We wanted one direct to las galeras so this was the option we found online. Caribe tours would only take us to the town of samana. We actually paid the same price unless they ripped us off lol. We paid 500 dominican.

I used to live in the DR on several different occasions; I have traveled all over the world and the DR has some of the best beaches in the world!
....also, when you travel far distances, always try the more expensive buses. They are way more comfortable

My first exotic trip was over 20 years ago and it was the Dominican Republic and i had never seen such amazing beaches before in my life . And you never forget your first haha... I have not returned there yet but i will soon hopefully.
I also want to check it out as a possible candidate as a retirement place. Thats the reason why i select my destinations the last years. It seems like the risk for hurricanes is much lower than in most other carribean islands. Can you give your view on the safety there these days? Have fun Jumping Chris and Carol :)
Wow here 20 years ago 😁 we haven’t had any safety concerns but unfortunately we have had to deal with way too many scammers everywhere we go. Been one of the worst countries for scammers but at the same time one of the most beautiful tropical destinations. Will explain more in future videos

as Chris's and Carol's mention, you will need be aware about the scammers and also the person will try to get approach you, because your're from other country. Im from DR and this is sad true. also you will find good and humble people only be careful and all will be ok

If you are in Samana you have to visit the El Limon waterfall , cano frio river which is connected to the beach so you have fresh water and salt water next to each other

I hope you are planning to visit Parque Nacional José Armando Bermúdez! It has the highest peak in all of the Caribbean!
My mother is from Las Galeras, Samana. I usually spend my vacations there. One advice, you should've stopped in El pueblo, which is the main city of Samana ,so you could get more groceries. Las Galeras is mostly tourists and locals, so if you are staying in a place that you have to cook, you must stop in El Pueblo, to get groceries. And the guy without even notice order in the restaurant Pescado con Coco = Coconut 🥥 🐟, that is one of Samana's specialities.
Dominicans we are very noisy and happy people with music all the time called bachata and merengue. The little grocery stores are called colmados. Samana is one of the best spots in the DR to visit outside the all inclusive resorts. Love your videos from my beloved country. Keep on!

@Merle J. Stadnyk You talk about being in your 50’s. The Dominican Republic Women that are 100% Spanish and not mixed, “they have the Jennifer Lopez look”, but not as thick as J.Lo. Those are the women that will make you feel like you’re young like Chris. 😂
I’ve been to most of the Islands in the Caribbean and The D.R has some of the prettiest women. Porto Rico would come in second.

El clima en la República Dominicana 🇩🇴 ha cambiado mucho, años atrás no llovía durante todo el verano, Junio, julio, agosto y septiembre, pero en los últimos años está lloviendo mucho en pleno verano.. lo cual me sorprende, porque yo crecí en Dominicana y siempre los meses de verano eran súper secos.
Is always a better option to buy things on the big markets in the city, it is more luggage, but it makes it easier to have more and better products on hand (meat, vegetable, pasta, etc).

You proved that you can go around on DR, without worries...
If you want to eat pizza in DR I highly recommend you 3 major franchises,
Dominos, Pizza Hut, and Pizzarelli, they are the same as in USA other than
that you will be dissappointed usually. Fish, chicken, goat, beef are cooked
really well everywhere in DR.
We own a condo in Coson, Samana. Thank you for doing what few people do when filming. You showed to beauty and the trash on the street. There are both situations. Mostly we only see the beauty. And there is indeed plenty of that. But that is only part of the story. I have been at that bus station. The bus is extremely cheap. They charge along the trip.

You must visit Bahia de las Águilas. It is remote but it is by far the most beautiful beach destination in the DR. You guys are traveling on a budget, but there much better buses such as Metro and Caribe. These two are comparable to the ones in Mexico and Spain

There areas of the DR that have a semiarid landscape with sand dunes and everything in the Southwest and in that area theres lake Enriquillo which is the largest lake in the Caribbean, the Northwest is semiarid too. The center of the country is mostly pine forests and big mountains, there you can find Pico Duarte which is the tallest mountain in the Caribbean. 😄
Love the mountains in the distance. It’s the same in Pureto Plata. 😀
haha when you said there must be a party, I was like - yeah no thats just normal in the DR could even be a car... you have to see them they got speakers the sice of a washing machine sometimes in the back.. :D I love that you hear music everywhere, such a fun place...

Don't leave the Dominican Republic without going to Cabrera and Rio San Juan, on the North coast near Samaná. You can make at least two or three videos of very good quality, Greetings

I want to share the recipe for a mexican style smoothie (we call it licuado): milk, fruit (can be 1 banana, 4 or 5 strawberries, 1 average size mango, etc.), cinnamon powder, a few drops of vanilla flavor, some sugar and some ice...delicious!... I hope you both enjoy it...best wishes...
