Mindblowing how Big Boss is able to keep track of all tiny screws and parts while he‘s assembling and disassembling so much stuff each day. I lose track already while having two devices 🤯 maybe you can show us his secret techniques?
It is easy have a container like an ice box, whenever you remove screws put them in cell then put the next in next cell Now when assembling goin in reverse, the last cell got device current screws The idea ; have some aiding tools and processes
I've got $2.00 that says that scorched Filter is actually bad. That burn did not come from no where. (I have a decent understanding of what you are doing with a Meter, I graduated from Coleman College with a Cert. for Computer and Electronic repair, but that was many Moons ago and with not finding a Job in that Industry I followed the Family Practice in Auto Repair.) I have used those skills to excel in Automotive Electrical Diagnostics. Yesterday, (just by chance) had a 2015 Ford Escape towed in for No Start after Vehicle was warm. When Vehicle acted up, Key on, all Dash Lights came on and performed Bulb check like normal. I noticed that after depressing the Brake Pedal to start, they all started to Flicker and totally shut off when you tried to Crank the Engine over. One of the 50 amp Midi Fuses in the High Current Battery Junction Box was not Blown but most likely had a non visible Hair Line crack. Using a Meter, it tested absolutely good. If i would have gone off of Meter readings, I would still be trying to figure it out. (Not sure how you could do it except for testing with power on and loading a circuit while live). It is Called Voltage Drop. A basic Incandescent Test light is a low amperage test. Sometimes I use Headlight Bulbs as a higher Loaded test to find faults in Circuits. In this case, Basic Test light was Bright with Key off. It dimmed a bit with Key On and go completely out when hitting the Brake Pedal or trying to Start. Back to Key off, use a High Beam Headlight bulb as the test, get a spark on initial Probe touch but Bulb would not Light up. Long Story short, Meter's can be miss leading a lot of the time. This 50 amp Fuse was only capable of passing roughly 8 amps of current until it would go Open without actually being Blown.
Thx for your time and efforts you make in all your videos. It really helps all the viewers and sharpen the technicians brains. Keep up the good brother and may the creator bless you more.

I asked the local "fruit" tech and they couldn't figured out anything, recommend me to buy new motherboard which costs almost the same as it is. I hope you will find the problem (which always will), and I'll follow your steps, oh great Guru and the good Big Boss.
If its the retina model. It is most likely the soldering around the Maxim GMUX chip. If it is this chip, you will not have any display even if you shine a torch at it.
Maybe there is a burn trace under the inductor with a burn mark. If inductor is ok, this burn mark had to be come from something. You can also measure the backlight voltage, although I do not thing it is a problem
I love these videos. I need to post more of my solder work with customers! You're great at editing all of these on top of your master skill at fixing!!
I like the way u used the multimeter to check if the fuses etc are working or not. Can i use a multimeter in some way to find out if a 2010 iMac gpu board or chip is faulty or not?
Here's hoping you make another video on this particular repair, I would like to see what the problem with it is, because I was also expecting it to work after you found the blown fuse.
These repair videos are priceless, it's the future. The "throw away" mentality needs to stop. Right now Europe is going through an unprecedented heat wave, climate change is real.
Very great and interesting video. Maybe you should change that resistor opposite the fuse you have changed because of the burn mark. This burn mark have to be from that component cause there is no other one nearby. I hope you can fix it and do a second part of this problem. Thank you for the video. Greets
That burnt component tho - maybe when its getting power its failing - even though its testing ok. I would swap that out as you have a donor board to hand.
i agree... and it looks like an inductor... so maybe its inductance is messed up although it still measures as a short but it isnt acting as a coil correctly
Were you ever able to fix this iMac? I had a 2019 where I replaced the HDD with an SSD and after reconnecting the screen, I got no video. LED5 would never light up. As always, your videos are very informative.
Hi Alex, That second burnt mark might be your clue to as why no video. The fuse you replaced was only for the backlight. Perhaps there is another fuse for the video component. Hope you fix it. Thx

Well, fuses are an additinal layer of safety, so that if a component fails, and there's no ocp, it doesn't catch on fire. And although sometimes, replacing a fuse can fix the issue, you have to ask yourself why it blew in the first place. Similar story goes for low value resistors, he has a video of replacing a blown 10ohm resistor, which blew up as soon as the board was powered on again.
@@tripsix2186 it's my friends dads he opened it and had a go at replacing his broken touch glass but now no picture he has probably damaged a filter when he removed the connectors I'm amazed it still has backlight though

Why Mac doesn't have mark on board?
So fuses on an Apple board can actually blow, instead of connectors and mosfets.
yes, so from this we may have some avenue of troubleshooting. Generally apple fuses don't blow so if they do maybe they point to something repairable.
