Picked up an air dog and the instructions were difficult to understand. Look up install and found your video. Next day I installed it without looking at directions and was done in an hour. Thank you so much !
Installed mine yesterday. This video helped a bunch. Mine primed and shot out the filter in less than 2 seconds, maybe close to 1. Barely had it cracked, so only spilled a few ounces.
Great video! Easy install and great camera angles, thank you! Will be my next investment. I drive back and forth to Foley, AL, once a month, fill a 90 gallon bed tank-tool box and my 34 gallon on the 2004 crew dually LLY that just turned over 70,000 miles on the way back, averaged 22.2 mpg, pumped the truck tank full when I got home and had an inch left in the big tank, not too shabby for colder weather. I know you don't need hose clamps...but that would drive me bananas, I'll have to clamp!
I have an lmm crew cab dually long bed, for easier access to the fitting on the top of the tank disconnect the drive shaft from the carrier bearing and rear axle. Way less of a hassle than picking up the bed or dropping the fuel tank if you dont have all the right tools. @truck master
Great video! I would add that the most difficult connection to the tank top can be simplified by using a male bundy to hose bib 1/2" adapter to make the tank connection to the existing hose. It makes the install much easier.
Another way to get at the fuel line on the top of the tank is to remove the bed bolts on the drivers side and loosen the ones on the passenger side, then tilt the bed and secure it. If the line has never been taken off, even with the correct line release tool it takes some maneuvering to get it to release. Good choice with the Air Dog, the behind the frame rail hidden mount is the only way to go in my opinion. Great job with the videos!
I know Im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Salvatore Dash thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
When I installed my 165 I didn’t crack the filter to bleed the air out. Yes it makes complete sense to do that but I believe in the install directions it’s says there is no need to. Everything filled and fired right up! I was impressed and very happy with the pump!
Got the quick connect fittings with my Kennedy diesel pumps. Found the easiest way to attach them was to measure your line twice cut once and then roll out from under the truck and go to the work bench and lube the hoses up and push them on placing the face of the fitting on a flat solid surface and pushing till the hose hits the upper shoulder... I saw a couple fittings truck master did that weren't on on the way....
Great install I found unbolting the bed and propping up the front definitely helps make it easier for getting those lines on top of the tank rest was piece of cake ..
Great video!!!! I didn't even look at the instructions. Literally watched your video and did the instruction today on my 2003. Everything went flawless. I appreciate ya.
I’ve had my air dog sitting in my room on the shelf for roughly 3 months dreading the install and here it is winter time and after watching the video and seeing how easy this is I’m ready to go get under the salt and snow covered truck for a bath to install it🤣 you make pretty swell videos my friend I’ve watched a few just for shigs n gigs like the one you were stranded in🤣 keep up the quality bud.
Thanks for the tips, can say I've showered with the best of em now. These things prime up quick if you've filled the primary filter, get a buddy or preferably your hot-roddin lady to turn the key, you won't make it to the filter stack before it's pushing fuel out. Pro tip, throw a rag down on the impact zone of your drip pan to keep the splash to a minimum.
Hey truck master, i installed this lift pump yesterday on my 2005 lly duramax. I used your video which helped alot but the engine has a totally different tone at idle and it has a loping sound to it which it never had before. Im gunna check the fuel pressure next, but do you have any idea why it is doing that?
My top of the tank connection was a bit of a pain also when I installed mine, I took the left over hose section and cut it into like 3" sections and split it and then put it over the fuel lines with zip ties anywhere it was close to the frame or body to give it extra protection
If you are having any issues. Spray with penetrant like he stated. Then insert the 1/2 spin it around and pop it out and in. If still having issues use the bigger 5/8 ring squeeze it with your hand to make it close and insert that one and it should help pop it off. Good luck, definitely the most difficult part.
Can't tell you how excited I was to see you doing this. I watched your FASS install and it sold me on a lift pump for my LMM. But, from what I read, the AD would be more applicable for my setup. Seeing you do this gives me more confidence.
I just installed an Airdog 100 on my LBZ. I did the bed tilt method to get the top hose off the tank. Thats the worst part of the whole job is getting that hose out. I gained 800 FRP and one thing that I was not expecting at all was a significant very noticeable boost in throttle response. The LBZ just seems happier and quieter now.
Thanks for the step by step, I'm going to install the lift pump on my Kodiak C5500 (RV Chassis). The 80-gallon fuel tank is about 25 feet from the motor, so I might have to add longer wires and get a little creative mounting the pump to the larger frame.
I really appreciate this video for expanding upon the Air Dog install instructions. My truck appreciates this and other videos you’ve done. Cheers Brother!
If you’re struggling with those fuel lines, definitely take the fuel cooler off, 3 bolts… and I tried 4 sets of fuel disconnects. The GREEN set at AutoZone worked perfect. 1/2” confirmed. Also spray pb blaster and some kind of silicone lube where the tool goes first. Took me over 8 overs fighting those lines
Thanks for another good video. In the early portion of this production, you mentioned that with the new design, you don’t have to worry about pump failure and being stranded. Since I see that this was published 4 yrs ago, do you still stand by that? Have you had any issues and is that pump still in service? I know you do lots of upgrades, so it could have been upgraded. Thanks!
@ Thank you from the reply. I’ve been watching your videos as I’m thinking about adding a lift pump. I’ve leaned towards the AirDog but the Fass allows for a bypass if the pump fails, but I prefer the way the AirDog connects. Less connections and points of failure, but it could strand you if the pump stopped working. I got an 06 LBZ and it’s been getting upgrades. Thanks for your work man, tons of info!! Cheers.
Love how you hide the setup to make it more of a sleeper. It was the only thing I disliked about my old fass. Glad I ordered the ad. Thanks for the video
Quick tip if you have a LMM! The fuel lines use red quick disconnect clips with red tabs. You will not need the fuel line disconnect tool. You will need to cut the main fuel line and rotate it to access the red clips since they are wedged between the other fuel line connections. This will save you so much time and agony. Also no need to drop the tank or modify anything, the lines are pretty accessible
@@ronaldbabbitt6318 you pinch the red tabs together and push in at the same time. I used my phone camera to take a better look. The tabs are the exact same on the fuel cooler connection for a better reference on what it looks like
Great thanks bother! Got it done yesterday with a set of curved-hook type picks and got them pop up and release! My lmm is rolling the Air Dog lift pump now and I'm so glad 😊 It's Awesome and so are you Edward! Thanks for the help my friend 🏁
Just added one to my truck. Thanks for the video it was super helpful. I had different connectors on my tank and my fuse box was different but all in all pretty simple. My trucks 2010.5 so I think that's why it was a bit different. I had plastic connectors that I needed to pop the clip on with a flat head screwdriver.
Hey Josh thanks for the video I know it’s a year later but I just installed my air dog 165 and my truck has been sitting for 6 weeks and usually it won’t start after that long and yay fired right up. Only difference with my LMM is the line you have to remove doesn’t require the fuel line disconnect. It had the red tabs to pull out. But extremely satisfied thanks for the video keep up the good work!!
Lucky you so far I have spent 2 hours fighting with it am about to give up till this weekend and just remove the truck bed…. hopefully that will help make it easier
@@RBoysMedia I finally got the top one by removing the bed but sadly removing the bed did not help with the fitting between the tank and the fuel cooler I ended up unbolting the fuel cooler to get it out of the way (two 10mm bolts ) and using a small pipe cutter to cut the fitting off the hard line the factory line was destroyed but If I ever go back to stock I will just put in a new fuel line
very good video and great to see the attention to detail on line removal as well the use of safety stands under the truck when you used the floor jack to get it higher. Great note on fuel line removal as I have as well had a tough time on some of the fuel lines.
I bought my truck with a FASS already installed and just learned that it isn't even running. I'm guessing the dealership disconnected it because it isn't a stock component. We had it running briefly by bypassing the relay, but otherwise have no idea what needs to happen to get it running properly again. Do you think I can wire it back up with the wiring diagram? What if I wanted to switch to the Airdog? Any challenges there?
I ordered the 165-5G for my 2010 Duramax. I have had two fuel related failures [loss of pressure while towing up a hill, and bad fuel contaminating the stock filter], and I hope this pump will eliminated those in the future. Unfortunately, I am in Canada and it's January...so I won't be able to install it until spring. That's OK though, the truck sits in the garage all winter anyway.
Great Video, thanks for showing how y’all install this pump. On thing you might add, adjusting the fuel pressure and where you mounted the fuel pressure gauge in line. Just a thought. Love all you videos.
Great video. I've had problems with my 03 Chev 3500 Duramax . New Injectors , new fuel lines, new fuel cooler . engine starts and idles then shuts down. I may have to install a lift pump. I've seen both videos with the Fass lift pump and this one. which one would you recommend.
Old video I know. But I’m hoping to find out the best GPH lift pump for my truck. What do you recommend for my 2003 LB7. 100% stock. Only reason I want to install is to get more life out of my injectors. And hopefully it will give the truck better response on the pedal. Should I get the 95 or the 165? I watched a video you put out about too much PSI on the fuel system caused by to much GPH. I don’t want to wreck my truck. I plan to keep my truck stock for now. Just bought my truck a year ago. Has 550000km (341000 miles) on it. It’s in really good shape for that many. I only want to ad life to it. I will haul some trailers periodically. But nothing constant. Thanks in advance.
Why did you go with such a big pump? What have you done to the truck before installing the pump to make you want to go with the 165? On the airdog site it says if you haven't upgraded injectors and fuel rails and whatever else, you should get the 100. I've only egr deleted and put an eco tune through efi live. I notice a starvation going up hills. I dont have any plans to do anymore major modifications besides the lift pump and ram air. Is it safe to use the 165?
Off topic. Wife put a few gallons of gasoline into my 2004.5 GMC 3500 lly duramax from my spare generator fuel tank, today. She realized it was gas before she even turned the key to activate the fuel pump. Can you share a video on how to drain the fuel tank. I have a Fass fuel pump system on it.
I'm so stumped I ordered the 150 airdog it came with a pickup tube and no 11.8 quick connect fitting to install like you did. Same installation instructions for the 100/150. The 100 comes with the quick connect for the tank. Also my tank lines for the stock pickup don't look anything like yours coming off the top of the tank
Could you not leave the discharge hose fitting off and attach a piece of scrap hose to a pail to prime the unit to avoid a spray/ messy spill then attach the discharge hose once unit is burped? Just curious.
Replaced the pump on my 1500 5.3. Had to get a replacement tank because the lock ring was rust welded. Was able to disconnect the rail lines but replaced all the plastic tank lines. Rust belt problems haha
Man... my disconnect fittings refused to come off. I ended up cutting everything off. Bought metal disconnect tools and they still refused to budge. Rust belt truck. Prior oil field LBZ with 240k on it. Now my daily and bathed in salt bs in the winter. But another thing I like about the AirDog is that it’s almost protected being inside the frame and not being sprayed by the tires. And I just let the pump prime itself. It’ll purge as it’s designed to. I just checked the bleed screw on the top of the filter housing under the hood.
How do you keep the filters from gelling up when it gets real cold (-5 and below) in the winter? and if I were to do it all over again ball valves on suction and discharge side of the pump. Otherwise the fuel will siphon out while you are trying to change the filters.
Do they have pre cut stainless steel lines instead of using rubber line that will crack and dry rot over time? I don't like the idea of removing my stainless steel lines for rubber lines.
Hey man question. I’m Installing airdog tomorrow. Along with a stock filter head Upipe bypass. Should I install airdog or bypass first.. Or is airdog that efficient at priming system
Yeah im having a hard time with the fuel lines my connections look a little different than on yours mine have like red looking covers on the connection it's kinda confusing.
@@ercysuazo726 yeah I finally got it those quick connect fittings are a pain in butt to get off especially the one on top the tank. Mine didn't require the quick connect tools with how they are.
Truck Master, Thanks for putting this video together. I have a LMM that I bought used With 160k miles on it, deleted with H&S Minni Max Software delete the only issue I have had is going into limp mode throwing dtc code of P0087 low pressure in my fuel rail. based on what you have seen do you think that the lift pump would be a good solution to address the lack of pressure in the fuel rail or should I be looking at other variables?. my truck now has over 210,000 mi on it and it's been great. The only thing I've had to replace is things like water pump alternator power steering pump. I use power service diesel fuel supplement and I'm up on my maintenance religiously. thank you for your recommendation
if anyone else with a h&s minimax has experienced the same thing it'd be great to hear how they addressed it. I know most guys are running EFI Live I just don't know if I'm ready to switch just yet.
Of course I ended up with the wrong pump I have an 07 and the kit I ordered is for a 15 or up. ?? is the difference just the mounting bracket ?? wondering if I could just make a bracket mod to fit my truck . Due to covid I haven't had any luck getting in touch with "Throtl" . ?? are the fuel lines the same size ??
Great video!! This may seem a silly question, i see you supplying fuel to the lift pump from the sump pump or fuel modulator by connecting the line, is that method preferred over drilling the tank and putting in one like i have seen in the other airdog installs?
How many Hrs to install the Lift pump? and why do some people drop the fuel tank to add extra stuff so you can clean out dirty fuel? I don't remember exactly what he said he would add as an extra safety measure.
I have a 03 duramax 2500HD and I am experiencing white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I’ve put new glow plugs, new injectors, new oil cooler assembly, and the truck still smokes when put in drive. I was told that putting an AirDog will eliminate the white smoke issue. Any suggestions?
Great video. I'm getting ready to install one for a customer. The company should put a link to your video in their quasi-instruction (🤣🤣) manual. Great help!!
Great Video I need to figure out where to run the return line. I already have a T fitting in the filler tube for my aux fuel tank feed to main tank. I have no room to install another T fitting....
If the lift pump goes down or wire comes loose or any malfunction does the truck stop running or is it possible that the lift pump lets the truck run as before when it had no lift pump?
@@TruckMaster It would be good though if it had a solenoid or a bypass control that would allow the fuel to directly pull from the tank to the front filter and to the CP4 or CP3 pump so you will not be stranded, sort of like a limp mode to get you or your family back in. And you wouldn't be straining the injector pump from getting fuel due to a malfunction of the lift pump. Sorry friend it's just my mechanical engineering background that tends to get the best of me but I have made big companies big money even on the easiest solutions that fixed big problems for aftermarket companies of Toyota and die and big press machinery from Italy.
Hey friend, I have a chevrolet duramax 2007 6.6 I don't know anything about those vehicles but it marks me low pressure, what I see is that the diesel does not go up where the filter is, these trucks have 2 pumps or I need one of those that you put on it to your truck? I can get a used or a new one that you recommend

165GPH
I got the regular air dog 100 for easy installation... now I see you are installing a bigger one without a draw straw
Great timing. Just received the Air dog for my LLY. Installing this weekend.
I was thinking of replacing the nuts provided with nylock nuts. Is this necessary at all?
Why did you go with such a big pump? What have you done to the truck before installing the pump to make you want to go with the 165? On the airdog site it says if you haven't upgraded injectors and fuel rails and whatever else, you should get the 100. I've only egr deleted and put an eco tune through efi live. I notice a starvation going up hills. I dont have any plans to do anymore major modifications besides the lift pump and ram air. Is it safe to use the 165?
This might sound like a dumb question but i didn't see you remove it but the factory fuel sending unit stays connected and hooked up right ?
Rust belt problems haha
hello what lift pump is better for my lmm , air dog or fass fuel ?
Have you had any issues when fueling up I have to be outside fueling up the whole time and fuel up slow
I was wondering if you deleted the fuel filter housing on passenger side of the motor
No you don’t
Man... my disconnect fittings refused to come off.
Thanks for sharing 👍
How did you cut yours bc im running into the same problem
It's also the best video I've seen so far.
How many psi the un the fuel pump high pressure man?
Truck Master, Is it recommended to still use the main fuel filter when you add the aftermarket lift pump or to use filter delete.
It’s your call I personally deleted mine but either way it won’t hurt anything to run all of them
2004 2500hd the one on top of tank is 3/8 quick disconnect. Found out after I cut my exhaust to get to it better.
Did you have problems with the connecting the air dog lines afterwords I can’t get the line to pop on
How do you keep the filters from gelling up when it gets real cold (-5 and below) in the winter? and if I were to do it all over again ball valves on suction and discharge side of the pump. Otherwise the fuel will siphon out while you are trying to change the filters.
Do they have pre cut stainless steel lines instead of using rubber line that will crack and dry rot over time? I don't like the idea of removing my stainless steel lines for rubber lines.
Love airdog. Had one on my 05, 15 and 16
Will the 100 per gallon work on my 05 duramax lly or should I send it back and get the 165 per gallon
Hey man question. I’m Installing airdog tomorrow. Along with a stock filter head Upipe bypass.
Should I install airdog or bypass first.. Or is airdog that efficient at priming system
Replace the Stock or is a auxiliar???
Yeah im having a hard time with the fuel lines my connections look a little different than on yours mine have like red looking covers on the connection it's kinda confusing.
I have different fuel pump module I have a smaller return line connection on the left and a larger feed line on the right
@@ercysuazo726 yeah I finally got it those quick connect fittings are a pain in butt to get off especially the one on top the tank. Mine didn't require the quick connect tools with how they are.
@@ercysuazo726 did you connect to the left or the right ? Feed line
What about removing the original fuel filter?
What airdog did you get. I have a 02 factory gmc 2500 6.6 duramax
So does it add horse power?
How the heck to you get to the fitting on the top of the tank if your truck is not on a lift? Remove the driveshaft?
Thanks 👍
if anyone else with a h&s minimax has experienced the same thing it'd be great to hear how they addressed it. I know most guys are running EFI Live I just don't know if I'm ready to switch just yet.
@@arnoldurias7860 yes lift pump
Of course I ended up with the wrong pump I have an 07 and the kit I ordered is for a 15 or up. ?? is the difference just the mounting bracket ?? wondering if I could just make a bracket mod to fit my truck . Due to covid I haven't had any luck getting in touch with "Throtl" . ?? are the fuel lines the same size ??
Great video!! This may seem a silly question, i see you supplying fuel to the lift pump from the sump pump or fuel modulator by connecting the line, is that method preferred over drilling the tank and putting in one like i have seen in the other airdog installs?
You didn’t drop the tank and install the filler tube??
I just got an LB7 should I opt for the 100 ,150, 165?
How many Hrs to install the Lift pump? and why do some people drop the fuel tank to add extra stuff so you can clean out dirty fuel? I don't remember exactly what he said he would add as an extra safety measure.
Just wondering why not hookup pump fuel line after it comes through fuel cooler? Wouldn't this be easier and more effective? Thanks
Thanks 👍
Question to the forum, with this kit do you remove the existing fuel primer pump at the motor? Or do you keep it installed?
It’s your choice, I prefer to remove it
Love your videos...one critique/request. Talk a little about why you're doing these upgrades. Benefits etc...
Great Video
I need to figure out where to run the return line. I already have a T fitting in the filler tube for my aux fuel tank feed to main tank. I have no room to install another T fitting....
Being that you installed an Airdog Lift Pump, did you delete her stock fuel filter or leave it in? If you deleted it, how so?
If the lift pump goes down or wire comes loose or any malfunction does the truck stop running or is it possible that the lift pump lets the truck run as before when it had no lift pump?
No one he truck runs back to stock if the pump stops working
Hi there I have a question is it ok that lift pump makes some noise when engine is on
Huge thank you for making this video!! Just pump and AirDog on my LBZ and watched this video a few times. Really helped me out!! Thanks!!
