Hi Great informative video. Am spraying my best friends bike, candy over hok metajuls, over the pond in the UK. Sprayed the metajuls with a Sata rp 3000 but tiger striped on tank. Hok recommended in tech manuel 1.3-1.5. Am going to recoat the metajuls with with my Sata klc 1.6 primer gun as the tip size on the rp was obviously too small. There instructions are always off, like use full air & full fan on a rp3000! Anyways thanks for the vid, your advice is much appreciated. Keep rolling out the vids!
Thank you for the videos I really enjoy them. Your the greatest!!! I have always wanted to paint my car. Maybe one day. Please keep making these great videos!! From Hawaii Aloha!!!
@@PHARRAWAY are you in florida? I have a old school cabover semi truck I want painted and to be honest your the best painter I've seen around in a long time. Just wondering what you would charge to paint ..I like the candy paints you do
Man. That’s fantastic! A few questions, forgive me if you have discussed these elsewhere. It’s been 30 years since we painted cars as a teenager. 1. How do you select the products you shoot & how do you know they’ll chemically work together if they cross manufacturers? (And what are your favorites) 2. If you were to lay in some opaque graphics on top of the flake, would wait and do 1-2 clear coats after the candy, add graphics, then seal it in with 2-3 more coats? 3. If there were pinstripes and smaller airbrushed details added, can other paints be used - like “Sign Painter’s One-Shot”. I really appreciate your style of explanation and keeping the lessons straight forward. Thank you!
question: after completing sanding did you clean off the sanded surface with just blowing off the dust and dry wiping off excess before the candy coat? Or did you take a wet rag to clean it off? So that first clear coat restores the clarity of the flake after sanding, yes? thanks. Love all of your videos. very informative for beginners like me.
you like the black widows, I bought both and just used it the other day, I'm impressed. they work just as good as high dollar guns. btw pinstripe the cabinet next!
@@PHARRAWAY wish I could, I am an old guy with no place to work but an old barn that is pretty dirty. Quick question. After you sanded down the Orange peel did you wipe it down with anything? Did you wet sand or wipe it down? I'm learning a lot from you, thank you for the video. Thank you for an answer.
Thanks man for the knowledge I’m looking into doing a royal blue with silver and red flake soon any tips for the gun size I should use could I use a 1.8 for base , clear , and flakes?
That's cool! One question, in between coats do you leave the material in the gun or do you have to remix everytime? Seems like the material would start going off after all that time.
Pharraway, Thank you so much for the videos!!! With your videos I was able to paint my boat. Black on the bottom and blue metal flake on top. I just sprayed the flake and have an issue. Most of it came out good but the splashwell in the back must have been dryer as metal flake landed on that area. Now its like I have a grainy texture. I've already put 3 coats HS clear but its still grainy. I'm afraid if I sand or scuff it I'll turn the blue flake to silver. Any advice is welcomed !!! Thanks again!
Might attempt this someday..so if I wanted to just keep it silver before the candy..I sand with 600 and then? Go up in sandpaper (800,1000 etc)? Then polish?
I'm wanting to do something in a really bright red, and want that wet look, also want it to really pop. Any ideas? Thinking on a single stage paint with 1 or 2 coats of flake followed by 4 coats of clear.
Bro question for you I just finished sanding the 2k primer smooth with 600 do I need to spray a sealer or something else or can I go ahead and spray the silver base then my flake ?
I see some guys use a clear base coat binder to mix the flake with to put the flake on the panel for the first coats of flake, is there a reason you used the Grant 7 and not the clear base coat binder ? Also is the any kind of a chart to show size of flake to what needle & tip size to install in your gun to shoot the flake ? Want the biggest white flake possible for a project I am doing.
Would it be better for the vehicle to be assembled when spraying the flake? If you did separate parts would the flake lay different? I'm thinking about a flake C10.
another dumb question. what is the minimum size compressor that will handle this type of job? would it have to be a big 30 Gal or will a pancake size or smaller get the job done? I haven't even began to buy equipment yet but wanna make sure that it is correct. thank you for your help!

Question. Why not use the inter coat clear to lay the flake first thern follow up with the actual clear coat ? Thanks
Yes I do it that way also I'm just showing different ways of doing it
I would like to know how you know how much paint you need to mix for the job? So as not to run out but also not to have any left over
left over is ok running out is a big problem with time you get to know how much paint will cover

600

Yes javier flores. Thats the right way to go. Sealer is a life saver. For prep inperfections, scratches especially. Then ur basecoat or flake.
That looks good
How much time did you wait apply each coat from the beginning. From flake ,to clear , then candy, and clear one more time? Great video by the way
Its 15min in between each coat
Hook it up, my Brother!
Did u use hardner with the intercoat clear and candy or just reducer? Then hardner on final clear
just reducer no hardner is needed
