Rock Hudson was one of the most handsomest of men to grace the silver screen. I choose to remember Rock before he was infected with that vile decease. A lovely, softly spoken man with a wonderful sense of humour. Check him out being interviewed by Terry Wogan it will have you in stitches. God bless you, Rock

Poor Rock: he was such a magnificent film star, strong, charming, dignified. His end was humiliating and tragic.
RIP to the classy and elegant DIAHANN CARROL who always enhanced every show she starred in and was always a trailblazer being one of the very first black women ever nominated for a Best Actress Oscar and the VERY FIRST black woman to get her own sitcom called JULIA in 1968 on NBC over FIFTY years ago. Always a LADY and always a class act.

I know he was sick and lost weight but I still think Rock Hudson looks very handsome in this opening
Yes, all filmed before the illness affected his looks, weight loss, etc
Maybe in this opening, but in the show itself you could see he was dying
A lot of makeup and skillful lighting and camerawork sadly... A tragic loss
It took 1 1/2 hrs to do Rock's makeup and he slept when not filming.

Things were never the same after Pamela Sue Martin left.
So true, her leaving led them to create "Amanda", which led to the whole Moldavian massacre disaster. The Colby's spinoff hurt the show too. Then the bad recasting of Fallon.

Wow! This episode must have been running short, or else the trumpeter was being paid by the note. He really stretched his part out at the end of this one.
GusMcGuire This was the same musical opening for every episode this season. Their longest up to that point.

AIDS was still very unknown and had a lot of misconceptions and stigma attached when Rock Hudson appeared. There was supposed to be a kissing scene between Rock Hudson and Linda Evans and Rock Hudson turned his head because the misconception was one could spread AIDS this way. This was a huge deal then. We have learned so much since then.

Not that it matters, but I did always wonder why they started putting John James ahead of Pamela Bellwood in the opening credits. In prior seasons it was the opposite. First season without Pamela Sue Martin too. I kept watching it, but always missed her. Emma Samms was a terrible replacement.
I wonder what rock Hudson would think now with queen on the radio every five minutes and queen every five minutes on television !

Where's Fallon?
At this point in the series Pamela Sue Martin had left and hadn't yet been recast. She supposedly had a mysterious car crash and when they found the car, there was no sign of her. Once Emma Sams took over, she first appeared as an amnesiac, who was found by Miles Colby (played by Maxwell Caulfield), who became a short-term rival to Jeff for her affections. This was eventually to lead to the introduction of the spin-off series 'The Colbys'.

@@GusMcGuire The theories of many; Apparently she wanted to leave after her buddy Al Corley left at the end of Season 2. She later said that the writing for Fallon became blah and victimy, and that the show had metamorphosed from a witty satire about the rich and famous into a lame celebration of the rich and famous.
