    I was just there May 2023. That hike was no joke. Mainly because of the elevations. But I had a blast running around the North Rim. I think the North Rim is better than the South Rim and West Rim.

    WOW The view! Beautiful day and not many people around...you hit the jack pot. Amazing place to check out. Thanks for this great visit.

      The north rim only gets 10% of the visitors that the south rim does. It was actually pretty busy at the lodge/visitor center/bright angel point. The rest of the park however had WAY fewer people than you'd see at most national parks!

    I visited the Grand Canyon when I was a kid, but would love to go back and see it again as an adult! These views are amazing!

      This is definitely one of those places you can return to every now and then and never be disappointed!

    Just over a year ago, I explored the North Rim.. even more spectacular than the South Rim. Also hiked down the top 2 miles on North Kaibab Trail. I want to do a rim to rim someday! I also did hikes on Bright Angel and Plateau Point.

      Agreed! We really enjoyed out time on the North Rim but it really did feel like it took a bit more effort to get there. Years ago we hiked a ways down the Bright Angel trail too and we'd love to visit again and go further!

    I love this so much! It’s been a while since I’ve been there but all of the memories came flooding back when I saw the gorgeous views and the paths to the different areas 💙

      It's incredible! If you've been to the South Rim and are up for another adventure (it takes some effort to get there), the North Rim really is worth the effort!

    Wonderful video. You really captured just how huge, or grand, that canyon is.

      Thanks! The view from the north side definitely gives a better perspective of size. Honestly though, we still don't feel like we've seen much of the west side of it. I guess we'll have to make another trip!

    We visited the Grand Canyon 3 years ago. It was amazing and wished I had more time. We only spent a few hours checking out the views on the South Rim. Is the North Rim less congested? Excellent video and love the views @ 6:22.

      It's definitely a lot to take in! The North Rim only gets 10% of the national park's total visitation. Bright Angel Point was definitely the busiest part of the park, but it's right next to the visitor center and lodge. The rest of it wasn't congested at all. It's really out of the way though compared to the south rim. Thanks so much!

    The Grand Canyon is awesome. I went as a kid (a bit older than your youngins - maybe when I was 10 or 12). That's where I found out I'm (extremely) afraid of heights. I took my kids when they were about the same age and they loved it too. I always heard great things about the North Rim, and now I see why. I guess I need to wait a bit and take the grandkids when I get some.
    We splurged and took a helicopter flight over the canyon. Oh boy was it worth it. I highly, highly recommend it if anyone has the opportunity.

      The north rim really gives a different perspective that you don't get at the south rim. A helicopter ride sounds fantastic! We actually saw a red helicopter flying by Point Escantada. We'd love to do it at some point. I'm curious though, did the helicopter ride not bother your fear of heights?

    • @ramblingdewdad9703
      @ramblingdewdad9703 3 года назад

      I guess my fear is less of heights more of falling. 😊 If I'm strapped into a chair or have nice handrails or something, I'm ok. It's the open air with nothing to stop me (in case I'm clumsy?) that causes me issues. It even hits me in movies and video games! So bungie jumping is out, but I would love to skydive at some point. Odd, huh? There is something about a helicopter that just really exhilarating. And the views are so much better, probably because you can get closer and aren’t moving as fast. It is also more intimate vs. a plane. It is not cheap, but it still well worth it. We flew with Maverick and liked them (though that was over 10 years ago). Do it when the kids are a bit older and they will love it! If you find yourself in Alaska at some point, take one out to a glacier. Mind blowing...

      Actually, we totally get it. We both still have a healthy fear of falling even though we really enjoy rock climbing. There's something about being harnessed and having practiced with all of the gear enough that dumbs the fear down. We like to look over edges, but that usually involves crawling up to them to maintain that feeling of security 😆

    Nice video! I'm going there in September. Are the roads on the scenic drive paved and easy to drive?

    • @NeverStopAdventuring
      @NeverStopAdventuring  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! You'll love it! All the places we went in the video had paved roads. So the visitor center/bright angel point definitely are. Cape Royal Road, which is the scenic drive that we did after Bright Angel Point, is also paved. It's definitely narrower though, but we drive everywhere in a big dually truck...so there's that. There's another 18 mile road that heads out to Point Sublime - west of the visitor center. That's the one you want to avoid unless you're prepared for an off-road adventure. The NPS map says 4WD, tow strap, and saw recommended.

      @@NeverStopAdventuring do you know if I purchase one of those $35 pass am I allowed to use it to enter the south rim and to enter in and out of the canyon multiple times

    • @NeverStopAdventuring
      @NeverStopAdventuring  3 года назад

      Not sure there. We have the $80 America The Beautiful Pass for getting into all national parks. You could always call the park to find out!

  • @migmigjohnson6083

    If you have to pay for a ticket to get in and/or can't boondock in the destination, it's not an adventure - in my humble opinion. We can call it a "meh, it looks nice" moment I suppose. I can't even fly my drone there without being persecuted by jackboot agents.

    • @NeverStopAdventuring
      @NeverStopAdventuring  3 года назад +1

      There are tons of boondocking spots around Grand Canyon on both sides of it, but it sounds like you might be happier in Utah. There are tons of amazing canyon views to be had there where you can boondock AND fly your drone.
