Hello from Australia! I am very excited to have discovered you. I have always been fascinated by pieces of paper - in fact years ago, created momagami long before I knew it was even a 'thing'. I will incorporate pieces like yours into my art works, indeed, some of the pieces you showed in this video would look fantastic just glued onto a plain black canvas background. Another of my loves is creating jewellery - and I can see how I would be able to create pendants, earrings.....(just don't wear them out in the rain !!). I have subscribed and I can't wait to see all your other posts.

Hi Kathleen. Thrift store lace! Just the thing. I am looking at a variety of ribbons, even some rick-rack, to see if it will show through and make texture. Keep me posted!

Your papers turned out beautiful! I saw Louise Jannetta's video a couple months ago, too, and have not stopped thinking about it. You have inspired me to give it a try. Thank you!
Hi Linda. Once in a while RUclips throws something great onto my front page feed and Louise's video was one of them. She is so inspiring. I hope you give it a whirl. It is quite addictive.
Hi Kelly, I’m a papermaker and also love the lacy papers we’ve seen created by artisans over the years. Many have been framed on their own as interesting “fiber fragments”. My creative mind is going bonkers with possibilities. Thank you for the inspiration and tips! :-)
Kelly, thanks so much for all these fabulous examples - love the blue butterflies and roses over the music! I had tried this with a book page and pva glue and it was alittle hard to tear, so thanks for the paste recipe. I also tried it by sewing the grid, but like the twine better. So fun!
Hi Sandy. I have seen some techniques with sewing the threads but my stitching days are long gone so - glue it is. Thanks for the feedback on that and on the pva. I figure all of these variations are worthwhile, they are just different. Also, depends so much on our individual style. Thanks again for comparing notes!
Hi Kelly! I love this! I watched yesterday on how to make the paste. I’m all set now. I have a feeling I’ll be making this paper lace the rest of the day! Thanks so much for showing this. I enjoyed the video. ❤️💜💚
So glad that you popped up on my feed! I am so inspired by the kneaded paper and paper with holes ! I have bought a few pieces of this paper, but it so expensive that I have hesitated to use it. Now my mind is spinning with possibilities. Thank you for your great video and clear instructions. You are my favorite binge today and I am anxious to get my hands dirty.
Hello and welcome, Lynn. You know, usually I tell people that they should never hoard paper just because it is pricey or hard to find and - I found myself hoarding paper because it was pricey and hard to find, so you and me, both. But now we have options and can hoard AND make and isn't it lovely to have a choice. 🌷🌻🌼Kelly
I’ve been racking my brain for a some unique page ideas for the journal I’m working on. This is so cool! I just gave it a go, now the wait until it’s dry and I can rip out areas. Thanks for sharing!
Kelly, what a fantastic teaching vid this one was. Your so thorough, and tried so many different awesome ideas. I loved the first one that was your basic white, with coffee stains, as well as the (sp?Mamigammi one that looked a bit rusty from a previous video. ALL were just amazing! Thanks for all your fabulous ideas and creations!
Hiya, Lynn. Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. They truly mean a lot to me. At the end of the day I also really loved the parchment-coloured one with coffee stain. It kind of looks like the inside of my head! Kelly
Hi Rachel. It is strong and resilient. I just made a messy journal using this stuff as a "page" and you can sew and fold it and it is still one thing and a lovely thing at that. Thanks for stopping by!
I did enjoy the video. thank you for sharing your techniques with us. I learned almost the same thing years ago with a friend of mine. but I am always looking for more interesting ways. one technique I enjoy is using paper towels dumped on organic dye, stitching them, and using embroidered fabric as a background. I like the idea of the homemade past (like when I was a child my mother made glue with water and flour) and will try it next time. thank you again.
I remember watching Louise's video! So many cool ideas! Your paper lace is absolutely beautiful ❤ definitely going to give it a try! Amazing results and I love experimenting with different methods and techniques. I do believe you switched my creative mojo back on 😁 so thank you 😊 you have a new subscriber.
Hello and welcome, Sandra. Louise is such an inspiration and she looks so impish, too. 😺Thanks for this message and re creative mojo, this truly makes me happy to hear. I hope you are having a creative week! Kelly
I watched your video on the morigami paper. I started scratching a paper as I was sitting here waiting for my computer to switch and I just love it. I used the papers to make a little home journal cover.
Hi Roxann. I love these techniques that we can do almost anywhere in bits of time that are making but don't take as much creative attention to produce as some art does. This is more for the fun of it and it can be meditative, to boot. 😺
I'm a new subscriber, and this is the 3rd video of yours that I have watched in a row - in about 3 hours! Happy to say that I have also just made my first batch of cornflour glue AND net lace paper. Excited to see the results. Thank you. 🧡💚🤎
Thank you for showing this. A lot of potential there. I will use twine for makes that will go on the covers of my journals (and on the outside surface of my storage boxes) and thin thread that will go inside of my journals. I will also try my favorite technique of going with acrylic paint on all the edges (outside the whole piece and inside of each hole). I will apply the paint with the small plastic bottle with needle tip (I bought many on amazon and am truly obsessed).
Hi Lena. One of those fine tipped bottles has been on my list to try forever. Highlighting the edges of the holes with acrylic sounds dramatic, in a good way. Let me know how it turns out! Kelly
Thank you so much Kelly, I really really enjoyed watching you create this incredibly beautiful and uniquely stunning lace papers. I really really ❤ love them all. I also really like the stitched paper that you showed us earlier. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤

It's never ending what you can do with these papers. I want to make a room divider with embroidery threads in them. I made a lamp shade for my bathroom night light last year. lol. So much fun. I also dye with beet juice, blueberry juice, whatever you can think of really. Thank you Kelly. Have a great day.
Yowza, a room divider. That is a brilliant idea and why not. That lampshade sounds charming, too. These do remind me of old-timey Japanese lanterns. Speaking of dye, I just bought some dried barberries at my local Indian market and am about to soak them and see if they work for dye. Fingers crossed!
@@BookandPaperArts Fingers crossed. I have to look up barberries, I've never heard of them. I did and WOW, I love that color. Can't wait to see how that looks. Have fun crafting.

Super ideas and looks- very inspired by this video! Thank you for showing so many variations and techniques. I will start with kitchen paper toweling and printed napkins! Thank you so so much for this video. Now I'll look for the paste video.
Hi there. I try to answer all of the "stupid" questions that I would want to know myself and things that have come up in in-person workshops as I know what it's like to get inspired by a tutorial or lesson then get in the middle of it where all is sticky and suddenly find I don't know where part of it is going! Kelly
I have to come back and write another comment as I am finishing your video. Loooooooooooooove the idea of making sheet into a bracelet! Can you imagine how much fun it would be to play with it as you wear it and make the scrunchy, crunchy, crinkly sound?! Yummmmmy. I make jewelry! Hey! How about a super cool brooch?! I made one using Silky Solvent, and this method would be similar but made from paper rather than ribbon and thread textiles. And……How about a necklace statement piece! YOU have made my mind explode!!!!!
Hi Barbara, this message made me smile. Back in the day I wore vintage clothes but now stick to very classic basics but that means I can add a statement piece to it for pop. I love the idea of a necklace or neck cuff kind of thing (maybe an homage to the Elizabethans but funky?). If you ever want to send me photos, it would be a pleasure to see them, at kelly@bookandpaperarts.com Happy making!
You popped up on my alerts today, and boy am I glad. I love how you did these papers, I can’t wait to try them. Do you have a video on how you make momigami? I’ve watched a few, but all are different. Some use hand lotion, another coconut oil and some use nothing. It’s all confusing. I’ve subscribed now, so I can’t wait to see more of your work. When I have time, I’ll start working my way back through your older videos. Thank you for showing your lovely work. 🫶🇦🇺🦘
Hi Carrma. Hello and welcome. Here is the link to the momigagi technique that is specifically for transforming glossy magazine pages and coffee table book pages. Hope you make gorgeous papers! Kelly ruclips.net/video/s6obMkXAXi8/видео.html
these are so cute!! and artsy and useful and so very ecological!! I was wondering how can I use the suspicious, plasticky twine I get with the egg cartons from the market (30 pc, large trays). I can also use leftovers from macrame projects. and as for the paper?!! I can use just about anything!! including failures from the momigami technique I learned from you [ and now I got to the part where you show how you made a net from your momigami pieces ]. can you imagine the effect of some dark paper netting like this, doubled up on pastel pages? or at least some light pictures/designs/ilustrations and now you're talking, I feel like trying a "kinked up" yarn as base... 🤔 it might come up even more organic, and lacy, and interesting 🤭 as usual, thanks for sharing!!
What great ideas, Irina. I also tried the kinked up threads. I just let them fall in loops and glued the paper over it. The results were okay but good enough that I think it's worth trying and working on. Also, using two tones or colours of paper so that you are pulling through and shredding both and the fringe mixing together and revealing shades. Thanks for comparing notes! Kelly
I can really see these papers combined with fabric and fiber. In fact the first thing I thought of when you made it into a bracelet was why not a shirt? I think some of these would look good backed with cheesecloth. I have to say hat I really liked the one with newsprint and the photo of the girl, I could tell you weren't that crazy about it but I'm imaging using illustrated book pages using the holes placed strategiically to tell a story. Oh Kelly this is what I love about your videos they really spark my creativity. I wonder if you added some mica to the paste . . . .
Hi Sheryll. and thanks for these ideas. Mica! That definitely needs to be tried. The thing about the piece with the newspaper is I do like it but as you suggest, for a different kind of project. I am now looking at my old papers for ones with portraits and key words that can be manipulated. They would make cool altered books or mother projects, maybe a stand-alone collage with the viewer filling in the story. As for a shirt, go get 'em! You wouldn't be able to wash it, though, but as an art piece it sounds terrific. I was thinking of a necklace/collar or maybe even a headpiece, like an avant garde fascinator. Thanks, again, and you are helping spark MY creativity. Just one more great reason to compare notes. 😺Kelly
Fascinating experiments. I surprisingly like the way the momigami papers tore. You used the same cornstarch paste for those? I wonder what doing one side with one type of paper and another side with another might look like. You give lots of ideas and inspiration - thank you!!
Hi Judy. Yes, I think Rule 1 of paper arts should be: don't forget to turn the page you are working on over to see what it looks like from the back, because the back may very well become your front. I did use the same paste for the heavier papers. It was completely a shot in the dark trial and error and I am not unhappy with how it is turning out!
I am delighted!! You are an artist, thank you so much, from Chile my best regards to you. I am just starting learning journal and paper techniques. I wish, in this case, if you have any finish cover book or something using this awesome way of recycling and so so beautiful 😍.
Omg, this is nuts fantastic ❤❤❤ wax papers and paper paper? Any paper , and fibre? 2 parts cornflour to 8 parts water? Wow! The old school glue recipe. Definitely going to do this, awesome textures for art journals, backgrounds etc.🧡💛💚💙💜🤎💖❤🇭🇲
Thanks bunches, Claire. I've been in overdrive trying new paper stuff with accessible materials. Can I swipe nuts fantastic? That is one finei turn of phrase. 😺
Absolutely 😂, And this technique actually works! Even my glue with plain flour, water and a pinch of table salt for preservative, so should last longer than just a few days. No click bait .😂🇭🇲💖💖💖
Hi Sabine, I like that cheesecloth idea. I am also going to try integrating cloth and paper, adding some gauze between layers of paper and seeing where that goes. 😺
Hi Kelly! I love, love love your videos and content style. I may try this on an "onion bag", mesh produce bag! much finer, but that just means more holes! The bracelet idea is cute, just dont make a matching dress with all those holes unless they are strategically placed!
I would love to see the twine or threads placed down onto the bottom layer in the form of a tree like the other artist did with the thread. that would become a really cool ‘family tree’ journal page. Have you tried making a design like that leaving the holes in a design other than a checkerboard pattern?
Hi Holly, not yet but I am still just learning it myself. As I said, I have been so inspired by Ines' art that I am looking to do a deeper dive into it now that I can make a version of the paper tearing (Her's seem to be sewn rather than glued.)
So awesome!! Thank you, thank you. They remind me of the sea and nets. What if you waxed them when you’re done? I think I would make a plan paper kind of translucent.
Hi Denise, I haven't tried it but I believe I will. I do love paper with a coating of wax and added to the already mysterious effects here, it could be amazing. Let me know if you try it! Kelly
Those are both really good ideas, Vera. I also found some old rick-rack (zig zag ribbon) that I am going to try. So, so many varieties. Let me know how they work out!

Hi I am new to your channel and I am blown away by your talent. I cannot wait to try this technique. I love makingc

Love this technique also like using momigami paper. Excellent
Thanks, Sharon. I hope you make some fun pages, too.
Love love love this ..😍😍😍 Totally AWESOME ..🌹🌹🌹
Thank you, Patricia. I am still trying out different papers. The "reveal" is always interesting. 🌻🌼🌷
This looks so fun, ill try a sample bit with my reg glue first, then try and make the plant glue next.
Hi Theresa, I don't see why regular glue wouldn't work but maybe a slightly different effect. Both can be good. Keep me posted.
Love this technique! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤️
Thanks bunches, Mina. 🌷🌷🌻🌻🌼🌼
What an interesting craft! Thanks for sharing.
It is my real pleasure! 🌷🌷🌻🌻🌼🌼
Kelly
Love your experiments!
Thank you, Sue. That is truly nice to hear. Kelly
Excellent video with fantastic instructions and examples!❤❤❤
Thanks bunches, Katie Jo. This is truly nice to hear.
Lovely! I will start right away - it looks so delicous and the paper sounds marvelous
I hope you make some gorgeous papers!
Appreciate the many examples of uses!
You are so welcome, Jann. Thanks for stopping by!
If you ever want to send me photos, it would be a pleasure to see them, at kelly@bookandpaperarts.com
Happy making!
Wow! This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!❤

Thank you, Donna. This is what I like to hear! Kelly
This looks like such fun to try!
Kelly

Wow! That was a excellent demonstration!
Why thank you, Charlotte. That is what I like to hear. 😺Kelly
these are so cute!! and artsy and useful and so very ecological!!
I was wondering how can I use the suspicious, plasticky twine I get with the egg cartons from the market (30 pc, large trays). I can also use leftovers from macrame projects.
and as for the paper?!! I can use just about anything!! including failures from the momigami technique I learned from you [ and now I got to the part where you show how you made a net from your momigami pieces ]. can you imagine the effect of some dark paper netting like this, doubled up on pastel pages? or at least some light pictures/designs/ilustrations
and now you're talking, I feel like trying a "kinked up" yarn as base... 🤔 it might come up even more organic, and lacy, and interesting 🤭
as usual, thanks for sharing!!
Love this! Could you use a magazine page? Can't wait to try this technique.
Hi Arles, there is only one way to find out! I would definitely try it. Keep me posted on how it turns out! Kelly
Great video. I’ve been inspired! Thanks for sharing ❤
Why thank you. That is truly nice to hear and it makes me happy. 🌻🌼🌷

Thank you, Ella! 🌻🌻🌼🌼🌷🌷
Love this!
Thank you, Amelia. This is truly nice to hear. Thanks for stopping by!
I am delighted!! You are an artist, thank you so much, from Chile my best regards to you. I am just starting learning journal and paper techniques. I wish, in this case, if you have any finish cover book or something using this awesome way of recycling and so so beautiful 😍.
Thank you very much. This is truly nice to hear. I hope you have a creative week and happy making! 🌷🌼🌻Kelly in the UK
I will try to demonstrate it as a cover for a journal soon!
@BookandPaperArts Great ❤️!!
No click bait .😂🇭🇲💖💖💖
gonna make that bracelet! to put in my etsy shop
What a great idea. Keep me posted, I would love to see what you make. Kelly
i really like this.

Hi Lizzi. It is my real pleasure. Thanks for stopping by. Kelly
Thanks SO Much it IS SO Besutifull work😍
Thank you, Caro. This is truly nice to hear. (My apologies for the late reply!) 🌻🌼🌷
The look is so interesting. My idea is to try cheese cloth & cut circles into it. There’s a good chance I’ll try some different paste mediums 🙂🐾💚📚🗺️
Hi Sabine, I like that cheesecloth idea. I am also going to try integrating cloth and paper, adding some gauze between layers of paper and seeing where that goes. 😺
Very interesting. Thank you for sharing
It is my very real pleasure. Thanks for getting in touch!
Brilliant!
Thank you, Shannon. That is truly nice to hear. 🌷🌻🌼

HVALA VAM🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
Aida, it is my real pleasure. Thank you for your message! Kelly
I like the momigami the best. With maybe some thick sashiko thread
I had to look up sashiko thread and I'm glad I did. That would indeed make a cool contrast with some boro-style stiching. Thanks for the idea!
Hi Kelly! I love, love love your videos and content style. I may try this on an "onion bag", mesh produce bag! much finer, but that just means more holes! The bracelet idea is cute, just dont make a matching dress with all those holes unless they are strategically placed!
or...stretched out cheesecloth???
How interesting ❤! New subscriber here. Looking forward to your videos!
Hello and welcome, April. Hope you make some gorgeous papers! Kelly
I will try this and burn the holes into it with my wood burning tool or incense sticks!
@@TheDabshear What a cool idea. May have to try that myself. Kelly
Kelly
Maybe use yarn or wool for a multitude of colors and thicknesses?
Those are both really good ideas, Vera. I also found some old rick-rack (zig zag ribbon) that I am going to try. So, so many varieties. Let me know how they work out!
