Goblin Valley is eroded into the Entrada sandstone. Fun story, the Entrada Formation has the rare distinction of being a geologic formation with only one member: the Slickrock member. It once had three members, but the Moab tongue was determined to be a member of the Curtis Formation, and the Dewey Bridge was determined to be a member of the Carmel Formation. WTF? By golly, go figure. Neato, huh?
