    the part that impressed me was that it appears you purposefully avoided and actual guitar parts. the only this on it is the strings. you used mainly hand tools and what is clearly scrap wood and a cigar box. very well done!

    Nice guitar, just wish you would have given the same attention to close up camera work attaching the strings to the eyelets, but good job on the guitar. Really, very nice.

      I made a banjo out of a cakepan, some cheap wood and with bbq skewers as frets. Feels like shit, sounds like Shit, but was a fun build.

    Please reply😊

    How did you attach the Peizo? Is it just in there loose? What's the purpose of the yellow tape under the lid?

    • @MerwinMusic
      @MerwinMusic  2 года назад

      The yellow tape is like big electrical tape, it's actually gym floor tape. I just taped the piezo down temporarily so that I could experiment with placement. Once you know where you want it hot lgue is probably the best option to stick it there for good.

    Nice but not every one has the use of a shed, and a vice, and we're all not as proficient with tools and skills as this fella, I would rather hear instructions, watch it over 6 episodes,, repetition in this case would be key

      17.817 this is the dividing number to use when aquiring fret spacing.. from the center of the nut to the center of the bridge= is commonly called the scale.. ok. are you ready ? to find the placement of the 1st fret (to avoid confusion, lets use my CBG scale ,its 25) divide 25" by the magic number i gave earlier- 17.817. my calculator reads 1.4031542 , this will be the distance(in inches) from the center of the nut to the center of the 1st fret. not too hard. now to get the 2nd fret, measure from the center of the 1st fret to the center of the bridge & divide by the magic number 17.817. again my calculator reads 1.3244006". this will be the distance from the center of the 1st fret to the center of the 2nd fret.. not really hard, just long division & careful measuring. i hope you see a pattern forming bc this is a lot of typing, lol. ok, ready ? the distance(in inches) from the center of the 2nd fret to the center of the bridge should be divided by the magic number 17.817. and the answer you get will be the distance (in inches) from the center of the 2nd fret to the center of the 3rd fret. measure 3rd fret to bridge, div. by magic # , answer is distance from 3rd to 4th. measure 4th to bridge, div. by magic# , answer is from 4th to 5th. i hope this wasnt to confusing & it helps. for 3string CBG's i make 1.5" wide necks. i make my scarf joints using 13° & i like to use at least 1 dowel to help support the joint. i like to make my bridge be 2.5" from the back of cigar box on all CBG's, the neck-thru & the neck stopped inside box. i like to make a 1.5"wide heel piece that mates to the bottom of the neck and lives inside the box except for appx.2.5" that protrudes out toward the headstock, it helps support the neck & i mitre it up at 45° to the neck and try to sand it good, mine gets a 1/2" roundover w/ my router . i like to make my fretboards 1/4" thick & cut from maple or walnut , i can get them local. but there lots of tight-grained hardwoods that would work flawlessly. ok. im out. good luck 👍🏻😎
