    That is hilariuoius you said that because thats exactly how i started.. I got back into RC cars about 2 years ago after not having them since i was a kid. I LOOOOVVVEEEEE the advancements in the RC world. I currently have an Arrma Typhon 6s, Kraton 6S, Typhon 3S, Kraton 2s, WLtoys 144001 brushless, 144001 stock, WLtoys A959 brushless, A959 stock.
    After 2 years of wishing i could ride inside the rc cars because i miss dirtbikes and gokarts, I decided to look into electric vehicles so i could drive on the street and not get harrassed by cops. I ended up going with scooters because theyre regulated less than e-bikes in NY.. My very first scooter was a cheap 48V 1600W nothing scooter, and my current scooter is an Xplor Odyssey. 60V 6000W. It hauls ass!
    So i definitely get your need for speed bug. RC cars are great, i love em, but sometimes you dont wanna sit on the side lines controlling your vehicle, sometimes you need to feel the wind in your hair!

    heya guys to get the higher speeds and long travel distances i recoment opting for the new 3.7 volt 20 amp hour flat pack lithium cells,they all bolt together in series ,so no spot welding and can output the 100 to 150 amp dc continous that you want,also has benifit of being able to charge inexcess off 50 to 60 amps ,so can charge up in an hour .most of the 18650 based batterys out there just cant supply a 100 amp continous ,the spot welded nickle strips just arnt dense enough to channel it.

    I know what you mean about tossing all of the reflectors right off the bat. I’m not against safety, but I hate the imbalance. I can feel with those pieces of plastic screwed to the spokes. I found something that I really like that gives you the reflector safety, without messing with the bikes performance, “ Rim Tape” I have black rims and I got their Black Ice version. It isn’t as black as the wheel paint, dark charcoal would be a proper description. But very effective reflector. Looking forward to seeing the ride.

    we had one of these frames to and managed to reduce the frame weight to 13.5 kilos ,had to make alot of cut outs ,and carbon panel inserts but makes big difference ,also changed the rear shock to a 320 mm external resiviour.just needed new mounts thats all.
    also thinking of drilling out hole saw holes in swing arm maybee 5 each side to reduce more weight,
    the biggest plus mod was makeing a single sided jack shaft ,so its possible to ride the bike around town pedaling with out using the motor, alot of stuffing round ,but makes its a useable bike now.

    For the backspacer maybe grind down one side of the washer so that it's flat and put the flat side toward the wire then the one that came with it can be up against the frame so another video where a guy did that with two washers seem to work very well with him same exact issue

      Hello, I have an update video of this bike build and I just ended up leaving them out completely. I'm using the torque arms for spacers.

  • @ebperformance8436
    @ebperformance8436 2 года назад +2

    My frame came in’ same color as yours….but mine came with four torc straps with a square bit built into them…..it’s hard to explain….but it makes the rear tire easy to install….the brackets slide right into the dropout spacing and there adjustable….I believe they updated the drop out torc armed to slide into the rear fork slots.then they bolt into the fork and the side nut is tightened….the only confusing part is I was sent 4 of them’ maybe it’s for more strength’ if you have a 5000watt and up motor.
    One fits in the slot and the other probably is used for spacing….needless to say I have 2 torc arms for each side.
    I think all the frames are the same….but the hardware has been updated….if you got the same company as mine….I received a 200amp Savoton…I believe they gave me the 200amp one by accident….I remember customizing my order for a better display and they sent the upgraded speed controller, and the display I ordered….anyway the mistake was to my advantage.
    As for the speed controller size…it baffles me…why they would include a small bottom bracket…to small.
    I welded 4 tabs to the bottom part to fit the controller and used some 1/8 MDF plastic to fit the gap….I used a heat gun to fold the plastic, and cut it to shape to fill in the gap’ you don’t need a welder to do it….you can use screws, and some flat 1/8 x 1/2 inch wide steal stock and crew them in….I tack welded mine to look professional.
    Gonna do a build video on mine soon’ still waiting on the handle bars and the 7speed shifter….I got lucky and obtained the rear derailleur, and crank from a female MTB I had laying around….my bike will be mostly a road bike…I ended up going with 27.5 inch tires….FYI this frame is able to fit tires all the way to 28 inch….without any special adjustments.
    It looks longer….due to the larger tire size….but Unique.

    • @samjohnson517
      @samjohnson517  2 года назад +1

      Sounds great man! Can't wait for the video!

  • @ebperformance8436
    @ebperformance8436 2 года назад +1

    I’m 5/7 I had to return the 200mm shock and get a 150mm shock….my bike uses 27.5 tires so it became impossible to get on it so I Measured the eye hole to eye hole…and found a 150mm will lock bad ass….and the travel will not bottom out the frame.
    It’s much easier to get on it….it looks almost like a Tron motorcycle’ many old schoolers remember that video game’ I’m gonna put bottom, and rim lights on to give it that touch.
    Mine will be mostly road or dirt trails.

    Hi from across the pond in England, great video, im also building a Enduro bomber bike, i wish to give you some advice, 1, please set your sanctions flush with your upper crown, or yokes as we say in England, i notice alot of people dont and forks are not ment to be poking our of your top yokes.
    2, please ditch your cheap $15 headset they supply you with, instead by a FSA 360 Orbital headset, with sealed bearings. FSA make the best headsets in the world, very durable and reliable and hardly needs servicing and only around $30 for a top FSA headset, also go for short stem and high riser bars so your body position is similar to motorcross. Or instead do what i did and treat yourself to a set of Rocksox boxxer front triple clamp forks because they use direct mount bars system thats very much like motorcross bars.. i notice that mountain bikes use stems that put the riders arms / hands over the front wheel, where as motorcycles the bars are directly above the fork stem, not over the front wheel, i hope the advise helps :)

    • @samjohnson517
      @samjohnson517  2 года назад +1

      Hello and thank you for watching, as far as the forks go I left them like they came I did not want to lower them flush because that would raise the height of the bike and I'm having a problem with that as it is because I'm short LOL I agree the headset is not the best but it seems to be working okay for the moment I like the way Iam sitting now, I have the seat as low as possible the short stem brings the bars back to me, kind of like an Enduro or downhill mountain bike. If I was taller and had the seat post adjusted high I can definitely see where the taller bars would help.

    I also had trouble with the lower bearings, no tool either, but I ended up finding a metal tube not quite the right size, so I put several aluminum rings at the end. I had found it, and I hit with a big hammer but I had placed a thick piece of wood on the tube, it was not easy to put on this bearing anyway, it would take specific tools as they have in the factory ...
    J'ai eu du mal aussi avec les roulements inférieurs, pas d'outil non plus, mais j'ai fini par trouver un tube métal pas tout à fait de la bonne dimension, alors j'ai mis au bout plusieurs anneau en alu que j'avais retrouvé, et j'ai tapé avec un gros marteau mais j'avais posé sur le tube un morceau de bois épais, ça n'a pas été facile à enfiler quand même ce roulement, il faudrait des outils spécifiques comme ils ont en usine...

One connector has the RGBY wires so I know it’s the motor phase wires and it plugs into the matching connector coming out of the controller. The other connector has brown, white, purple, grey, orange, and silver wires and there isn’t a matching connector coming out of the controller for it. Do you know what this connector is for and if it’s supposed to be plugged in to anything?

    2 things you will need to do. The rear swing arm rubber bush, too flexible and will wear out quickly. Best thing is to cut it out and replace with deep groove bearings, it will make a big difference. The zoom forks will be okay for a short while, but then will become a pogo stick and will also rattle badly when you brake. I replaced my front fork with a Suntour XCR34 air. Perfect and allows much more steering. (Needs a slight mod to head tube for the taper steerer). This is not complaining about the equipment, just lessoned learned.

      Hello Steve, great channel by the way! On my controller, maybe it is like yours, I never understood why it did not have all of the wires that you normally see on these, like for lights horn etc. I have the two pin plug for the harness (brakes throttle and screen) and I have the plug for the motor and then I have a small three wire plug that I believe has something to do with the hall test because it says to disconnected before doing the hall test and then reconnect it after the test.
      When I changed the brackets of the unit I did notice a bunch of wires inside not being used, they chose not to run those outside for some reason.
      I have the same problem trying to run 12 volt out of this unit.
      I am just going to use a 72 volt to 12 volt converter, I am going to hook the converter directly to the controller positive and negative.

    You Live n& Learn self building - I'm considering building one.
    EXTREMELY IMPORTANT - I think amyway - I saw Sam swapped bolts for different type & need to check the specification when switching any bolt that's going to have a load on it. The retailers will or should have a specification saying what strength the bolt is. I imagine the the bolt & arm prevent the motor from spinning round instead of the wheel!!
    Don't think spacer material is as important as it'll be fixed & won't be acting as a bearing BUT AGAIN WHAT IS NECCESSARY I BELIEVE - I think you need to put a string line from the front sprocket to the back of the rear sprocket. If the string line doesn't lay flat across both sprocket faces then the sprockets aren't in line & the chain won't lay right & therefore space each side accordingly if the motor isn't designed for the wheels & frame etc that you're using. - I'm sure most people are aware & appologies if already been said. After all these E bikes are getting some power put on them lately!

      Hello, well I'm not sure where you are you may want to check your local laws/ rules but here in Southern California you can ride the bike lanes no problem.

    When you ride either even a Speed bike or others ... it always requires a lot of adaptation, that's the problem and sometimes it takes our head but by thinking we always manage to find solutions, but which are not always the best, that's why you have to watch other people's videos lol! to find new ideas, solutions and others at the aesthetic level too ...
