@@sirmonkey1985 I've seen him get I to a bunch of stuff and been fast out the gate. The dirt late model at Bristol impressed me the most honestly, those things are rowdy as hell. The super truck stuff is cool you have to understand Nashville is really fast, and corner speed is something he isn't quite there yet. Only way to really drive it to it's limits is with seat time. He can drive just needs more seat time

He's gotta get a little more aggressive, guys were pushing him around and he was letting it happen. Great driving, just don't let assholes push ya around. You cant just give a guy room underneath or above you like that, and if they give it to you, take it.
Dude is for sure gonna get beat up by another driver when he gets older if he keeps racing like this. Obviously no-one is gonna do anything to a little kid but he will probably be in for a surprise once he gets older.
Yeah seriously. Pushing people around isn't how you race. And if he really didn't have breaks, thats when you pull over and call it. (which it was obvious that he had brakes, you don't just coast from 150mph into a sharp turn....locking up the tires 🤔) Putting yourself in danger as well as everyone else because you want points is a good way to end someones career/life. Max is a perfect example of nepotism and why maturity matters in key aspects of life. He doesn't belong in a professional sport like this until he learns how to behave like an adult.
True. Age has nothing to do with it. I remember Jeff Gordon racing USAC sprints as a teen, and you wouldnt know how old he was just from watching him race. He was serious about what he was doing, because screwing up in open wheel sprints could get you or the guy next to you seriously hurt. Max is not serious. These trucks are basically built for pro-wrestling on wheels, and he treats them as such.
This, imo they should have penalized him even if there was some doubt about what he did since his dad created the series, just to be sure there was no favoritism involved. And to show everyone that they wouldn't tolerate shit. As it stands, he was reckless in the race, screwed up a bunch of people and looks like nothing will happen to him. And I'm not sure it would be the same if it was another driver...
Don't blame it all on Max. His car seat was strapped into a race vehicle when he was a couple of years old. He ran the Baja 1000 when he was 10. He's in the family business. His dad doesn't like losing either. None of those guys do. He's not quite Mike Skinner who said he'd wreck his grandmother to win a race yet... And as much as Robby will hate the announcers calling out Max's driving, he hates having to pay to fix all the damages more. He'll get spoken to about it. Max is still a kid. He's not afraid of racing like that because he's done it all his life. Probably hasn't seen anyone get really f'd up in a crash.

It's been going on for years. it was very popular. but it does get a bit stale after a while. been to more than 10 or 12 races and the first couple of events were awesome. your attitude towards racing is absolutely amazing. i would not be able to walk away from a race like that without trying to throw hands with some of those guys in the pits after some of those moves.
Yeah there was some desperation in that pack towards the end. Max tried a crazy pass when he saw a gap but it wasn't worth it and he went so deep attempting that as cleet was hitting the apex he hit cleet and was up his butt for quite some time. He tried passing similarly again and it ended up flipping a guy. Max was definitely desperate to climb up and luckily it got him a podium but people are definitely side eyeing him now so he's going to have to race a little cautious next time. If he races like that too much it'll put a mark on his reputation and reputation sells tickets and gets you in races so it's a little important. He's quick racer though so that helps. He's gotta be careful because his dad owns the series and people won't show up to race if they know max dad will cut him slack when he rams too much. I'm not going to hate on max or his dad tbh because they own the series 😂 and he's 13 and I'm 23. I'm going to assume it just wasn't the 13 year olds best podium because he had to do some really messy passes to get it and it seems like he's well aware of that based on how he said "it's horrible" after his podium speech. He knows he got the podium but had some real bad aspects to his race. Which is good because at least he's not tone deaf like a lot of 13 year olds can be. The kids 13 and he's gotta learn from mistakes just like everyone else if he's going to sharpen his iron so he's a faster cleaner racer by the time he hits his prime for maximum effectiveness on the track. Plus there was a dense pack that was all bumping into each other, so I'm not going to nitpick maxes every contact because people were bumping into max too, but max did get stuck in cleetus back end pretty bad too, right before he flipped that guy trying to pass him literally on the apex where it's basically impossible to pass unless you ram and flip whoever is on the apex 😂 definitely wasn't clean but hopefully he can grow up and keep pushing that aggressiveness without getting in so many accidents because I'm sure it'll help his data as the years pass and he gets closer to his prime and gets his skills even more finely tuned. I'd hate to see mad Max turn into mad max because he races like it's GTA rather than just being a fast racer, which we know he is. He won the he last race and didn't flip anyone we can't deny it. He's definitely fast enough he doesn't have to flip people to get to the podium when he's not far back in the pack and has to muscle his way though just to have the chance at 3rd if he flips someone and someone else tire pops up ahead. Cleet was racing pretty clean along side that guy who was passing him until he got put in the wall and popped a tire, but I don't think any of that. The 1st and 2nd were pretty clean racers too
30 years ago all my friends and I wanted in life was to do Donuts and win drag races with the horns 🤘 out the window. This man living our dreams all these years later. Respect.
5:14 THAT was a great move!! Cleetus certainly isn't afraid to drive in deep! Unfortunate Cleetus ended up with a flat. It's just hard racing and no one is really to blame for it. Stout had the position and might of thought Cleetus backed out a bit to let him by and Cleetus probably should of done that, but Stout should of also not assumed Cleetus backed out and should of gone wider through the corner. But we all know how competitive Cleetus is and he probably didn't want to give up the position. Not sure Cleetus had the truck to finish in the top 3 but who knows how it would of played out.
So let me get this straight, Max rams everyone he can, tore up Garretts truck, then makes another one roll, yet he's still allowed to race because of who his dad is? that's just wrong.
@@jesse6779 Also would make sense! Probably lends a tremendous since of entitlement to the kid. (And I’d guess also probably the dad too, with him being the owner/founder and all…) lol of course that’s just me making assumptions, but chances are that it’s most likely the case indeed. Lol If it is, then ima just add that entitled people (SPECIALLY when it’s a parent/kid combo!) have to be one of (if not THE) most unlikable types of people for me.
You really did drive a hell of a race man, even the announcer was taken back by how well you did. Look at what you from where you started with Leroy. You’ll get it! Collect knowledge then capitalize when you and the truck are ready!!!! Hell yea!
First couple laps, Cleetus struggled through the three tight turns before coming up the hill onto the bridge, just didn't carry enough speed and got passed up on the bridge. However, he was real strong running into the the first corner off straights and passed there (fairly cleanly too). Then after a few laps he stopped getting passed on the bridge return. The very quick learning of the parts he struggled with early on was really cool to see.
@@JamesEsau Yeah, thats enough of a barrier to protect him til it isn't, him driving like that is a ticking time bomb before someone sends him into a wall or just beats his ass regardless of if hes a kid. Cuz the way hes driving is for SURE fighting words lmfao.
The flipp was intentional, clear as day, and he tried to do the same to cleet earlier but failed that time. He waits till the inner tire is in the air and then tries to get under the opponent and push. That's just nasty.
Ask Matt Mingay about the SST series. He got very seriously Hurt in roll over like this one. I can't understand that they have not done anything to the trucks around the windshield area. There need to be more shielding for the driver from things coming into the cab of the truck. It took Matt over 4 years in rehab to even get His racing licence back. The Man is a beast, He did a lot of hard work in rehab just to be able to walk and talk again. These trucks are fun as entertainment, But they need to be a lot safer imho.
Listen man it was some crazy racing tbh. Max was diving into the apex from a hell of an acute angle and was trying to pass someone who was already up against the apex, who was cleet. Then cleet got walled because it's like stout forgot cleet was literally right along side him, or he knew cleet would have no choice but to slow down or get walled. Ends up their wheels got tangled and it seemed like after that cleet pooping a tire was inevitable. Then After that max tried to pass stout while he was already on the apex and Max scraped him right off and flipped him upside down 😂 not to mention max had a hell of a time trying to fight through that pack that was playing bumper cars which he was basically at the center of. I think this track they have a hard time passing except on the straights and the trucks are very similar in speed so often it comes down to how you tackle the corners to get a chance to pass. These chances are slim and so max was making a chance to pass where it didn't exist a couple times and it cost him a knick to his reputation, but he's also 13 so hopefully as he gets closer to his prime he gets better at these on the fly judgement calls. Sometimes it's better to accept 4th place if it means people won't be side eyeing you suspicious of if you're intentionally trying to cause accidents to get opportunities to pass. I don't think that was maxes intentions, I just think Max is young and he's trying to push the limits and taking opportunities that aren't worth it just because he's desperate to gain positions. Sometimes I'm sure it works, sometimes it costs him. We got to see twice in 1 race where it failed him. He tried to pass cleet by going into the apex when he shouldn't have and got stuck in cleetus back end and then dropped back a couple positions and had to climb them again to get to stout where he tried to pass him the same way he did cleet and ended up flipping him. Kinda sad to see but he's 13 so I'm sure when he's 20 his ability to make better judgement will work and he will be able to not ram people just to fall back and have to climb again just to ram people again and get lucky enough he didn't have to fall back and get lucky enough to have someone pop a tire so he made it to 3rd. if cleets tire didn't pop and he didn't flip that guy he would'nt have made podium I think. I'm still glad he podiumed because a win is a win but also you could tell he was nervous because it didn't look good how he gained positions. He even said "it's terrible" when he walked of the stage. think he knows a little better thinking would've helped him in this race

If you keep up with the sport you’ll learn if he can’t pass you, he will wreck you.
Goddamn that was a sketchy pass attempt, pretty much the reason both of you wrecked. Keep your head up cleet you got this truck racing

I'm surprised he hasn't gotten the computer out and tried to squeeze as much horsepower out of that engine as possible
Its up to the overtaking racer to overtake safely, he did not. Cleetus has absolutely no blame in this one.

However, he was real strong running into the the first corner off straights and passed there (fairly cleanly too). Then after a few laps he stopped getting passed on the bridge return.
Stout ran you right into the wall while you were giving him a ton of room. That was dirty
I don't think that was intentional. Stout clearly was in front, Cleet should have let him by through the turn. Definitely not room there for two wide.
That Max kid needs to learn some respect before he hurt someone
Or they hurt him
Listen man it was some crazy racing tbh.
@@TheAnnoyingBoss LOL no he's very disrespectful and has a bad temper driving like his father and this ain't the first race he's done that it's all the races
@@dodge450r3 I'm going to have to witness more of this evidence personally before I'll believe it. I learned my lesson believing rumors about trump that I never saw with my own two eyes that ended up not being true also. The other race I saw with him there wasn't much bad that happened If I remember correctly. Those are the only two races I've seen from the kid and only one had questionable tactics. So I'll need more evidence before I'll believe he's the person you say he is tbh. Even if he is I can't risk it. I learned my lesson believing rumors about people I've never actually been around tbh
You'd think Cleetus won with all the donuts. That's awesome!
And that's why we love him.
So, so fun to watch this. Big time holding my breath for ya Garrett. Proud of how well you performed. Related: Max Gordon needs to removed from the series. He's literally a danger to the other drivers. Let him return when he's grown up.
I think Cleeter stunk up the show in his first outing so that gave him a little less power this time. Can't beat the experienced pros your first time out with a little payback.
^^^ scammer ^^^
Definitely less power in that unit than last time sounds like they didn’t like getting shown up by a new guy
bouncing the motor off the rev limiter for 45 seconds just for funsies isnt going to help anything
It’s only fair because Cleetus’s last truck was faster than everyone else’s lol.
Cleet really is a master driver, he's gotta have 10,000 hours behind the wheel of hundreds of cars with hundreds of types of racing and he constantly gets feedback on how he's doing as well as improves on weak points. That's master level. Also max is a spoiled rich kid with daddy's money and someone needs to slap him across the face.
Man I love watching him race anything lol this guy just jumps on whatever you got and fucking sends it lol he's a living legend
Cleetus is literally a natural at anything with an engine 💪🏾
so is Max immune to penalties since daddy owns the show ? kid needs to wind his neck in with a couple races in the sin bin . he's playing bumper cars while everybody else is racing. Better believe if somebody flipped him they'd be reprimanded.
yep
Robbie Gordon's so afraid of Cletus he gives him a broken under powered truck! This racing would so much better if the Gordon's didn't make it so his kid had somewhere to race!!!! Pay to play racing!
I think it would be cool if there was a 360 cam in the truck and Cleetus posted a extra video of just that and we could watch in VR
Cleeter's the widest truck ever god dam welldone man.
man..... nothing gets me shouting at the tv more than watching you race stadium trucks!!!!
I love that hes recognized as cleetus McFarland and not even his real name
