    The trunk lift hydraulic cylinder was leaking and I removed the hydraulic pump and cylinder a long time ago, but now it's time to refit them with a new hydraulic cylinder.

    Loved the video, I hope you get more views and subscribers and keep uploading the nice work man. I own a 760li from last 2 years and have been lazy to check the problem with my trunk lift. But, after watching your video, will finally fix it. Thanks man.

    Hello! Please make more videos on this car! I am learning how to change spark plugs and coils at the moment. Thank you!!

    I went back to my car and used the remote and the buttons only to lift and lower the trunk. After 7-8 times of doing that, the trunk started closing on its own (when I was attempting to bleed it initially, I was manually opening and closing the trunk). I am now presuming there was more air that needed to be bled out of the system than expected.
    So far so good. I’ll be more patient next time! I’ll keep testing it for a couple of days. 🙏

    I changed the struts the same time I added fluid just a few days ago. It did work before. The issue started a couple weeks ago. Of about three to four button presses, 2-3 will generate a motor sound.

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  3 года назад +1

      If you press the button and there is no pump sound then it probably is the button. If there is pump noise and it stops mid way or does not move at all then it can be several things. For example the new struts are for a car without hydraulic lift and they are a lot stronger. Car will detect that there is something in the way of the trunk and stops moving. There can be air in the system. If the pump is running and the trunk isn't moving it will stop the pump. The sensor for the trunk lift can go bad. If it does not detect any movement it will stop the pump.

    I filled mine up completely with fluid but still not working.. The pump just makes a noise

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  7 месяцев назад

      If it was completely emtpty then you have to bleed the system with pump working and manualy lifting and closeing it.

    I have replaced both struts and had to add more fluid to the hydraulic reservoir (mine was low, no signs anywhere of leaks or damage to the ram lift, cables or pump). When opening the trunk with either the cabin button or the trunk button, the trunk opens every time. But when closing from the trunk button, it still takes a few button pushes, which it will go down then up, nothing, or finally will close. Any thoughts? I have an ‘07 750i e65.

    • @SATSMotors

      Does the pump make noise everytime the trunk button is pressed? Did it work before you changed the struts?

  • @ooochild5897

    Hi. This was amazing. My trunk lid opens, however that hydraulic has a continuous working sound even after it has opened and then closes on its own. Is that sound normal?
    I have a 745i e65 and a 750i e65, 750i just doesn't work at all but I can hear the pump, was this video complete part replacement or was it just topping up the hydraulic reservoir, the removal of the pump didn't actually show. Or was it brand new?

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  3 года назад

      I only changed the hydraulic cylinder and fluid.
      Does the lid almost fully opens and then closes on it's own? Does the lid stay on when you open it manually? Is there correct amount of oil?
      If it closes almost immediately after the lid opens and it would not stay open when opening the lid manually by hand the struts are most likely gone bad.

    Thank you for the video, I'm having issues with the lift system and I discovered that the hydraulic cylinder was actually leaking. is it hard to disconnect the old one and install the new one where it meets the trunk lift support? I couldn't get my hand in there and I'm wondering what would be the easiest way.

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  5 месяцев назад +1

      It quite hard to get disconnect it. It might help if you remove all the control modules that are in the way for more room.

      @@SATSMotors thanks for the reply. Today I went to work on it and discovered that lower the trunk lid a bit extends the piston enough to fit the a screwdriver to unlock the metal tap! also ye had to remove at least the top module above the dvd changer.

    What brand hydraulic fluid and where did you buy it?

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  3 года назад

      Shell Aero mineral hydraulic oil is what BMW uses. It can be bought from Ebay or Amazon. I used high quality ATF.

    Do you to know why my trunk just won't stay open?

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  2 месяца назад

      Probably the gas struts are bad

    Very nice video, upvoted. My issue is that the trunk opens fine 100%, smooth and perfect, but once it is open, it drops automatically slowly. Any idea? Thanks.

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  3 года назад +1

      Does it almost fully open and then closes without pressing the button automatically?

    • @civilization95
      @civilization95 3 года назад

      @@SATSMotors yes, it fully opens first, and then slowly closes without pushing close button. Its like the weight of the trunk closes it.

    • @SATSMotors
      @SATSMotors  3 года назад +1

      First I would look If there is enough oil in the reservoir. If there is enough oil then probably it is the trunk gas struts that won't hold the lid up. If you open the trunk lid manually and it does not stay up then this is probably it. It might also be the trunk positioning sensor. Its located near the pump. If the trunk fully opens but the positioning sensor does not register it the lift module will think that there is something in the way. I think that there is a way to reset/calibrate it but I have not done it myself.
