    Dave Mason is one of the greatest musicians of all time, but sadly one of the most underappreciated musicians of all time. I have seen Dave Mason in concert 102 times. Every concert has been great and he is still touring.

  • @MostlyBrenda
    @MostlyBrenda Год назад +75

    Still touring at 77! He actually played on the Hendrix version of it, backing Jimi on a 12 string. And Hendrix first heard the song on Mason's copy of Dylan's "John Wesley Harding" album.

    Awesome guitarist 🎸 he was also great in the band Traffic with Steve winwood.

    • @schuberttim
      @schuberttim 8 месяцев назад +1

      Dave managed to get fired from Traffic not just once, but twice. He and Steve Winwood seemed to have a personality conflict. Steve claimed that Dave brought in finished songs while Steve wanted the entire band to write songs together. I thought it was just an excuse to hide the fact that Steve was jealous of Dave's ability on the guitar. Steve was actually a pretty good guitarist, but not as good as Dave Mason.

Also had the great pleasure of sitting right at his feet while he played a gig at a small club on Long Island about 10 years ago, mostly acoustic but still fantastic work. IMHO, his solo Album "Alone Together" is one of his finest bodies of work. Does anyone else out there still have the cream-colored vinyl version like me? A real treasure!
