Okay, you've talked about Overlord the anime, now you've talked about Overlord the film, now, talk about Overlord the game and we have the holy Overlord trilogy complete
I recently heard of a Norwegian guy who was apart of a skeleton crew that stopped Hitler's A-Bomb project. He parachuted in with his crew in Nazi accupied Norway, climbed down a 200 foot rivine, snuck into the base (a hydroelectric plant of some sort if I recall correctly), blew it all to hell, and then skii'd out of there for 200 miles while being chased by a whole brigade of soldiers assisted by air support overhead. Why the hell isn't there a recent movie about him? All I heard is that there was a movie back in 1967 or something like that about this.
Bleak Victory there is one! It is made in Sweden in swedish I think and it’s called ”Tungt Vatten” (Heavy Water). I believe it could be found to be streamed and probably with captions.
Emil Borgström well thank you. I'd just like to see one in English, without subtitles and all that. A well made one. I wouldn't want the story to be mistold or anything.
I know man. All they have to do is leave the American side for 1 second and they have an ocean of fresh, incredible stories. Like "Mad" Jack Churchill, dude fought Nazis with kilt, arrows, and a long sword. And won. Plug in the Imigrant Song to that! Bad-ass.
I got so excited for this movie when I saw the trailer (besides the historically inaccurate integrated units) but then it was about some bs monsters and I was really dissapointed.
Just watched the movie, super good but I agree with you I wish the zombies played more of a role. The end of the movie they started coming out of the freezers or the shelf’s they were kept in and was expecting for that to turn into something maybe a huge shootout were the Germans have to kill of them as well. Wish they got into more of the experimental part of it, overall i recommend it!
If you go into this expecting a great action movie with slightly below average writing you won't be disappointed. Some of the dialogue and decisions throughout the movie are terrible but the action, sound design, and like you said about how great it is to look at kinda makes up for the bad writing. And yeah the whole weird love stuff throughout the middle was terrible. They should've kept that high paced action that they had at the beginning and end and this would probably be one of the best action movies from the past few years. The shooting/action scenes were usually directed so frickin good. They were also brutal as heck. If you were to cut out the middle of the movie it'd probably be 10/10. In my opinion this review is pretty accurate except for it being more like band of brother rather than Wolfenstein. It actually reminded me a lot of a movie version of Wolfenstein and not at all like band of brothers.
Like Charlie said, the middle was a bit... Eh... But it is fun to watch. The love story was kinda funny be it looked like they care for each other but not in a romantic way, but it was portrayed as so? Hahaha Overall still a nice movie to watch. 70% on the moist meter is pretty accurate.
Its like the first pacific rim in which the the mediocre story is redeem by the action. Sure the critics may be bitchin about it but this kind of movies is not made to cater them but more to appease the fans.
I fucking loved overlord. Although I saw trailers before hand so I wasn't let down. The visuals, sound design, most of the characters and the way the zombies worked, it was beautiful.
just got out of this movie and my friend told me you reviewed it so here i am, and you pretty much hit all the points and said everything i said on the way home from the theaters!
Day one of helping Legatus get Charlie to review LEGO star wars on moist meter but I'm a generic account from some backwoods hillbilly that doesn't know how to add a pfp.
I'd say that this movie does well with not trying to be action and horror at the same time. The first act is a war movie, showing the horrors of war and building tension for the horror elements. The second act is a haunted house/laboratory sequence, and the third act blends the elements introduced in the first two acts into what's basically an action finale. I thought each act was done well individually and the movie was overall entertaining. The characters were generic but done well enough that I cared about them and felt tension through the final act.
Watched it last night. What Charlie said is true in all sense. Enjoyable but it had a bit that weird love story. Story doesn't get that deep but it's still fun to watch. No horror but there is suspense, and one or two obvious jump scare. Would still recommend.
After watching Overlord moist meter I got curious and decided to watch the actual movie. After watching Overlord I completely understand how you felt about the movie and even though the trailer misleads its viewers its still a damn good movie and a shit ton of fun.
All the regular war scenes were amazing to me. The first part blew me away. As it went on it got formulaic. I had fun though. I thought they did a good job of expressing anguish. And there were a couple LOL moents too.
I just watched the movie last night, and I gotta agree with all you've said. Misleading trailer but the movie was still enjoyable despite some clichés and the weird love interest/tension? My own rating was somewhere in between 6.8-7.3, so 70% on the moist meter is pretty accurate.
i fucking loved this movie personally. I hadn't seen any of the trailers for this, and all i knew was it was a world war 2 movie directed by JJ Abrams. I had no expectations other than it would be at least an o.k war flick. The fucking attic scene with that guy who was the scientist on agents of shield was fantastic.
