I'd agree if he were just another replicator hellbent on reproducing as much as physically possible but they had a once in a lifetime opportunity to befriend them and teach him morals. They could learn so much and he'd be the most invaluable ally in existence, imagine instructing him to turn an entire planet into ZPM's and using that tech for good to build civilizations... Wouldn't at all be hard dealing with a single replicator, the problem was their vast numbers, that's what made them unstoppable.
This scene separated SG-1 from Star Trek in a major way. It showed that even the "heroes" were willing to break an absolute moral code for the sake of the greater good.

No it was not correct cause it made the situation worse…he ended up retaliating as revenge and even created a replicator carter who single handedly was much more severe than the first. He also died as a result. How many asgardians died at the hands of the new resurgence of the replicators?
I don't think it was a matter of rights. Even if the replicator character was presented as a human captive, the threat of the mission failing was too great. The order would have been the same. Even if the whole team could not escape in time, the order would be the same. Frankly, even giving the replicators 3 minutes to stop the unattended device was too risky. But they did, cuz tv-show plot armor. It's the same kind of logic which goes into having to close a bulkhead to save a sinking ship ...even if there are crewmen still inside. Command can suck.

Even if Fifth had made it out with them, Thor never would have let him leave the system, and he might even have taken it as a bit of a personal betrayal by SG-1 - which in turn might have endangered Earth's alliance with the Asgard. Jack definitely made the right call leaving him behind.
Remember they used Rees and tried to activate her to see if she could stop them, but she was to badly damaged. So I don't think they would of seem him as a threat
It would be interesting if Fifth became the new Teal'c. Though i think they would have to nerf him significantly, because he would be too much of a solution for a lot of problems.
I do wonder how the writers would have written it if they decided to ally with Fifth. Without that betrayal it *is* possible he becomes a strong ally, but I do not see a way of getting him out of the situation they were in, they would have been able to stop the device if it were not for Fifth. That basically only leaves 'noble sacrifice' as an option if we don't want to change any of the established writing up to that point. Or perhaps some way for SG-1 to take a 'piece' of Fifth with them to 'regenerate' him? "Allied human replicator" was definitely a missed mark in Stargate as a whole, we only saw them as very temporary allies, RepliWeir is perhaps the best example/tragedy.
The Atlantis series demonstrated that the Lantean Replicators, the Asurans, could subjugate dissident individuals like Niam, take over their bodies, and attack Niam's allies from the Atlantis expedition, even from great distances. There's absolutely nothing to suggest the Milky Way Replicators couldn't do the same thing, since First was able to read Fifth's memories. Controversial as the call was at the time, Jack was correct to do what he did.

In speedruns there therefore is the question if you save the animals, or the frames aka the time on your run.
They should have taken him with them. If they had, then the Carter replicator would never have been created and all of the stuff that came with their betrayal would never have happened. Which, of course, doesn't mean other bad stuff wouldn't have happened, especially when the human Carter had to break his heart because she really wasn't romantically interested in a replicator. Hmmm...no win scenario, I guess. :(
In the end jack and telc are the only ones that don't let there emotions get in the way when it comes to the mission but his weakness like Carter and Daniel is they Care for each other which clouds there judgement

This caused them a serious problem in the future because of 5th's flaw he killed the rest of the replicators and then designed one with even more human characteristics than he had who betrayed him again and killed him, they she tried to take the knowledge of the ancients but learned so much she couldn't handle the knowledge which gave Daniel enough time to ascend and then come back as human again with the knowledge locked away a second time.
