The first time I came to the Philippines, I came to Davao, that was in 2010 I met my girlfriend who is from there and I absolutely had the best time, you can’t see Davao on your own, you need a guide you need a girl that’s local and knows all the good spots because the place is beautiful if you go to the right areas, I went up in the mountains and went to a resort up there, to a Filipino resort if you know much about the Filipino, it’s not like western but it has a big pool. Everyone goes there for BBQ and Karaoke and as I said I had the best time ever, and it was my first introduction to the Philippines.
    That was 14 years ago.
Mate if you don’t go away from the Philippines with memories that make you want to go back, there’s something wrong with you lol

Hi Esquire. I first went to Davao in 1991, married a girl from there and lived there for many years, off and on. The reason the city is secure is from the efforts of long time mayor and ex president Rody Deterte cracking down on insurgents. You have seen Task Force Davao soldiers all over the place. When you go to Samal Island, they are at the ferry terminals. The reason you were checked going into San Pedro Cathedral was in 1993 some bad guys rolled grenades down the centre aisle killing and wounding many. That is why Davao is declared the safest city in the Philippines. Oh, by the way, there are hundreds of foreigners living in Davao. They come out into the shopping malls, SM, Abreeza or Gaisano Mall. Have a good time in my favourite place. I live in Hervey Bay Queensland.

GREAT place to live, eat, have fun and explore! Not much in the night life craziness as angeles and manila can provide though. I lived there for many years and plan to go back soon!
Check out Matina Town Square at night, and San Pedro street. Great live music and foods all around. Also, visit Roxas Night Market, tons of great food at a good price, tons of people too! If you've a mind for it, visit magsasay park and eat some durian lol.
Check out the museums as well.
Lastly, they have various water parks in davao, check them out! And before you go, check out Samal Island, can take a ferry from Santa Ana wharf. Or take smaller boats to different resorts there (go to paradise resort, good beach to hang out at and good food too).
    God bless, brother!

Its been since 2019. The pandemic messed up our plans then I opened a business and I should have got her before I opened the business but I think I didn't because of the crazy covid policy and a sh*t I did not want in my body. So here we are, it will be over 5 years when I finally arrive.

    LJ,
Hey Esquire where's all the chicks LMFO . Mate I almost fell off my chair.
From wanting to go to Chinatown and ends up in a department store, man and getting treated like a rock star vibe, sounds like this adventure is going to be entertaining.
Funny you're talking about ladies well educated and ambitious. Well I met one just yesterday from Manila via phone support for my internet. She kept me engaged with all kinds of conversation. When she called me back about 7 hours later to check up on my tech issue, once again we're chatting up a storm. Awesome. Never had that happen ever with customer service help. Personally in my mind she was beautiful.
LJ you talk about experiences and immersing oneself with local culture...your bang on mate.
In Winnie the Pooh they say " We are making memories "
Cheers and I look forward to all the vlogs from the Philippines. 🇨🇦

I just came across your channel. My wife is from DAVAO. I found her online in '10. We cyber-dated for four years until I went to marry her there in '14. I had to leave her there for a year and half before I was able to bring her back in 2016. We went back for a visit in 2019 and in 2023. We will be back again in 2025. I wish I could stay there for longer periods of time because I just can't get enough of the PHILIPPINES and I absolutely love DAVAO. Lots to do there. There are tons of great restaurants there but I will highly recommend THE MANGROVES on the COASTAL ROAD near PUNTA DUMALAG RD in t he MATINA APLAYA area. It is an beautiful outdoor restaurant with great food right by the ocean. One more thing, you need to a nice sweet Filipina to show you around and keep you from being taxed by you light skin.

Welcome to Davao! Been here 5 years and I will be returned to the US to prepare for my wife's immigration in September! I expect we will be returning in a few years. I am pretty sure Momma Fe will miss friends and family. (I married a lady close to my own age so she wants to finish her lifelong career).
If you are in for a longer stay, self exploration is a blast! But if your time is limited, there are great tourist guides available!
Just remember, never drink tap water or you might spend a couple days strapped to a throne! Bottle water only! 😂 Or beer if that floats your boat!

Gday mate, Im now traveling and shooting with 2 cameras. My trusty old CanonM50 which I used at the start and then I switched to the more discreet DJI Pocket3. Still adjusting to the Pocket3. I hope the quality was ok. Thanks for watching
