KongTrongChingChong Squid won't answer questions: *I* think it looks like very HQ/HD Fishing Line or "Musical Instrument String" perhaps he's using but Any very Thin, STRONG line/wire should do - Fence Wire or Lock Line would be easiest to get. Main concern is the obvious; Damaging whichever side of the glass is the good side. *This* method he's showing (for 17 goddamn minutes) could/would be significantly quicker & less effort using better tools + chemicals. Obviously use a "Window Sticker Scraper" with a good wide blade for Cars instead of choppin up lines with your single disposable razor blade. Rubbing Alcohol to further speed up that glue nonsense.
Looking at this one things is obvious... even if the heatgun doesn't damage the LCD, you'll be left with panel with residual glue but no way of removing it as it is on plastic. On glass you could try different chemicals like alcohol, gasoline, cooking oil, silicon oil - one of them usually works depending on the type of the glue, problem is it's on a plastic layer of the LCD which will not survive most of these chemicals. (if you have new glass and figure out the glue just replace and hope it will become homogeneous and clear once you put new glass with glue on it...)
That looks like a lot of work. There is no way you could get that clean enough to use again. This glass is so fragile. The LED panel itself would be scratched to all hell.
Very poor posting. Looks very unsafe. First off, putting that heat gun on top of the screen while working on the screen. Secondly, that long spatula looks like it could puncture the retina LED. Third, no explanation via audio, or text. And utterly cluttered workbench. Finally, if this process works, that would be a marvel. I have a bout 10 of these broken glasses, with good retina screen. I am trying to find a way to separate the glass from the display and then replace the glass.
i have replaced the broken glass on many imac retina this way. transplanting glass from failed lcd to a good lcd. works well.
how do you clean the lcd panel from glue?
how did you manage to remove the lcd from the glass?

But how did you then glue it back together? Normally they use glue and vaccum chamber to remove any bubbles. How did you attach glass back to LCD?
Did you manage to fix it with new glass?
What kind of wire did you use to slide between and seperate the panels?

How do you remove the cracked glass from the working screen? With a heat gun? Won't that damage the screen when removing?
same question, Glass Broken, Screen working perfect....

One more thing. What is his objective? to harvest the glass, or the retina LED?
harvest the glass.
was hoping to find a video how to replace cracked glass on a good lcd but guess this is the same process and a lcd wouldnt survive this

disagree , use correct glue removal like 8333 or 9666 like we do on lcd will come right in clean room with no dust
Anh ơi, màn hình em không sao mà miếng kính bị bể. Anh nghĩ làm cách nào để thay miếng kính thôi? Thổi hơi nóng để tách ra có hư màn hình luôn không?

Did you find a working way?
The solution is don't buy Apples.
