- We've put together a Santorini Guide that you need, giving you all the information about what to do in Santorini, What budget you will need for Santorini and how much it will cost, travelling around Santorini, where to stay in Santorini and so much more!
Santorini is known as being the 'Supermodel' of the Greek Islands and renowned for being expensive. But is Santorini expensive and can it be done on a backpacker budget? Yes it can. This Santorini Budget Guide will tell you how to keep the spending low.
Our Santorini Travel Guide will give you the information you want to know and covers resorts such as Perissa, Kamari, Fira Town and Oia. Oia is well known for it's sunset spot and the place to stay for those having a Santorini honeymoon and celebrities alike.
The Santorini tourist resorts of Perissa and Kamari are more affordable resorts to stay in and a top pick for many. Kamari is more built up than Perissa and would be our recommended place to stay on a future visit to Santorini. It is also very close to Santorini airport with a journey time of approximately 10 minutes.
How to travel Santorini? Local buses are reliable and fairly frequent but do get very busy. Fares start from 1.60 per person. The airport bus runs from Fira every hour. It will take approximately 25 minutes to get to Oia from Fira town by bus.
Santorini taxi's are very expensive due to there only being a limited amount of them so do expect higher prices if you choose to take one.
Santorini port is well connected by bus from Fira if you are getting a ferry to or from Santorini.
The sunset in Santorini is well worth viewing, however, get there early if you want a good spot in Oia. In our opinion, you can pretty much get the same views from Fira town if you don't want to go to Oia.
Is Santorini family friendly? Yes, we would say so and would recommend staying in Kamari. There's not much for children to do though as it is mainly an 'adult' island so keep that in mind.

Hey Vanessa. You are most welcome and we are glad it's helped. In all honesty we've never really recovered and it's been just over a year now. Don't get us wrong we've still done trips but nothing like that 6 month one. Genuinely the hardest scene we have ever had to film as we knew we didn't do enough and had to come home. After the camera went off we were both in floods of tears for a good 30 minutes. Things will never be the same so it's sticking to the full time jobs until they can be similar. crowded and unsafe. saw people got hurt from the donkeys. they pushing donkeys down the hill. people can die from that. which part people don’t understand. will never visit the place again. luckily i got out the this place alive.
Totally agree with you. It's barbaric and hopefully one day they will realise and stop the daily abuse that these donkeys face purely for tourists. Thank you for watching 🙂
In what ways is unsafe???
@@LuxuryTravelsWithAna during summer, four cruise ship port on the same days。 the port can’t accommodate all the tourists. if you take the cable cart, it takes about 2-4 hrs to get up to the hill. we decided to take the walking route. the local pushing the donkey downhill, with human and donkey going through the same route. it is unsafe.

Came across this video after watching your island hopping Greek video (we are planning another trip to Greece and haven’t been to Paros or Ios yet). Loved the montage showing the whole trip! Amazing!!
One question after seeing the stats at the end… how much did you manage to do the whole trip for?
A very interesting question and funny you should ask. Last week we filmed a vlog which is being released this Sunday at 10am on how we did it and things we think you need to prep in advance. We won't spoil it for you so be sure to join our social media (Facebook and Insta @parkstravelguide) incase you don't get reminded on here. It was the most difficult scene we've ever had to film as for us the dream was over and we had to return to normal life. The 30 or so minutes after we filmed our final bit of walking down the steps we were absolutely inconsolable. We simply didn't do enough to get the channel to take off properly like others do. Never mind though. Paros is beautiful, Ios is...well, worthy of a very short visit. There are so many beautiful Greek islands that can excel and rival Santorini in our eyes...but Santorini needs to be ticked off the list. This is great info. We have only cruised to this destination but I really want to Island hop. We took a taxi tour of the island and can't understand why the ships dock where they dock. Many beautiful and easier places to tender for people without cable cars and donkeys.
It's a bit of a logistical nightmare if they were to tender into the ferry area transport wise as it's still a good 15min ride to Fira, plus it's always busy so they try and keep cruise ships away from it. There's probably a lot more to it but we agree. The cable car was once suitable but it's now struggling to keep up with the sheer amount of cruise passengers visiting daily. On the day we filmed the cable car shot there were 6 ships in which proved that the infrastructure needs looking at long term. Donkeys should have been banned hell of a lot of years ago. You may find our other vlog useful which was released before this one where we visited Naxos, Paros and Ios if island hopping is on your mind. Thanks for watching!

@@laurakibben4147 if you can get one for that then jump on it but we've heard they can be double or even triple that depending on the view and what it has to offer like a private pool etc. Oia is popular with celebs and honeymooners with a lot of disposable income. Better prices are to be had at the end of season but we knew we would be priced out of staying there.
