That was the way it had been written, but the record company people told them that it wouldn't be popular, or wouldn't sell with Amy alone (wtf?!) so they brought in a guest vocalist just for this track. I do like this version also, but they sure proved them wrong, 'cause they still going strong and Amy Lee is a musical powerhouse! They reworked a bunch of their older songs on a more recent album called 'Synthesis', and worked with a full orchestra - the new version of this is just beautiful.

She's a classical pianist & song writer, but as a woman rock singer I put her just underneath someone like Freddie Mercury because she's absolutely fabulous on the piano, and then she's a rocker chick with this fabulous goddess voice!! You should check out some of the Band's live performances and watch her perform and play the piano. She's an extraordinary pianist! I think in one of their videos it shows her playing the piano but she's a classical pianist and she was doing that long before she ever got into rock.
