OMEGA - Seamaster Railmaster Review | Time & Tide
The Omega Seamaster Railmaster was one of the surprise hits of last year’s Basel fair. So it’s vaguely appropriate that as we’re busy speculating what we’ll see Omega release at Baselworld 2018, we look back on one of their hottest from last season. Not that we realised it at the time - the regular production Seamaster Railmaster was more of a slow burn. It’s a deceptively simple piece, lacking the hero status of its limited edition sibling, and somewhat lacking in obvious bells and whistles. Rather than being a weakness, this simplicity is the Railmaster’s greatest strength. Clean, pure design, of the sort that Omega excels at: classic, but with fine details - like the brushed dial and Railmaster text - that reward close inspection.

I hate when people complain about “faux vintage lume”. It’s a color. They made it a different color than white. Because it looks good. Chill out no one is going to confuse this with a vintage watch. It’s just a color choice.

@@michaelbishop9157 they can make it whatever color they want. Some vintage lume is yellow, some cream, some white, some orange, etc. It’s not trying to look old, it just looks good.

It s crazy how this watch looks so different than the new Seamaster 300 whereas the movement inside is exactly the same (with exception it has no date)

Awesome watch. Printed on dial is fantastic. Totally understand those that do not like faux patina, but it doesn't bother me. Preowned will be a great value.
I planned to buy it to celebrate my first professional job in Rail Industry as an electrical engineer but couldn’t find one at boutique.
Over Christmas I finally had an opportunity to try on the limited edition version and the Denim. The 40mm definitely feels more robust. I also tried on the explorer and I still choose the Denim. I assume that the two you show in this video would feel the same way.

I thought that the (rail) master, had been the watch commissioned by the company of Swiss trains to Omega, for their train drivers, including for the railway stations...

I think a 38 or 36mm version would be good for people with smaller wrists, but it fits well on my wrist and everything else besides that is perfect

The whole dial disappears in direct light! Everything looks good except the dial, which is the most important bit.

I completely agree. It's like the elephant in the room.
I disagree. I think it looks like a close up of a piece of rail track after thousands of train wheels have rolled over it, smooth but with a grain in the steel.
I think it's too reflective, you can't see the painted dial at many angles, the steel bracelet doesn't match the case at all. It's a no no for me.
I'd pony up the extra $1575 and get the Explorer!
After time to reflect, id actually take the Railmaster over the Explorer if it didn't have the faux patina.
Then you'd get a technically inferior watch.
@@johansallman1259 How is the Omega inferior? It's a Master chronometer status with higher anti-magnetic properties upto 15,000 gauss.

Not a fan on this new trend of faux patina....hate it.
I don’t like it, especially the onion crown, the bleached table cloth patterned dial, the nicotine smoke tainted hour markers, and, yes, that funny-looking caseback edge. The bracelet seems to match, though - don’t like that either. So, a full package, there. Well done.

It is only a Railmaster. This is its own product line now and has nothing to do with the Seamaster. Check your sources.
Most probably it's called seamaster Railmaster because the movement inside 8806 is exactly the same than the one of the seamaster 300 (8800) with exception this watch has no date. Hence 8806 instead of 8800

Agreed. The fake colored lume is especially horrible. Despite the history, the name is awful too. A watch for someone who has a huge model train set in his mother’s basement.
