      Which killed alot of bands but not kiss. That was pure genius 😁👍🏼

    You have now been introduced to The Beast (Gene Simmons - Bass), The Star Child (Paul Stanley - Vocals, Guitar), The Cat (Peter Criss - Drums), and The Space Man (Ace Frehley - Lead Guitar). KISS is one of the most singular bands EVER! I was a kid when they were just hitting it big in the seventies. This song was their only real radio hit (until "Lick It Up" in the 80s), and it was almost considered a "disco song" and kinda pissed off the hard-core KISS Army fans. Fun facts: As a singer, Paul Stanley is an oddity as he is deaf in one ear. Gene Simmons was born in Israel and is the marketing genius behind the band (which is probably one of the wealthiest bands in the merch alone). They are the only two members of the band who have been there the whole time, and they are best friends. Paul Stanley once played the Phantom of the Opera in Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary stage musical in Toronto. The band was paranoid about being seen or photographed without the make-up, and it wasn't until the 80s (the time of "Lick It Up") that they didn't perform without the make-up. They went back to the make-up in the late 90s. Gene Simmons made a few movies as an actor, but he was never very successful with acting. During their early touring in the seventies, they were frequently on the same bill with RUSH. In fact, while KISS was always crazy backstage and RUSH was kinda boring, the two bands have only ever had warm and excellent things to say about each other because they became friends while on the road. "Beth", "God Gave Rock and Roll To You", "Love Gun", "Sure Know Something", and "Rock and Roll All Night" are some of their best songs. My personal favorite version of this song was during their Australian tour in the early 2000s when they had the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra onstage with them. 'KISS Symphony: Alive IV' is an amazing album...and their rendition of this, with a full 110 piece symphony orchestra is pretty breathtaking!

    • @TremereTT
      @TremereTT 2 года назад +1

      The song wasn't "Allmost" sonsidered to be a disco song! It was the product of a self imposed challange. When Kiss' new producer asked them, "to go deep in side of them to find material for disco song" Paul Stanley laughed at him and claimed "Writing a disco song is EASY compared to a rock song". He leaft the studio and met Desmonds child on the way out and asked him if he has a few minutes of time left to co-write a Disco song for Kiss, just for fun. Two days laiter they produced the song in the studio and Simmons hated to be forced to sing stupid shit like "doo doo doo doo doo doo doo" ....and that became their most successfull song....lol
      Make something suitable to listen too by even the dumbest person and you get a world hit record.

      Co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are the masterminds behind the group 90% of the songwriting is split between them. Yes Gene has taking over the marketing after Bill Ocoin their first manager started it. But Paul came up with the name KISS and kept the band alive during the non makeup years. Gene was busy with his side projects. Finding new bands managing new bands acting etc. He was phoning in his contributions to the band at that time.

    Now KISS, is definately, a "one of a kind" band!!! One of my brothers use to REALLY be into them when he was a teenager (born early 60's) & let me tell u, he could DRAW HIS BUTT...... OFF!!!!! He would draw all the Kiss members, TO THE TEE; costumes, face paint, those cool crazy boots, ALL OF IT, from head to toe. My point is, does it look like it would be EASY to draw them?! Not at all, NOT AT ALL! Then again, he's left handed, so many left handed ppl draw very well. (automatic cheat) Lol... They actually hav a nice slow ballad called "Beth". It's really good...

    I saw Kiss just last summer, and they have the most fun live show!! The "people-watching" at their show is great too, so many fans dress up like them, faces and everything!! Try listening to Beth, if you're in the mood for their one ballad.

      My first concert in 1978. I was twelve. Lol! Montreal forum, montreal Canada. My dad lived in a highrise directly across a narrow side street from the Montreal forum building! I had never heard their music and somehow ended up at their concert with my sister and two other teenagers. It was such an amazing concert and show. Every single song was epic. We had seats way up near the sky. but it was inconsequential the energy was throughout the entire venue. Then we saw gene simmons flying by in front of us, on wires or a platform, up close! Lol. Such an amazing time. I'm going to see them on August 29th here in Atlanta georgia. Great tickets for a little more than $100. Prices start at $39 for the back lawn, $89-99 for intermediate sections. And $120-$1000 for the three front sections in front of the stage. Their final tour, and David Lee Roth is also touring with them!

    I was never a big fan of KISS, but they do have quite a few really good songs.
    Gene Simmons' wife is from my home city, and they regularly visited her parents here. It was not unusual to see the couple at the movie theater, or out and about, they got to live like regular folk here, not worry about being accosted by fans etc.
    Sadly, her mom passed on in the last year, I dont know if they have any more connections here to come to.

    Saw them June 1979 in Lakeland, FL. This was the same arena Ace Frehley (lead guitar) was almost electrocuted in 1976 during a show. I was 12 years old & my boyfriend's stoner parents actually passed me a joint (I declined.) Totally blew my mind! Both the show & the parents. Memories!

    KISS were absolutely huge between 1977 and the early 80s. Their shows were setting the new standard for Rock Arenas:: explosions, fire, rising platforms, the band name in lights spanned fifty feet across the backdrop. Now this stuff is normal. And yes, they were really a pop rock band, writing crowd pleasers and feel-good, four chord arrangements. Some criticized them for being too "corporate", always with a winning market strategy. But, when you revisit them, it's like, damn!! There's another banger.
    Detroit Rock City still towers above everything else they did, that was the jewel. I highly recommend it.

    They were a band for the times, for sure. My parents would not let me go to their shows, but I did buy a few of their albums. Kiss Alive II, was double lp set and kind of a big deal. I remember it came with a set of temp. tattoos. Beth, Detroit Rock City, RocknRoll All Night played loud at the roller rink. I also remember the big hype build-up to them revealing themselves without the make up. Unmasked, for me, didnt really live up to the hype, but still mad love for this band, as it brings back cherished coming of age memories ❤
