We did the Birdsville- Windorah road with our on-road van towed by our MU-X. The van had a 50mm lift so it cleared the centre “ridge” of the dirt road. The road wasn’t in the best condition and it was when the Betoota hotel was closed. We used full tyre pressures, no cara-fan and fortunately we had very little dust inside the van. I think the only casualty was a shelf in the fridge that broke and deposited more than a litre of milk all over the floor. That took a lot of cleaning at the Windorah van park. We loved the drive though, so it was great to watch this episode to relive it all. We also lived at Augathella for a few years but now the town has a bypass so fewer people drop into the town itself. I believe that there is a pleasant free camp now beside the river.
@@rossharvey1496 yes it was a great drive and although we had a few things go wrong it didn’t take away from the experience. We called in to Augathella and got more sausages 😉 That milk would’ve been a nice color on the floor if it mixed with dust! Thanks for sharing Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hey Paul & Wenda, that was awesome watching that leg of your Birdsville trip. You always provide lots of detail about each place you visit - are you sure you guys aren’t travel agents 😂😂 You coped well with the three mishaps - you guys are always cool under pressure. Looking forward to next week’s video. Safe travels, Corrie and Lyn ❤

Well done on the video. The last time I was in Windorah, I had a great meal at the pub. We actually met some people from the RFDS and haven't had an absolutely fantastic night. I didn't know the petrol station was closed there until today. Thank you for the update. Well done, sparkles.
Betoota comes alive with the crowd going to the Big Red Bash. Where you stopped was full of vans parked up for the night before heading into Birdsville. Quirky little pub, enjoyed our stay. Congrats on picking the winning chicken.🏅
Love your adventures and videos. Thank you for sharing - you are living my dream. I've visited Australia about 30 times over my career but always work-related visits in the major cities (Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane). I find the outback roads and towns (and pubs!!) very interesting. Now in retirement we'll plan to visit and explore greater Australia and hope to expand into the more remote areas to truly appreciate the beauty of Australia. Keep the videos and recommendation coming! Cheers!
