sucks about the truck, but I love how Cleetus is reaching for the kill switch while sliding mid-wreck. This was clearly caused by the oil down. Hit the oil in that turn when I got on the gas and my back end slid out into Cleetus. Tried to make a clean (but albeit aggressive) pass and after initial contact it just got progressively worse. Total accident, but I still feel super bad. I promise I'm not a historically dirty driver guys 😂 Not intentional because Cletus has been super cool to me since I met him in Long Beach.
Wasn’t so much you as the guy behind Cleetus that pushed through him. Seems like he could have reacted in time. Out of curiosity, did you know the oil was there on the previous laps?
Very frustrating but understandable. Max on the other hand has a target on his back for sure. Perhaps after what he did last race is why he wasn't in this one??? Kids laying low staying out of the light.
Keep your head up kid. If you and Cleetus are cool, none of our opinions matter much. Truth be told, I'd bet a few lessons for the future were learned on all sides. It's racing buddy, have fun with it. God bless ya
After watching the second time through I could see what happened. You were aggressively passing, but that's what you have to do on that track. Cleeter did a few fairly aggressive passes yesterday that I was a little surprised with. It's obvious you hit that slickened track that got your back end over into Cleetus and the rest was the two of you trying to come out of it. An inch one way or another and it easily coulda been you on your side instead. Like Cleetus said at the end of the video, was aggressive but well within sportsmanly behavior, especially picking up the tab that night. All's well. Was great fun watching you both, on the track and off.
That was the most exciting racing I've seen though. Love these little trucks. Great bunch of guys. Gavin seems like an awesome person and evidently one hell of a driver to win after that.
Glad to see the sportsmanship in all of your racing. Always great content and a great attitude in general. Hopefully kids watching this will want to be like you Cleet'!
We're all just glad youre okay brother. Thanks for running this series. I've never seen any racing like this until you introduced us to it. This is awesome!

A bad break. Cleetus was driving the stink out of that thing until the oil patch. Gavin was pushing hard to pass and hit the oil and skated right into him. Truck took a beating. Glad Cleetus was ok. Massive crash.
Gavin knew what was on that corner and used cleetus's truck as the wall!! Looked fully intentional, your faster than me I'm just gonna drive you into the wall...
No one else sliding about... Then after he hits you he continues to power on and come back and hit you again, rolling you. I call bs it was accidental after you shrugged him off just before it, he was coming back with a vengeance.
Cleetus, never would I have thought that you would be such a good all-around freaking OPERATOR when I first started watching you. Your a threat to them!!!!
The time constraints seems to be the real issue here. Being such a long track, with cameras at every corner. Certainly someone mentioned the oil in that corner before the wreck. It wasn't until Cleetus mentioned it during the red flag that they put speedy dry down to clean it up. If you watched the stream, the very next lap that they come through the same corner, you can see all of the speedy dry being kicked up into the air. I don't blame the drivers at all, being aggressive is part of racing. This was mistake made by track officials(if they have those) by not cleaning it up sooner. Tough break, but I hope you reach your goal of finishing your first at Bristol and can't wait to see the live action!
Yep, they were in a hurry and didn't want to clean it up. Ol Cleeter hit the wall the first lap after the caution because the track was oiled. But it was clear they were jamming this series in this weekend.
Wasn't there indy cars on the same circuit prior to this race? Somehow I bet the oil would have been cleaned up immediately and enthusiastically the very second tyhe last car ran through it....
So impressive how you can get in ANY car, truck, boat, whatever and drive like you've been doing it forever. I love to watch you race. You have a heart of gold brother. Love you Cleetus.

Intentional no. But Complete bonehead race awareness by the black truck pushing it that much in that corner knowing the oil was there yes (they all knew it was there)

Well yeah you can see cleets truck hop across the oil sideways which took all his speed, old mate tried to take advantage as you would and the slick spat him into cleet.

It's a race, no shit its gonna be aggressive. If you were paying attention you would have noticed 55 wasn't the only one to get loose in that corner because of all the oil
I'm not seeing any hate here...? I'm just seeing a professional automotive sport in it's natural form and I don't see other drivers slamming Garrett?? Am I missing something?
Hey Cleet, damn good driving brother! You've got heart! Yesterday was the first I've seen of this racing, and you had my adrenaline pumping! 20 years ago in SCCA racing I had a hard time finishing races too. It'll come. Just remember that it's most competitive out in front.
I bet the wifey was thrilled about that one.. I didn't see the incident in the turn at 9:40 before the 55 got into you until now... I think the 55 came in a little hot but that corner was slick too and took out Max lap 1 (deservedly).. Ultimately those huge 37" tires driving up on each other and the wall is what caused you to roll.
It's not open wheel racing but yeah, when the tin foil peels back from the "body" around the tires, those big 37's have so much momentum that they are gonna climb whatever is near. You can see the momentum from those tires give the final push over and on the side. It reminded me of an old school gyroscope.. spinning then suddenly tossed on its side.. just in a matter of seconds in that tight, oiled down corner.
That oily spot is what did it. You could see that other truck just slide left as soon as he got back on the throttle. Tough break, but, you'll have that on those big jobs.
so I guess they don't have flags to let people know about oil on the track and if they don't but knew the oil was there why didn't they show the yellow flag for just that corner until they could get it cleaned up a tad . :)
@@adrianrice354 It’s 9 laps of balls to the wall racing, ain’t nobody got time to clean up slick spots. Winning cures everything and winners do whatever they want.
Slow it down and watch the oil spot cleetus points out and rubs his foot on. You can see the rear kick out and take the lateral momentum of the other truck right into cleetus. You can also see cleetus wash out wide when he hits the oil/fluid spill as well.
Looked like Gavin hit the oil on the track and the ass end of his truck was coming around and bumped Cleetus, which sent him up the wall. Nothing to do but hold on and see what plays out. Rubbing is racing, but when you got big tires, and close racing. You have monster truck action going on in a crash with these truck.

Going back on it the corner he blew through is the one that was completely oiled down
Watch lap one, that corner was slick and took out Max Gordon as he flew into the wall. You can see the 55's ass end slide out a bit and the when he popped of Cleet he was point at the wall, he corrected and those big tires pushed him into Cleetus, unlike other incidents this weekend, this one was a racing incident.
@@garretthoefer3989 agree. That kid raced an extremely clean race the day before and he had plenty of chances to put the winner of race 1 in the wall and didn’t. He definitely hit that slick spot. I don’t blame him at all he is a very clean and capable racer.
@@garretthoefer3989 I completely understand that, they’re racing hard out there. But it’s like he said, it was only lap 4, not the final lap. sucks about the truck, but I love how Cleetus is reaching for the kill switch while sliding mid-wreck. This was clearly caused by the oil down. VP trucks tail got loose on oil and sent him straight into Fun Haver, the rest was just chain reaction. I think the sport is making a great publicity move by bringing Cleetus in and getting him to the front of the pack early. The exposure that he brings can revive just about any sport, especially with live action like this.

Oof I don't think these guys are listening to Cleetus because you're getting a little beat up in these comments dude 😂

@@jasonpetrich4141 I agree the other guy knew the oil was there, trying to pass like that there it’s poor driving at the least

I agree. also the reaction time to get out to the crash concerns me.

@@danmyers9372 uh-huh
It's not open wheel racing but yeah, when the tin foil peels back from the "body" around the tires, those big 37's have so much momentum that they are gonna climb whatever is near. It reminded me of an old school gyroscope.. spinning then suddenly tossed on its side.. just in a matter of seconds in that tight, oiled down corner.
