needing to know what a pro bowler sees from a ball on a sport pattern cranking it. In my perfect world there would be reviews with a stroker, a tweener and a cranker throwing on a typical fresh house shot followed by a lane transitioning and lastly a burnt up lane.

I'm a casual bowler who bowls an avg 180 and hooks a $2 yard sale ball(Columbia 300?). I just bought this ball and have absolutely no idea how I should drill it. This video might as well have been Spanish

    • @TheRealNintendoKid
      @TheRealNintendoKid 9 месяцев назад +2

laneside reviews is pretty good for that sort of thing, but what gets me the most is so many of the bowlers explaining these things are 2-handed, which is fine, I'm not one of those boomers who hates 'those damn kids" for "ruining bowling" or whatever, but 2-handers seem to get maximum speed and rotation, and I don't, which makes the footage of how the ball reacts irrelevant to me.
I'd like to see a lot more comparison vidoes like this, with several examples of the same ball drilled different ways thrown by different people... I'd also really love it if I could find more info on older balls and comparisons between one ball and another.
We REALLY need some kind of database.

I've always bowled right handed with two fingers and a thumb. Over the summer due to an injury I switched to left handed with 2 fingers like you throw. So I really enjoy your channel. I initially got a Phaze 2, which got too strong so I've been throwing a Hustle M-M I hit with a 4000 pad. I have slow ball speed with pretty high Rev rate, I'm better at trying to finesse the ball.... but lately the Hustle has been hooking too much. I drilled my nu pretty close to the same as my purple, except cg on pap, and the nu flares about 3" total with line separation and hooks like crazy earlier than my purple, which i keep at 360/800 and the nu was out of box.
I was at a tournament so didn't try too many things to get a bead on it. But tonight im throwing it on wood and i anticipate some wild ball motion. The nu is nothing like anything else in my bag, and i have 7 different urethanes and many more reactives.
I even took my hand out of it and released off the top of the ball and it still continued through the pins. The nu blue is a pretty little monster. Honestly they should release it in pink as well.

The nu blue hammer is a cool looking ball for sure, but I play in a house with 30 yr. old spl and the oil pattern for the house shot is medium to medium dry, so lots of early friction to deal with and to top it off I have low ball speed (14.30 at the sensor down lane) My revs are 290 to 300 and this type of condition really forces me left. would this be the type of ball to use on this type of house shot with the stats that I have? I'm really looking for equipment that will help me play more up the boards with control and good carry. I'm currently using weaker balls and I feel that sometimes with weaker equipment that the carry isn't that great. how would you advise a guy like me on this kind of condition? do I just stick with the weak stuff and clean up the spares like I have been doing? or would this new type of ball be a better look better carry and or just better over all?

Revs are not needed to throw urethane. That is false intel.
I have an original Cobalt Rhino urethane with no core and simple label layout. I only have 135 revs. Shot 267 with it last week. Revs don't matter.

@@nordattack I wasn't talking about all urethanes. I've thrown three 279's with my old C300 Stingray(RIP). But the amount of ten pins and pocket 7-10's I left with the purple Hammer was really uncommon. Maybe it is the drilling. It maybe user error. Either way I couldn't figure it out.

@@nathancummins968 It is not lack of revs, it is burn up. This happens with me as well.
Purple is a super strong cover that reads the lane early and hard. On house shots, unless you have very high speed, it is only going to work for a short time before it starts dying out and leaving corners or pocket splits. If you want to use Purple on House and you have medium to lower ball speed then you need to do two things:
      1. Shine it up, 4000 grit and let it lane shine from there.
      2. Put a weaker layout on it that allows it to not read the lane so early. Then it will retain energy for the back.
The layout I use on my Purple is 80x4.75x45 and I keep it at 4000 grit and let it lane shine from there.
Weaker layouts for House and Stronger layouts for Sport.

@@nordattack I'll have to try a weaker layout. Maybe it'll unseat my current urethane ball Brunswick Headhunter.

@@nathancummins968 Many people make the mistake of putting a strong layout on a urethane ball. This is the worst thing you can do for a house shot. Urethane is the most early of all balls, combine that with a strong layout and you are just asking for burn out off your hand and weak hit at the pins. That's why your Stingray carried so well, it was older and harder urethane that did not read the lane as strong as modern urethane does. That's why my Cobalt Rhino with no core, zero flare layout and 2000 grit hits like a tank on House.

Also, someone might want to tell Packy that the NU balls he is throwing are Not Urethane. 🤣

My purple hooks too much on house shots. Would drill the NU just a bit weaker.
