    • @jackdurden466
      @jackdurden466 2 года назад +12

      That actually is kinda of fun fact, as out of all of the various and multiple stories about or including Wendigo, I haven’t ever heard that before. And going by the features and aesthetics of what I’m told, it seems to be a logical conclusion to avoid them at ALL causes! Therefore leaving their spirits alone.

      IV ALWAYS THOUGHT WENDIGO WAS A CANNIBALISTIC SPIRIT FROM THE NORTHEAST FORESTS AND CANADA?

    • @xantonysyntropyx1787
      @xantonysyntropyx1787 2 года назад +3

      @@patrickwalsh741 that's true. Apparently somewhere this past decade abouts, the whole aesthetic either changed, or (far less likely as it would take light on new or priority undiscovered evidence) was updated from what you saw in 1999's Ravenous, which I believe would've been the overall understanding of a wendigo to most up until about a decade or so ago. Now a wendigo is being described with eye following characteristics : yellow eyes, shape shifting from deer to humanoid like deer, described as having, a slender, elongated, rotting torso, and a deer skull head, sometimes with yellow eyes. Also the ability to repeat phrases it's heard before and in the voices of those it had heard saying that specific thing. I am unsure as to what the current general understanding of how a wendigo comes to be is. As far as Ive heard from past mythology is that a person became cursed for committing cannibalism, and that each time they grew in strength and prowess but that was the original understanding I believe.

      Yeah, definitely not the high point of the writing, but I more or less let that slide as a product of it's time. It's an older story set in a time where that sort of racism was common place. I feel it more so similar to how modern westerns can get away with racism. Such as Django and Hateful 8.

Unfortunately, being an incomplete quadraplegic comes with a lot of different doctors. It's like being trapped in a body where I can feel everything, but nothing wants to move the way it's supposed to, I should write a story about it, of a sort, fiction of course. I listen to these whenever i cant sleep, or just as a nightstory. Ive used creepypasta’s for all my bad and good nights the last 4 years. Love your story’s. But id love if you would speak a bit slower, and make the named more clear, so that its easy’er to follow. You probs wont even read this, or change anything. But its worth a shot anyways. Keep it up!

    OH SHIT!!! It is the original. I love this story.One of my favorites as a child.YES. This is what passed as a bedtime story.My Grandfather was fbi, Mohawk.When I was 13 my Grandfather would recall very old stories about the Algonquin people that actually mentioned these creatures.He said that the stories were when all the way back to the times when the two nations were dire enemies.Which I beleave this. It is historical fact.But mostly because the stories were very very derogatory. Anyway thanks for the upload.I ove to hear you do some Lovecraft.

    I'm not surprised the guide knows more about my kind than the other people. as many may know, we like cold places where forests are common, and Canada fits that bill 100%, thus there are quite a lot of us there.
    Wendigo stories are some of the best, because, sure, there are beings with strange and nightmarish abilities, some that drive people mad, but those are more Lovecraftian, and thus difficult to get right
    Wendigos are more primal, a creature from the cold of what happened before, and the only way to fail writing about us is by trying to reinvent us; wendigos are so close to reality that you need not think of what to write when writing about us because as long as you know what we are some part of you will know exactly how to fill in what you do not know without having to think.about it.
    my minor OCD is pleased that this video is exactly 2 hours long

    Flawless read, Doc! Thank you for the great story! But I have to know, how do you time your readings so accurately? Your voice, tempo and all, for this story and any older ones, is thoroughly consistent. I declare, it has to be sorcery lol!

      He apparently has the same sorcery on many of his female subscribers too. It’s no unusual comment to see far more than a couple telling him how....you fill in the blanks. It’s funny, but damn!

    The problem i have with 1-2 hour stories is that they tend to feel like they 40% of the time just building up the characters another 20% on eventually getting to the actual horror and the the last 10% is sometimes not really anything substantial too 😅
    Unfortunately i feel this story kinda falls into that formula aswell (not exactly obviously). Dont get me wrong the character building at the start was quite well written so it was kinda interesting in its own way but it that amount of character building feels kinda pointless for such a short story (short in comparison to a full novel).
    If this author ever wrote a novel it would probably kick ass judging by their ability to write characters and set up atmosphere but for a short story on the internet i personally beleive they should consider trimming the fat little and just getting to the point next time 🙂

    This isn't a creepypasta though, its a book if I'm not mistaken.
    Btw love your content, just wanted to mention it. The book was published back in 1910 so i don't think there is any legal issue with you narrating it.
