Given how corroded that OE terminal/wire is, I wonder if it would make sense to coat the new one's in silicone grease... To repel water from getting on the contacts, into the wire strands, etc.

Is the 2008 Lancer ES at the same spot, maybe narrower space to work from? I gotta find in Toronto a Japanese freelance mechanic (self employed). Its a fun ride, but Toronto traffic and road bumps and holes is very bad these days,

I enjoyed the video. It was very informative. I am about to attack it. Hopefully I can get a 13 year-old starter off my 2010.

Not a ground connector. Thans a positieve signalen coming from the start contact. The bridge from the first part to the 2nd part is also positive. The first part is just a relay, ween it recieves positive 12v it powers the relay and than the 12v is ging to the starter motor. You recieve ground contact throughout its contact with the transmission body. Great job 😎👌

So just changed my clutch... and now when I start the car it make a screech / grind sound. Happens when it's about to start. Someone said it might be the starter now disengaging fast enough and it's hitting the flywheel? Can u help

How did you take the starter out without taking off the intake manifold?

Hey, the lancer 2008 N/A has the starter under the manifold and not like the evolution or the ralliart unfortunately.

Not a ground wire. That's the main positive feed to the starter motor, after the solenoid.
No point trying to fix that corroded wire, it would take a huge amount of heat to solder, and given the wire is so corroded it wouldn't take solder easily either.

I just looked under my 2010 lancer I was shocked my 23 year old R34 I bought sight unseen has and had less rust on subframe. My god these cars will fall apart is actually used. Wonder why there was a rear subframe recall unreal the crappy materials in most cars now.
