Glad to see you back on RUclips, Ted. Been listening to the St. Irenaeus podcasts for years and I'm happy that you've picked up the torch. Looking forward to many new informative videos and podcasts, especially about the Old Testament books (hint, hint).
Greetings from Wyoming! Thank you for putting your knowledge and love into these videos. It’s not often I can watch a 40 minute plus video and enjoy every minute of it, but yours I can. Please keep these coming, you are using your talents to serve God by teaching the Christian community. I bought the Haydock Bible on your recommendation and plan on carrying it to Bible study! May the peace of Christ be with you always.
Another excellent video! I especially liked the comment about it being like a doctoral seminar, except that the students were very intelligent. 🤣 I look forward to the next one.
Great video; one of the greatest discoveries I made at my (Methodist) seminary was Thomas Oden, who made the case in all his writings that the cure for the confusion brought upon the seminaries and the churches by theological liberalism was to return to the consensus of the whole church, and especially the Early Fathers. I’ve been reading them where I can, and reading their comments on Scripture ever since
Thank you for this video!! I’m reading through the Church Fathers for the first time and this was so helpful and inspiring. Loved your final thoughts too. I’m a Protestant, and I’m the first to admit that my evangelical tradition has done an incredibly poor job of teaching the history of the Church and the Fathers. There is work to be done.
From this channel I found out , among other things , the Fathers of the Church series , which in the future I hope to build up a collection of St. Augustin and more once i get that far.
Hi Ted, question. How would you rate St. Augustine's works as a comprehensive piece for theology, philosophy and scriptural studies? He wrote alot of books, mostly on different doctrines. Would you say, St. Augustine has a broad understanding of Christianity for him to be one of the doctors and pillars of the Catholic Church? Can we truly say he has a huge contribution in the foundation of what we know as the Catholic faith? I would like to know your take on this subject matter. Thanks.
What a great question. Shucks, I should keep up on comments more. I'm actually hoping to address this in a subsequent video (I've got the script written and everything), but I've been so tied up with in-person work I don't know when I'll get around to it.
@@siministries no worries. I am glad to hear from you. Such a huge honor. I would love to hear your thoughts since I was a graduate from St. Augustine. Hearing another's perspective would really be helpful. With such a prominent figure. Will be waiting for your video.
It's a well known fact that growing a beard makes you smarter with computers AND theology. People think you're either a monk or write Linux kernel modules..
Greetings! I'm ruminating about how to approach reading Church Fathers, so I can decide which of four of the ancient Churches is the one God himself established. I came to this knowing by investigating apostolic sucession and then establishment of biblical canon. If I got your presentation right, than it's ACW and FOTC collections that are most up to date editions of patristic writers availible in english translation. I'm from Croatia so I can't go to library to make comparison between those two editions in every single case when there is a same author and/or title availible in both editions because here those collections aren't availible. So what all my fuss is about? I would like you to navigate me through my readings, recommending me title and best edition availible in english langauage. I'll use logos bible software to purchase it because shippings to my country are too expensive. So, where do i began? PS Why don't you post more content on your channel, which is one of the best availible for learning about christianity? PSS I'm an undergradute student of philosophy and anthropology. I've defended my philosophy's undergraduate finals paper about 'Pierre Hadot and his attempt to revitalize ancient philosophy as art of living'. I have't defended my anthropology degree yet because I must find someting interesting enough to write about in finals paper which must consist of circa 30 pages. I will choose between the following: a) Rene Girard, b) Walter Burkert, c) Simple living God bless you
36:00 On what topics and doctrines do you think there was a "consensus patrum"? Isn't it the case that the consensus is an intangible idea that changes dependant on the times and centuries we pick to consider (whether it's the first 4,5,6,7 or 8 centuries)?
Calvinists have Reformation Heritage Books in which to buy Calvinist classics at discounted prices. Are there any Catholic organizations that sell these Church Fathers translations at discounted prices? Amazon and ebay sells Works of the Church Fathers at prices many working class Catholics cannot afford.
"Amazon and ebay sells Works of the Church Fathers at prices many working class Catholics cannot afford" that should be a red flag.... if the fathers really supported their traditions, they would publish the fathers for everyone to access...

I love your paraphrase of St. Jerome. 🤣
Thank you for your work for normal dummies like me, LoL. I can't imagine reading all those books
Good to see you again, Ted!
Part 2 when? I've been SO eager for the list ever since this video came out.

For someone who owns the CUA, ACW, and ACCS series, but has never been to college - this was tremendously enlightening. Thank you.

Thank you for your words of encouragement, brother in Christ. There is much work to be done here too - let us pray for each other.

Just finished this video. This is awesome! Thank you.

@@siministries Hi Ted, I was thinking how you are doing regarding St. Augustine's? I enjoy watching this specific video again and again.
@@siministriesHi Ted, I saw that this was already a year ago. But your videos are still fresh in my mind.
Hey Ted, have you read Scott Hahn's new book on the Rise and Fall of Sacred Scripture? Any thoughts about it?
Wow!

Hi, Ted. Glad to know your educational videos. Any plan to discuss Navarre Bible Commentaries and Ancient Christian Commentary in Scriptures (ACCS)?
What a great start to the video! Ha!
Greetings!

Think PhD seminar but the students are really smart 😂
And where have you been all these months?!?
Hahaha this is funny but interesting.
Argument from Authority 😂
