    Very impressive. This is something that NASM does not teach-the when, why, and purpose of doing bracing and/or drawing-in. Excellent video, sir.

      Serouisly, I remember reading it in the NASM textbook, then googling it to further understand, and I kind of understood it but with the help of this video I understood it in 8 mins!

    Just watched so many videos instructing to use "bracing" instead of "drawing in" but I totally agree with you that both can be used depending on the exercise or activity. I am not a specialist neither an athlete just someone trying to reduce back pain by strengthing my core.

    This is the most amazing video after spending hours learning how to engage the core muscles.❤

    The video is truly amazing for me.
    I've had back problems for over 12 years and recently experienced a really massive herniated disc at L5/S1. I had surgery 3 weeks ago and am now in rehab. My problem has always been that I don't know how to get my pelvis neutral when doing strength training, so I always used bracing. The trainer there told me to pull in my navel and not do the bracing, which was very unusual and initially not doable for me at all, and also contradicts everything I know about strength training or is considered outdated and made no sense to me.
    Through the video, I learned that both approaches have their place and I dont think the bracing was wrong. I think not to know how it feels to have my pelvis in a neutral position was what caused my problems. I'm curious what the trainer will say about it 😄

    So are there not specific exercises where you should brace vs drawing in? Thanks for this explanation.

  • @severinojr.torres8365
    @severinojr.torres8365 4 года назад +1

    When performing drawing in maneuver your body must be relaxed like doing hook lying while doing it so that the transversus abdominis muscle must be isolated. trans ab muscle is one of the primary core stablizers.

    Do you know how I can maintain the brace longer when doing these exercises? I’m afraid at some point during my exercises I will accidentally let the brace go after using the technique. Should I practice breathing while bracing on my own time? Please let me know.

    I am newly postpartum, baby is 6 months and I am confused on when I can reintroduce bracing? I’ve been doing tons of breathing in mechanism to build back my core and transverse. However now when I lift heavy or attempt to and attempt to brace the pushing out makes me look pregnant again 🫣😬 do you recommend anything ?
